Gerbera(Gerbera hybrida Hort)의 형태적 특징과 유전적 유연관계 분석

This study was conducted to analyze the morphological characteristics and genetic relationships among 24 species of Gerbera. Most of flower colors were pink. The numerical order of flower color was pink, orange, red, double-colored, and milk-white. Majority of flower types were single or semidouble flowers. A few species were double flowers. Flower diameters were from 7cm to 12cm, showed significant differences compared to other characteristics. Flower stalks were ranged from 55cm to 65cm. Only one species was the shortest as 55cm. The others were similar size as about 65cm. Main annual production yields were between 190 and 400 blossoms. Fifty seven reproducible polymorphic bands from eighty primers were used for analyses of genetic similarity. The genetic similarity of 24 collected Gerberas was largely classified into five groups. The average similarity coefficient was 0.72 ranged from 0.50 to 0.90. The highest similarity coefficient was shown between 'Sardana' with red/white flower color and double flower type, and 'Tamara' with orange flower color and double flower type as 0.90.

<P>Monodispersed magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared through the thermal decomposition method. The obtained NPs were surface modified with silica (SiO2) and polyethylene glycol (PEG), to enhance their stability in aqueous environment and their cellular uptake efficiency for biomedical applications. The NPs were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The cytotoxicity of these NPs on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) was measured by MTT assay (cell viability test) at various concentrations (2, 5, 12.5, 25, and 50 µg/mL). The cells remained more than 90% viable at concentrations as high as 50 µg/mL. To compare the cellular uptake efficiency, these NPs were treated in BM-MSCs and the Fe concentration within the cells was measured by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) analysis. The uptake process displayed a time- and dose-dependency. The uptake amount of SiO2-coated Fe3O4 (Fe3O4@SiO2) NPs was about 10 times higher than that of the PEG-coated ones (Fe3O4@PEG).</P>
Variation of Univariate Flow Karyotypes and Chromosomal DNA Contents in Maize (Zea mays L.)

Analyses of now karyotypes using different maize (Zea mays L.) inbred lines have been performed. The accumulation and isolation of high quality and quantity metaphase chromosomes from root tips can be achieved from many kinds of maize lines. The chromosome suspensions were prepared by a simple slicing method from synchronized maize root tips and analyzed with a now cytometry. The variations of experimental now karyotypes were detected among inbred lines in terms of the positions and/or the numbers of chromosome peaks. The 2C DNA amount among 8 inbred lines ranged from 5.09 to 5.52 pg. The variability of DNA content in maize chromosome 1 was 9.1 % ranging from 0.685 to 0.747 pg. The selection of appropriate maize lines is critical for sorting specific single chromosome types. At least five different chromosome types can be discriminated and sorted from five maize lines.

The expression of TLRs in pulmonary neuron in bleomycin induced pulmonary fibrosis model

Background: The family of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) plays a key role in controlling innate immune responses to a wide variety of pathogen-associated molecules. Nerve cells originated from lung are considered to be related with clinical respiratory symptoms including coughing, dyspnea. However, investigation of TLRs in pulmonary nerve cells has scarcely studied. We investigated the expression of TLRs in pulmonary nerve cells and change of TLRs in bleomycin induced lung fibrosis model. Methods: Male Spraque-Dawley rats were given a single dose of bleomycin (2.5 mg/kg, intratracheally) in pulmonary fibrosis groups and saline in controls. Fibrotic changes in lung were estimated to occur by BAL, histology and SIRCOL collagen assay. Using real-time PCR, we assessed the expression of TLRs (TLR 1-9) in pulmonary neurons of bleomycin induced lung fibrosis rat model in comparson with normal controls. Results: Bleomycin challenge caused pulmonary fibrosis with increase in collagen content of lung tissue and typical histological findings. We showed strong expression of TLR-2, TLR-5 in pulmonary neuron of bleomycin fibrosis rats versus normal rats. Conclusions: The concerted alteration of expression of TLRs in pulmonary neurons can be of relevance for understanding the pathogenesis of lung fibrosis.
