      • Improvements of phosphorescent white OLEDs performance for lighting application.

        <P>We developed white OLED device with high power efficiency, in which blue and orange phosphorescent emitters were used. By introduction of multi-functional interlayer which has partial doping of orange dopant inside EBL, we report WOLEDs with peak external efficiencies up to (14.1% EQE, 31.3 Im/W) without light out-coupling technique. At 1000 cd/m2, the performance achieved was 11.9% EQE, 18.7 Im/W with CIE = (0.39, 0.44). We also found that WOLED performances are related with doping ratio of the orange dopant that was inserted inside EBL.</P>

        Sulfonylurea Herbicide Resistance Mechanism of Some Acetohydroxy Acid Synthase Mutants and New Designed Herbicides Specific to the Mutants

        The mutation rate of proline in the position 197 (Pro197) in acetohydroxy acid synthase (AHAS) is highest among sulfonylurea (SU) herbicide-resistance mutants. Therefore, it is significant to investigate the resistance mechanism for the mutation and to develop the herbicides specific to the mutants. SU herbicide resistance mechanism of the mutants, 197Ser, 197Thr and 197Ala, in AHAS were targeted for designing new SU-herbicide. We did molecular dynamics (MD) simulation for understanding SU herbicide-resistance mechanisms of AHAS mutants and designed new herbicides with docking and MD evaluations. We have found that mutation to 197Ala and 197Ser enlarged the entrance of the active site, while 197Thr contracted. Map of the root mean square derivation (RMSD) and radius gyrations (Rg) revealed the domain indicating the conformations for herbicide resistant. Based on the enlarging-contracting mechanism of active site entrance, we designed new herbicides with substitution at the heterocyclic moiety of a SU herbicide for the complementary binding to the changed active site entrances of mutants, and designed new herbicides. We confirmed that our screened new herbicides bonded to both AHAS wild type and mutants with higher affinity, showing more stable binding conformation than the existing herbicides.

        The analytical results of SO_2, CO and NO_2, O_3 by semi-auto analyzer, which have been setted for grasping the current-situation of air pollution caused by Chon-ju Industrial Complex could be summarized as follows. The average SO_2, CO, NO_2, and O_3 concentration in Chon-ju is 0.019 ppm, 1.67 ppm, 0.0175 ppm, 0.010 ppm, respectively. SO_2 usually surpasses "environmental standards" two or three thimes a month. In case of NOX is influenced almost by traffic conditions, NO_2 increase during daylight if NOX is influenced almost by traffic conditions, NO_2 increase during daylight if NOx would be high. Therefore, the sun-light causes NO_2 to degrade into increasing O_3. The Auto-Analyzer installed in Cheonju Area appears to cause some problems about its meauring site around chonju industrial Complex in the wind direction. SO_2, NOx and CO, O_3 turn out to be higher because the measuring site is being at the north-west down wind direction of Cheon-Gun Road and Samye Cross-Road.

      • 대학생의 전공에 따른 유행 동조성, 혁신성, 의복가치 차이에 관한 연구

        A change in economic and social environment has brought lots of changes in lifestyles and values of onsumers. This paper presents fashion conformity, innovativeness and clothing values of college students according to their academic majors. Respondents were 181 undergraduate students with diverse majors. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire designed to measure fashion conformity, innvativeness and utilitarian/hedonic clothing values. Seventeen items measuring fashion conformity and innovativeness and thirty six items measuring clothing values were adopted from existing studies. Chi-square, ANOVA, and multiple comparisons of means were conducted. Students were clustered into three groups of majors: Engineering/NaturalScience/Information majors (ENI), Business/Social/Humanity (BSH) majors and HumanEcology/Art/PhysicalEducation (HAP) majors. HAP majors were more innovative than ENI majors. Significant differences were found in hedonic and utilitarian aspects of clothing values. HAP majors had higher level of novelty/fun/attraction, fashion consciousness and social appraisal sensitivity dimensions. ENI majors showed higher level of comfort seeking among clothing values. No significance was found in clothing confidence, mix and match, economy, utility and handling dimensions of clothing values across different groups of majors. Results of this study imply that the consumer group according to a major has relation to fashion conformity, innovativeness and clothing values.

        Pediococcus pentosaceus K1270에 의한 인공치태 형성억제 효과

        치태형성을 억제하는 유산균 K1270을 김치로부터 분리한 후 배양적, 생화학적 특징 및 16S rDNA 염기서열 분석에 의해 Pediococcus pentosaceus K1270으로 동정하였다. K1270 균주는 5% 자당이 함유된 배지에서 Streptococcus mutans Ingbritt에 의한 인공치태 형성을 대조군에 비해 94.6 % 억제하였으며, 비수용성 글루캔의 합성을 89.6 % 억제하였다. S mutans Ingbritt의 증식은 대조군에 비해 100배 정도 억제하였다. K1270균주는 TMB와 peroxidase가 첨가된 MRS 한천배치에서 과산화수소를 생산하였으며, 인공치태 형성에 대한 K1270균주의 억제 효과는 catalase첨가에 의해 일부 감소되었다. K1270 균주의 배양 상청액을 10 % 자당이 함유된 2×M17 broth에 동량 가한 경우 인공치태 형성 및 Streptococcus mutans Ingbritt의 증식이 억제되었으며, 이 억제효과는 catalase첨가에 의해 일부 감소되었고, 열처리, 또는 trypsin 처지에 의해 완전히 소실되었다. 따라서, 본 연구에서 분리, 동정된 P. pentosaceus K1270은 과산화 수소와 bacteriocin 유사물질을 분비하여 S. mutans Ingbritt의 증식을 억제함으로써 인공치태 형성을 억제하는 것으로 사료된다. Pediococcus pentosaceus K1270 was isolated from naturally fermented kimchi and identified based on the 16S rDNA sequence as well as cultural and biochemical characteristics. This strain strongly inhibited the formation of biofilm by Streptococcus mutans Ingbritt. K1270 also showed antibacterial activity against S. utans Ingbritt. It was observed that K1270 strain produced hydrogen peroxide on MRS agar supplemented with 3, 3, 5, 5-tetramethlybenzidine (TMB) and peroxidase and the inhibitory effect of K1270 strain on the biofilm formation was reversed by the addition of catalase in part. Culture supernatant of K1270 inhibited the biofilm formation and the multiplication of S. mtans Ingbritt. This inhibitory effect of culture supernatant was decreased slightly by the addition of catalase and abolished by heat or trypsin treatment. Thus, this study suggests that P. pentosaceus K1270 inhibit the biofilm formation through the inhibition of the replication of S. mutans Ingbritt by producing hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocin.

