The voltage-source inverters are normally equipped with an electrolytic capacitor in their DC link, however, the electrolytic capacitor has several disadvantages such as increasing size, limiting converter life and reliability. Therefore, several approaches for removing the DC link capacitor have been studied by the authors. This paper proposes a new voltage-source inverter without DC link components. To reduce waveform distortion of the AC source current, the current-controlled PWM-rectifier with di/dt feedback is introduced. The di/dt feedback gain and LC parameters are investigated by calculation for a 0.75kW induction motor driven by this inverter. The calculated AC source currents maintain nearly sinusoidal waveforms with a unity power factor.<br/>
Installing Ozone Bleaching and Hot Acid Treatment at NPI Mills

Nippon Paper Industries, Co., Ltd. declared conversion of all the bleaching process to ECF, and most of the production had converted by now. To reduce ECF bleaching cost, we found that depending on electricity supply condition of the mill, utilization of ozone bleaching could be very effective. In addition, hot acid treatment of unbleached pulp also seemed to be effective for hardwood. In this study, several conditions for each technology were examined with the pulps from our own mills to reduce bleaching cost and to keep fiber quality acceptable level. In hot acid treatment study, with mild conditions (temperature lower than 90℃), sufficient reduction in Kappa number and hexenuronic acids content of the pulp were observed, while pulp viscosity was maintained. Moreover, to maintain strength of bleached pulp that subjected both to ozone bleaching and hot acid treatment, recommended Kappa number after ozone bleaching was more than 3. Based on these findings, two of our mills had installed medium-consistency ozone bleaching facilities and three mills installed hot acid treatment. Especially in Yatsushiro mill, both were installed in one bleaching line (A-ZD-E/P-D sequence), and running successfully.
Compensating Characteristics of Voltage Sag Compensator Utilizing Single-Phase Matrix Converter

By using simulation, compensating characteristics of a voltage sag compensator utilizing single-phase matrix converter is examined. System configuration is described and mathematical model of single-phase matrix converter is derived by using the state space averaging method. In addition, the single-phase matrix converter is stabilized by phase-lead compensation. Finally, compensating characteristics of the compensator is investigated for 500 W R-L load and it is demonstrated that the compensator can operate correctly for loads for the range of power factor 0.6 (lagging) - 0.8 (leading) and for up to 50% voltage sag.
Difficulties felt by care managers in providing support for end-of-life care service clients

Aim(s): This study aims to identify difficulties faced by care managers when providing end-of-life care at home, and contribute the findings as basic data for developing educational programs for care managers. Method(s): Study participants were care managers working at 672 in home care management office in the Tokai region in Japan. An anonymous self-rating questionnaire survey was conducted using postal services between September and October of 2020. Comments provided in the open-ended question, “In what aspects do you feel it to be difficult when providing the end-of-life care” were organized into codes, and a qualitative and inductive analysis was performed. Result(s): Questionnaires were sent to 672 establishments, and 372 responses were collected. There were six categories “Problems with the long-term care insurance system” “Difficulty in improving the medical treatment environment suited to the end-of-life stage” “Anxiety due to lack of knowledge about the progress of the end-of-life care period” “Difficulty in providing support for the family” “Limitations of the role as care managers” and “Difficulty in sharing information and collaborating with medical professionals”. Conclusion(s): Care managers do not think that the present Long-term care Insurance System provide sufficient welfare services for the insured service clients at the end-of-life stage, and think that there is room for improvement. Care managers were aware of the necessity to provide end-of-life care services suited to the progress of illnesses, but they were also aware of their lack of specific knowledge of this. In addition, despite the necessity for cooperation with medical professionals, care managers felt that it is difficult to cooperate with medical professionals due to lack of information sharing, and the limitations in providing support for service clients as care managers. These issues make care managers feel it difficult to provide service clients with sufficient services.

Aim(s): This study aims to establish details of the relationship between the educational support needed by care managers in providing end-of-life care at home in Japan, the experiences of providing end-of-life care, and the acquired basic certificates. Method(s): Data collection period: August to October of 2020. Data collection method: Anonymous self-rating questionnaire survey by using postal services. Study participants: Care managers working at in-home care management office in City A, Japan. Survey items: “Demographics”, “basic certificates that are a prerequisite for acquiring a care manager qualification”, “whether or not having experience of end-of-life care as a care manager”, and “educational support needed to provide end-of-life care as a care manager”. In the analysis, the descriptive statistics values of each item were calculated, and a chi-square test and residual analysis were performed after cross tabulation. Result(s): We distributed questionnaires to 672 establishments in City A, and collected 372 responses, and of these 342 (91.9%) were determined as valid. There were 308 (90.1%) care workers with experience of end-oflife care as a care manager. The most needed educational support for end-of-life care as a care manager was support to understand the “progress of illnesses”, 248 (72.5%) of all participants. For the basic certificates, nurses and assistant nurses were statistically significantly fewer than other basic certificates care managers (p < .05). The second most needed educational support needed was “pain control”, 186 (54.4%) of all participants. The number of participants who need “pain control” educational support was statistically significantly smaller among those with experience of end-of-life care as a care manager (p < .05). Conclusion(s): The most needed educational support for end-of-life care as a care manager was support to understand the “progress of illnesses”. For the basic certificates, nurses and assistant nurses were statistically fewer than other basic certificates care managers.

Purpose Integrin αv is a key regulator in the pathophysiology of hepatic fibrosis. In this study, we evaluated the potentialutility of an integrin αvβ3 positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer, 18F-labeled cyclic arginine-glycine-aspartic acidpenta-peptide ([18F]F-FPP-RGD2), for detecting hepatic integrin αv and function in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)model rats using integrin αv siRNA. Methods NASH model rats were produced by feeding a choline-deficient, low-methionine, high-fat diet for 8 weeks. PET/computerized tomography imaging and quantification of integrin αv protein, serum aspartate aminotransferase, and alanineaminotransferase were performed 1 week after single intravenous injection of integrin αv siRNA. Results Integrin αv siRNA (0.1 and 0.5 mg/kg) dose-dependently decreased hepatic integrin αv protein concentrations incontrol and NASH model rats. The hepatic mean standard uptake value of [18F]F-FPP-RGD2 was decreased dose-dependentlyby integrin αv siRNA. The mean standard uptake value was positively correlated with integrin αv protein levels in controland NASH model rats. Serum aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase concentrations were also decreasedby siRNA injection and correlated with liver integrin αv protein expression levels in NASH model rats. Conclusion This study suggests that [18F]F-FPP-RGD2 PET imaging is a promising radiotracer for monitoring hepatic integrinαv protein levels and hepatic function in NASH pathology.
