        In this paper we proposed the remote control system for the door lock by the unified modem with the wireless and the power line modem. We developed the management system program between the door-lock system and the proposed unified modem. The infrared communication system was used between the Door-Lock system and the power line modem. With the unified developed modem and the Door-Lock system, it is possible to control remotely the developed system in the internet service area.

        이동통신 멀티미디어 데이터서비스의 트래픽 특성 모델링 및 성능분석

        The aim of this study is to identify the data traffic capacity of 3G mobile communication networks, especially of cdma2000-1X networks. Three-layered ON/OFF traffic model is used to describe the dynamics of data traffics and the process of data transmission such as packet scheduling. We construct a simulator fully incorporating packet handling process of cdma2000-1X data network as well as three-layered ON/OFF traffic model describing the behavior of source data traffics. To get influence of traffic parameters on performance measures, the extensive simulations were performed for several data sets which are obtained from real trace data or previous studies. The experimental results show that the engineered throughput satisfying QoS criteria is approximately 20% of total capacity. Finally, some proposals to improve the system capacity are followed.

        Impact of Cigarette Smoking: a 3-Year Clinical Outcome of Vasospastic Angina Patients

        However, it is largely unknown whether smoking adds to any long-term clinical risk in VSA patients. Subjects and Methods: A total of 2797 patients without significant CAD underwent acetylcholine (Ach) provocation test between November 2004 and October 2010. Patients were divided into three groups, based on the presence of coronary artery spasm (CAS) and smoking habits (non-CAS group: n=1188, non-smoking CAS group: n=1214, smoking CAS group: n=395). All CAS patients were prescribed with anti-anginal medications for at least 6 months. The incidence of major clinical outcomes and recurrent angina of these groups were compared up to 3 years. Results: There were considerable differences in the baseline clinical and angiographic characteristics among the three groups, but there was no difference in the endpoints among the three groups (including individual and composite hard endpoints) such as death, myocardial infarction, de novo percutaneous coronary intervention, cerebrovascular accident, and major adverse cardiac events. However, there was a higher incidence of recurrent angina in both the non-smoking CAS group and smoking CAS group, as compared to the nonCAS group. In multivariable adjusted Cox-proportional hazards regression analysis, smoking CAS group exhibited a higher incidence of recurrent angina compared with the non-CAS group (hazard ratio [HR]; 2.46, 95% confidence interval [CI]; 1.46-4.14, p=0.001) and nonsmoking CAS group (HR; 1.76, 95% CI; 1.08-2.87, p=0.021). Conclusion: Cigarette smoking CAS group exhibited higher incidence of recurrent angina during the 3-year clinical follow-up compared with both the non-CAS group and non-smoking CAS group. Quitting of smoking, paired with intensive medical therapy and close clinical follow-up, can help to prevent recurrent angina.

        Synergistic Effect of Isoflavones on the BMP-4 Mediated Osteoblastic Differentiation of C2C12 Myoblast