        감귤류 종자 추출물의 N-nitrosodimethylamine 생성억제에 관한 연구

        The effect of inhibition on N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) formation by methanol extracts from 6 kinds of citrus seed (Citrus sunki, Citrus natsudaidai, Citrus suleata, Citrus tangerina, Citrus grandis and Citrus obovoidea) were investigated. The contents of moisture, crude protein, crude fat, carbohydrate, ash, flavonoid and totat phenol in citrus seeds were 4~6, l1~15, 32~46, 22~45, 2~4%, 12~24mg% and 53~133㎎%, respectively. The solid contents and yield of citrus seed extracts were 0.8~1.0 and 0.7~1.1%, respectively. Nitrite-scavenging activity by methanol extracts from citrus seeds increased with increasing extract dosage. Furthermore, the nitrite scavenging activity was pH dependent being the highest at pH 1.2 (42.7~96.9%) and the lowest at pH 6.0 (19.9~62.6%). Scavenging effects of nitrite by reaction time showed high effects under 3hr reaction time. The inhibition effect of NDMA formation by the citrus seed was strengthened as the amount of extract increased. The inhibition rate of methanol extracts from citrus seeds on NDMA formation showed 1.2~39.8%, 21.3~60.1% and 47.4~94.0%, according to add 1, 3 and 5㎖, respectively. Therefore, the inhibition effect of NDMA formation by the citrus seed was strengthened as the concentration of extract increased.

      • 입원 환자 영양검색 전산 프로그램 개발

        Background : About 30% of patients in the hospital are under nourishment. A large portion of people are undernourished when they are admitted to the hospital and in the majority of these, undernutrition develops further while in hospital. Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA), a method of nutritional assessment based on clinical judgment, has been widely used to assess the nutritional status of adults for both clinical and research purposes. Modified PG-SGA can be used as a nutrition screening tool, and a comprehensive nutrition assessment is desirable for those who are malnourished. The purpose of this study is to develop a simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP). Methods : We applied the nutrition screening program(NSP) to adult inpatients who are at risk of malnutrition using the Modified Patient-Generated subjective global assessment(PG-SGA) and objective assessment(electrical medical record data). Results : Therefore simple and beneficial NSP is developed for patients with severe malnutrition. Using NSP. nutritional information of the severe malnutrition patient should be shared with the physicians and they should be taken care of by clinical dietitians to improve their nutritional status. Conclusion : The Modified PG-SGA and nutrition screening tool are simple, reliable and valid nutrition screening program(NSP).

        한국인 쯔쯔가무시병 환자에서 사이토카인 유전자의 다양성 조사

        Background: Scrub typhus is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi and can become severe and potentially life-threatening. It is suggested that specific host factors can modify the host response during O. tsutsugamushi infection. It is known that susceptibility and outcome of infectious disease are associated with genetic polymorphisms of some cytokines. Materials and Methods: Peripheral blood of 144 patients who were diagnosed with scrub typhus and of 311 unrelated healthy subjects were collected. A diagnosis of scrub typhus was made upon demonstration of a fourfold rise in antibody titer to O. tsutsugamushi in paired serum specimens in an indirect immunofluorescent (IFA) test. Genomic DNAs were extracted from peripheral mononuclear cells and genotypings for IL-1 (-511C/T), IL-1β (+3953T/C), IL-2 (-330T/G), IL-4 (-590C/T), IL-4R(-1902G/A), IL-10 (-1082G/A), IL-10 (-819C/T), TNF-α (-238G/A) and TNF-α (-308G/A) were performed simultaneously using PCR-SSP (sequence specific polymorphisms) assay. Results: The frequency of IL-1 (-511T/T) (OR=0.53, P<0.01) and IL-2 (-330T/T) (OR=0.56, P<0.01) were significantly decreased, but that of IL-2(-330G/G) (OR=4.49, P<0.01) was increased, in the scrub typhus patients compared to the healthy controls. And, there were no statistically significant differences in the genetic polymorphisms of IL-4 (-590C/T), IL-4Rα (-1902G/A), IL-10 (-1082G/A), IL-10 (-819C/T), TNF-α (-238G/A), TNF-α (-308G/A) genes, in the scrub typhus patients compared to the unrelated healthy controls. Conclusions: Cytokine polymorphisms in the IL-1 (-511T/T) and the IL-2 genes may influence the host response to O. tsutsugamushi.
