        Single and 4 weeks oral administration of New wonbangwoohwangchungsimwon (NSCH) which was used l-muscone as substitutive material of musk, to beagle dogs of both sexes were performed to investigate both acute and subacute toxicity. Beagle dogs (3 males and 3 females) in acute experiments were administered orally with sinlge dose of 2,000 ㎎/㎏ and groups of 9 male and 9 female beagle dogs in subacute experiments were given daily different dosage of NSCH, 160 ㎎/㎏/day (low dosage group), 400 ㎎/㎏/day (middle dosage group), 1,000 ㎎/㎏/day (high dosage group) once a day for 4 weeks by oral route according to the Established Regulation of Korea Food and Drug Administration (1996. 4. 16). LD_50 value for beagle dogs was more than 2,000 ㎎/㎏ per oral for both male and females. In animals administered with NSCH, there were neither dead animals nor significant changes of body weights. In addition, no differences were found between control and treated groups in clinical sign, urinalysis, eye examination, hematology, serum chemistry, organ weight and other fingings. No histological lesions were observed in both control and treatment groups. Above data strongly suggset that NSCH in beagle dogs is considered to be safe.

      • 수종의 붕해제가 살리실아미드정제의 제제특성에 미치는 영향

        Six common tablet disintegrants (corn starch, Avicel PH102, calcium carboxymethylcellulose, Primojel, Kollidon CL and Ac-Di-Sol) were used at the concentration of 0, 2, 4 and 6% (w/w) in salicylamide tablets made with wet granulation method. Certain physical parameters of the disintegrants (moisture sorption, hydration capacity and bulk density) were determined to evaluate their relative efficiency. The disintegration time and dissolution rate of the tablets were correlated well with the ranks of initial rate of moisture sorption for each disintegrant as follows; Ac-Di-Sol, Kollidon CL, primojel, calcium CMC, corn starch and Avicel PH102. The initial rate of moisture sorption was important for the disintegration capacity as well as hydration capacity. The effect of storage at different temperatures and relative humidity upon the tablets containing various disintegrants was evaluated in terms of tablet hardness and disintegration time. Storage at high temperature reduced the hardness substantially and retarded the disintegration of the all tablets studied. Especially, the hardness of tablets containing Kollidon CL was significantly reduced. Although the tablet hardness was decreased and the disintegration time was increased under a moderate humid condition, both of them were decreased under the severely high humid condition of 80 or 90% RH, which was due to the breakrupture of tablet matrix bonds by the excessive uptake of moisture. Therefore, the stability caused by moisture sorption should be considered, when disintegrants having high moisture sorption such as Kollidon CL, Ac-Di-Sol and Primojel were employed in the tablets containing water-labile or hygroscopic drugs.

        메조기공의 실리카-티타니아 코겔의 제조와 자율적 조습 및 광촉매 특성

        수용액상의 졸겔반응에 의해 메조기공의 실리카-티타니아 코겔을 제조하고 이들의 자율적 조습력과 광촉매 특성에 대해 검토하였다. 실리카-티타니아 코겔에 있어 조습력과 관계되는 세공크기와 용적은 본 연구에서 고안된역적정법에 의해 Ph 7부근 및 SiO_2/TiO_2 비가 상대적으로 큰 9/1인 경우에 가장 큰 생성물이 얻어졌다. 폐놀 분해율에 의한 광촉매 특성은 동일조건에서 SiO_2/TiO_2 비가 감소함에 따라 증가하였고, SiO_2/TiO_2 비가 9/1에서 세공크기 4.0~6.0 nm 및 세공용적 0.6~0.8 mL/g 범위로 제어된 코겔의 경우 환경습도 40~70% 범위에서 흡습량 25%, 방습량 45%로서 종래 조습재료 보다 자율조습력이 큰 것을 볼 수 있었고, 같은 조성의 실리카-티타니아 혼합 산화물과의 폐놀 분해율에 의한 광촉매 특성 비교에서도 우수한 물성을 보이고 있었는데 이것은 Ti-O-Si 결합형성으로 인해 코겔 구조내에 음전하 과잉으로 인한 활성점(브렌스테드 산점) 발현에 기인된 것으로 고찰된다. Silica-titania cogel materials have been prepared by aqueous sol-gel process using a back titration technique designed for this study. The humidity self-control and photocatalytic properties of the materials have been also investigated. In these silica-titania cogel materials, relatively large pore size and pore volume than can give a good humidity control ability are desired, and they were synthesized under the reaction condition at pH of 7 and SiO_2/TiO_2 ratio of 9/1. The photocatalytic property, which was measured by the decomposition ratio of phenol, increased with the decrease of SiO_2/TiO_2 ratio in the composition. The cogel at the SiO_2/TiO_2 ratio of 9/1, resulted in the pore size of 4.0~6.0 nm and the pore volume of 0.6~0.8mL/g. At the relative humidity range of 40~70%, the amounts of moisture absorption and desorption were 25% 45%, respectively, and these had a better humidity control ability than conventional ones. In addition, the cogel showed a superior photocatalytic property compared to that of silica and titania mixture with the same composition. This enhancement is probably due to the revelation of active sites by the excess negative charges that were induced by Ti-O-Si bond formation in the cogel structure.