        목적: 이소플라본은 콩의 한가지 성분으로서 골형성에 도움이 된다. 이 연구는 골형성성장인자-4가 존재할 때 이소플라본이 근아세포 C2C12세포를 골세포로 분화하는 작용 및 그 원리를 알아보려 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 이소플라본과 골형성인자-4를 따로 혹은 함께 C2C12세포에 작용하였다. 72시간 후 염색방법으로 알칼리 포스파타아제의 활성을 측정하였다. 알칼리 포스파타아제의 활성은 스캔한 이미지를 비교하는 방법과 분광광도법으로 분석하였다. 이소플래본 중의 한 가지 성분인 다이드제인으로 샘플을 처리한 후 세포 표면의 리모델링을 책임진 세포외기질 관련유전자의 발현을 마이크로어레이방법으로 분석하였다. 결과: 골형성성장인자-4 혹은 이소플래본을 작용한 후 C2C12세포들의 알칼리 포스파타아제의 활성은 골형성성장인자-4의 농도에 따라 증가하였으나 이소플라본이 단독으로 작용했을 때는 변화가 없었다. 이소플라본과 골형성성장인자-4가 동시에 작용했을 때 알칼리 포스파타아제의 활성은 증가되었다. 마이크로어레이의 결과 세포외 기질 관련유전자들 중 Mmp13과 Mmp3 등 발현이 증가하였으나 Co14a2, Co15a1과 Mmp9 등은 감소되었다. 결론: 이소플라본은 골형성인자-4와 함께 조골세포 분화를 유발하는데 이는 가능하게 서로 다른 세포외기질 관련유전자에 영향을 주어 이루어진다. Purpose: Isoflavones are rich in soybean and are known to affect bone formation. This study examined the effects and modes of action of isoflavones on the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts in the presence of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-4. Materials and Methods: The isoflavones, daidzein, genistein or equol, and/or BMP-4 were added alone or in combination to C2C12 myoblasts. After 72 hours culture, the cells were stained for the early osteoblastic differentiation marker, alkaline phosphatase (ALP). The ALP activity was determined by comparing the color of the stained images as well as by spectrophotometry. The expression profiles of the extracellular matrix (ECM) genes responsible for the extensive remodeling at the cell surface were analyzed using agene expression microarray after treating thesamples with daidzein. Results: ALP staining of BMP-4 or the isoflavones-treated cells showed that BMP-4 increased the activity of ALP in a dose dependent manner, whereas the isoflavones alone did not induced any remarkable increase. However, the ALP activity increased when the cells were treated with BMP-4 and any of the three isoflavones. The macrogen mouse MAC array data showed that the ECM genes, Mmp13 and Mmp3, were up-regulated by daidzein, whereas Col4a2, Col5a1 and Mmp9 were down-regulated. Conclusion: Isoflavones induce osteoblastic differentiation when combined with BMP-4, which is possibly achieved by modulating the expressional levels of various ECM genes.

      • Laser-Induced Solid-Phase Doped Graphene

        <P>There have been numerous efforts to improve the performance of graphene-based electronic devices by chemical doping. Most studies have focused on gas-phase doping with chemical vapor deposition. However, that requires a complicated transfer process that causes undesired doping and defects by residual polymers. Here, we report a solid-phase synthesis of doped graphene by means of silicon carbide (SiC) substrate including a dopant source driven by pulsed laser irradiation. This method provides <I>in situ</I> direct growth of doped graphene on an insulating SiC substrate without a transfer step. A numerical simulation on the temperature history of the SiC surface during laser irradiation reveals that the surface temperature of SiC can be accurately controlled to grow nitrogen-doped graphene from the thermal decomposition of nitrogen-doped SiC.         <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Background</B></P> <P>Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is an important factor of adverse cardiovascular events in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) inhibitors is associated with improved clinical outcomes, however, there are limited data comparing the effectiveness of two different RAAS inhibitors in STEMI patients with DM undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DES).</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>A total of 3811 eligible STEMI patients with DM were enrolled in Korea Acute Myocardial Infarction Registry (KAMIR). They were stratified into two groups: Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI) group (n=2691) and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) group (n=1120). To adjust baseline confounding factors, we performed propensity score matching (PSM) analysis and evaluated individual and composite major clinical outcomes between the two groups up to 2years.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>After PSM, a total of 1049 well-matched pairs were generated. Baseline clinical, angiographic and procedural characteristics were well-balanced between the two groups. The incidence of death, recurrent myocardial infarction (MI), revascularization and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) were not significantly different between the two groups up to 2years,</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>In the present study, ACEI and ARB showed comparable effectiveness and safety on individual and composite clinical outcomes in STEMI patients with DM who underwent successful PCI with DES at least up to 2years.</P>

        Transradial versus transfemoral intervention in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction patients in Korean population

