The drilling tests were carried out austempered ductile cast iron (ADI) to clarify the factors influencing the drilling characteristics of ADI material. The machinability of material was evaluated using high speed steel drill and cobalt contained drill of 6mm diameter. The spheroidal graphite cast iron materials were austenized at 900℃ for 1 hour and then wear kept at 375℃ for 2 hours. Austempered ductile cast iron contains a great deal of retained austenite which contributes to an improvement of impact strength. In this paper. machinability of ADI is investigated by drilling experimentation. The results obtained are as follows: a) Flank wear increases logarithmically with increase of cutting time. b) Relation of flank wear and cutting force can be applied to Fz = 925VB + 820 for the cutting condition suggested. Auto_LISP을 이용한 기어설계 프로그램 개발에 관한 연구

After investigating repeatedly result obtained through gear stress analysis, we make a determination of an optimal gear shape. But its design process was not only complex but also difficult to get a precise profile curve from operating by hand. In this study, rotating shape of gear profile curves was generated automatically with standard spur gear, equivalent helical gear, shifted gear & pinion by using developed program which is using Auto_LISP language in Auto-CAD. This program which can design rapidly gear shapes will successfully support gear designing and manufacturing for Small & Medium companies.

The purpose of this study was to present the method to choose the optimum machining condition for the wire EDM. This was completed by examining the ever-changing quality of the material and by improving the function of the wire electric discharge machine. Precision metal mold products and the unmanned wire electric discharge machining system were used and then applied in industrial fields. This experiment uses the wire electric discharge machine with brass wire electrode of 0.25mm. To measure the precision of the machining surface, average values are obtained from 3 samples of measures of center-line average roughness by using a third dimension gauge and a stylus surface roughness gauge.

The LED failure rate depends in large measure on the physical properties of packaging materials(epoxy). There are many variables which have great influence on the physical properties of packaging materials, but the glass transitions temperature(Tg) as one of important physical properties was changed and analyzed about failure shapes at that time in this study, and the failure shapes by the amount of epoxy and the wire bonding structure were analyzed as well. The analysis result of the failure rate came out as the smaller the mount of epoxy is, the lower the failure rate is. The analysis result of the difference of the glass transitions temperature came out as the higher the temperature is, the higher the safety of LED is.

The stable driving condition of high speed gear is approached by shape modifications of a gear tooth. Recently, many gear designers are using FEM for the design and the manufacture of a high precision gear. In this paper, it is aimed to drive in stable sound level through the modification of the tooth and the shape of a gear. The simulation is used to understand the effect of holes for the decrement of weight and the stress variation for the tooth modification. beam elements used to simulate the same condition as a real gear drive by FEM. The driven gear is simulated to 60,000rpm for the tooth modification.
Anti-Obesity Effect of <i>Bombus ignitus</i> Queen Glycosaminoglycans in Rats on a High-Fat Diet

<P>The mechanism of functional insect glycosaminoglycan (GAG) on obesity caused a high fat diet has not yet been elucidated. Therefore, insect glycosaminoglycans derived from <I>Isaria sinclairii</I>, <I>Bombus ignitus</I> (a type of bumblebee) queen, and <I>Gryllus bimaculatus</I> were purified and investigated as a potential functional food. 14-week old male Wistar rats were fed a high-fat diet (HFD) for 6 weeks. There were five groups that received daily intraperitoneal administration of phosphate buffered saline (PBS, control), GbG (GAG from <I>Gryllus bimaculatus</I>) 10 mg/kg, ISG (GAG from <I>Isaria sinclairii</I>) 10 mg/kg, IQG (GAG from <I>Bombus ignites</I>) 10 mg/kg, or Pravastatin (2 mg/kg). All treatments were performed for one month. IQG produced a potential anti-inflammatory effect with the inhibition of c-reactive protein and sero-biochemical parameters of phospholipids and free fatty acids indicative of an anti-hyperlipidemic effect. Abdominal and epididymidal fat weight were reduced in conjunction with a mild increase in body weight. The level of laminin in HMVEC-C cells or fibronectin in HFD rat hepatocytes was significantly affected by these GAG treatments, which regulated adipogenesis and adipocyte function. Compared to the control rats, IQG-treated rats displayed up-regulation of 87 genes (test:control ratio >2.0) including fatty acid synthase and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase, with the down-regulation of 47 genes including the uridine diphosphate (UDP) glycosyltransferase 2 families, polypeptidase B, and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1. The data suggest that IQG could potentially prevent or treat fatty liver or hyperlipidemia.</P>
A Study on the Mechanical Properties of Ti-8Ta-3Nb Alloy for Biomaterials

Ti-8Ta-3Nb has been developed as a new biomaterial. The experimental specimens are as-cast and forged Ti-8Ta-3Nb alloys. Treatment in a solution, ranging from 760 to 960℃ has carried out. The microstructural research has carried out after the solution treatment and the hardness was measured. The specific heat and the length variations of Ti-8Ta-3Nb were also measured. The optimum temperature for the solution heat treatment of Ti-8Ta-3Nb was found to be 880℃. This was based on the mechanical properties and the volume fraction of a phase and their phases shown from the results of the solution heat treatment. From the results, the /3 transition temperature of Ti-8Ta-3Nb was found to be between 860℃ and 880℃.<br/>