      • Ar 이온에 의해 Sputtering된 Pt(111) 표면의 NO 흡착

        Adsorption of nitric oxide on the Pt(111) surface sputtered by Ar-ion has been studied using thermal desorption spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, and low energy electron diffraction. A thermal desorption spectrum obtained from the perfect Pt(111) saturated with NO at 300K is quite simillar to those reported previously. The main portion desorbs at about 370K(α-state) with a shoulder at about 470K(β-state). The chemisorption of nitric oxide is predominantly molecular on the Pt(111) surface, accompanied by a small amount of dissociation which becomes negligible when the Pt(111) surface is perfect. When the Pt(111) surface is sputtered by Ar-ion with 2KeV, the thermal desorption spectrum becomes quite complex. The shoulder peak, which appears on the perfect surface spectrum, increases with Ar-ion sputtering time. The maximum desorption spectra of N₂ and N₂O are observed simultaneously between 470 and 600K. The desorption mechanisms for N₂O are proposed. The increasing N₂ with the β-state of NO indicates that the β-state is a precursor to the NO dissociation.

      • 초고진공 장치의 설계 및 제작과 LEED Optics에 의한 Auger Electron Spectrometer의 분해능 측정

        A multipurpose Ultra High Vacuum chamber was designed and constructed in this laboratory. This enables us to be equipped with various analytical instruments such as Ar-ion gun LEED optics, Electron analyzer, and Quadrupole mass spectrometer etc. The 4-Grid LEED optics, a product of Omicron company in West Germany, was equipped with the UHV chamber and the LEED power supply was designed by this group. Turbo-C language figured out Auger spectra of the ad-species by means of the computer interface. The resolution of Auger electron spectrometer was measured with a constant primary electron beam energy. The results showed that the resolution was independent of the primary electron beam energy, but depends on the modulation voltage. Also, it was revealed that the resolution of 4-Grid optics was more improved than that of 3-Grid optics.

        Carotidynia presenting with acute ischemic stroke after carotid sinus massage

        Carotidynia is characterized by unilateral neck pain around the carotid artery. We describe a 50-year-old woman who presented with transient left-side weakness and right-side neck pain. She frequently massaged the uncomfortable neck area during the symptomatic course of the condition. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed multifocal cerebral infarctions and a carotid intramural thrombus ipsilateral to the carotidynia.Long-term carotidynia might result in the involvement of an intramural thrombus and intimal disruption, and ischemic stroke after carotidynia may be provoked by carotid sinus massage.

        Lipohrperplasia of the lleocecal Valve Mimicking Malignant Neoplasm OH CT: A Case Report

        전산화단층촬영 (CT)상 맹장의 악성종양과 유사한 영상소견을 보였던 회맹장판과 맹장의 유지체성과형성 1예를 보고한다 조영전 CT에서 병변은 등근육에 비하여 저감쇄를 보였으며 조영증강 CT에서 맹장주변의 지방침윤과 임파선종대를 동반한 불규칙한 조영증강을 가진 엽상의 용종양 종괴로 보였다 이러한 소견은 맹장의 악성종양과 유사하게 보일 수 있으나 종괴의 위치가 회맹판을 침범하는 점과 조영전 CT상 저감쇄종괴로 보이는 점등은 악성종양과 감별에 도움이 되었다 We report a case in which CT scanning revealed lipohyperplasia of the ileocecal (IC) valve and cecum with acute inflammation and ulceration mimicking malignant neoplasm. At unenhanced CT lesion attenuation was lower than that of back muscle, and at contrast-enhanced CT, the lesion was seen as a lobulated polypoid mass with inhomogeneous enhancement, pericecal fat infiltration, and pericecal Iymphadenopathy. Although these findings mimick those of malignant neoplasm, the typical location of the mass, involving the IC valve, and the low attenuation observed at unenhanced CT, can help distinguish it from other masses.

        Can Computed Tomographic Angiography Be Used to Predict Who Will Not Benefit from Endovascular Treatment in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke? The CTA-ABC Score

        Objective : The objective of this study was to develop a score to predict patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) who will not benefit from endovascular treatment (EVT) using computed tomographic angiography (CTA) parameters. Methods : The CTA-ABC score was developed from 3 scales previously described in the literature: the Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (0-5 points, 3; 6-10 points, 0), the clot burden score (0-3 points, 1; 4-10 points, 0), and the leptomeningeal Collateral score (0-1 points, 2; 2-3 points, 0). We evaluated the predictive value of CTA parameters associated with symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) or malignant middle cerebral artery infarction (MMCAI) after EVT and developed the score using logistic regression coefficients. The score was then validated. Performance of the score was tested with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC-ROC). Results : The derivation cohort consisted of 115 and the validation cohort consisted of 40 AIS patients. The AUC-ROC was 0.97 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.94-0.99; p<0.001) in the derivation cohort. The proportions of patients with sICH and/or MMCAI in the derivation cohort were 96%, 73%, 6%, and 0% for scores of 6, 5, 1, and 0 points, respectively. In the validation group, the proportions were similar (90%, 100%, 0%, and 0%, respectively) with an AUC-ROC of 0.96 (95% CI, 0.90-1.00; p<0.001). Conclusion : Our CTA-ABC score reliably assessed risk for sICH and/or MMCAI in patients with AIS who underwent EVT. It can support clinical decision-making, especially when the need for EVT is uncertain.