        Background/Aims: Transradial intervention (TRI) is becoming the preferred method over transfemoral intervention (TFI) because TRI is associated with lower incidence of major bleeding and vascular complications. However, there has been limited published data regarding the clinical outcomes of TRI versus TFI in Korean patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods: A total of 689 consecutive STEMI patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DESs) from January to December of 2009 at nine university hospitals were enrolled in this study. Mid-term angiographic and 12-month cumulative clinical outcomes of the TRI group (n = 220, 31.9%) were compared to those of the TFI group (n = 469, 28.1%). Results: After propensity score matching, in-hospital complications and the 12-month major clinical outcomes during follow-up in the two groups were similar to each other. However, the incidence rates of repeat revascularization (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.003), target vessel revascularization (6.4% vs. 0.5%, p = 0.003), and major adverse cardiac events (MACE; 11.6% vs. 4.6%, p = 0.018) in the TFI group were higher than those in the TRI group during the 12-month of follow-up. Conclusions: In our study, TRI in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI with DESs was associated with lower incidence of access site hematoma, 12-month repeat revascularization, and MACE compared to TFI. Therefore, TRI might play an important role in reducing bleeding complications while improving major clinical outcomes in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI with DESs.

      • Effects of Metal-Doping on Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Catalyzed by MAu<sub>24</sub> and M<sub>2</sub>Au<sub>36</sub> Nanoclusters (M = Pt, Pd)

        <P>This paper describes the effects of doped metals on hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyzed by atomically controlled MAu<SUB>24</SUB> and M<SUB>2</SUB>Au<SUB>36</SUB> nanoclusters, where M = Pt and Pd. HER performances, such as onset potential (<I>E</I><SUB>onset</SUB>), catalytic current density, and turnover frequency (TOF), are comparatively examined with respect to the doped metals. Doping Pt or Pd into gold nanoclusters not only changes the electrochemical redox potentials of nanoclusters but also considerably improves the HER activities. <I>E</I><SUB>onset</SUB> is found to be controlled by the nanocluster’s reduction potential matching the reduction potential of H<SUP>+</SUP>. The higher catalytic current and TOF are observed with the doped nanoclusters in the order of PtAu<SUB>24</SUB> > PdAu<SUB>24</SUB> > Au<SUB>25</SUB>. The same trend is observed with the Au<SUB>38</SUB> group (Pt<SUB>2</SUB>Au<SUB>36</SUB> > Pd<SUB>2</SUB>Au<SUB>36</SUB>> Au<SUB>38</SUB>). Density functional theory calculations have revealed that the hydrogen adsorption free energy (Δ<I>G</I><SUB>H</SUB>) is significantly lowered by metal-doping in the order of Au<SUB>25</SUB> > PdAu<SUB>24</SUB> > PtAu<SUB>24</SUB> and Au<SUB>38</SUB> > Pd<SUB>2</SUB>Au<SUB>36</SUB> > Pt<SUB>2</SUB>Au<SUB>36</SUB>, indicating that hydrogen adsorption on the active site of nanocluster is thermodynamically favored by Pd-doping and further by Pt-doping. The doped metals, albeit buried in the core of the nanoclusters, have profound impact on their HER activities by altering their reduction potentials and hydrogen adsorption free energies.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

      • Highly Efficient Layer-by-Layer-Assisted Infiltration for High-Performance and Cost-Effective Fabrication of Nanoelectrodes

        <P>We present a novel cathode fabrication technique for improved performance and production efficiency of SOFCs based on an infiltration method assisted by layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly of polyelectrolytes. Preparation of the electrode with LbL-assisted infiltration leads to a 6.5-fold reduction in the electrode fabrication time while providing uniform and small formation of Pr<SUB>0.7</SUB>Sr<SUB>0.3</SUB>CoO<SUB>3-δ</SUB> (PSC) particles on the electrode. The increased surface area by 24.5% and number of active sites of the prepared electrode exhibits superior electrochemical performance up to 36.1% while preserving the electrical properties of the electrode.
