Differential expression of ginsenoside biosynthesis-related genes at an early developmental stage of Panax vietnamensis

        Ly H. Luu,Pham Hang L. B.,Huynh Hue T. T.,Nguyen Linh N.,Vu Trinh T.,Le Hien T. T. 한국식물생명공학회 2022 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.16 No.2

Panax vietnamensis Ha et Grushv., an important medicinal plant in Vietnam, consists of several valuable ginsenosides. Compared to other Panax species, molecular and in silico studies concerning its transcriptomes and ginsenoside biosyn- thesis-related genes are still lacking. In this study, the transcriptomes of 1-year-old leaves and roots of P. vietnamensis were sequenced and analyzed using the Illumina system. The expression of the selected ginsenoside biosynthesis-related genes was confirmed using real-time PCR. In total, 42,724, 41,564, and 43,021 unigenes were assembled for leaves, roots, and leaf and root tissues, respectively. More than 60% of the unigenes from both tissues were functionally annotated using at least one database from the Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes, Pfam, gene ontology, the National Center for Biotechnol- ogy Information (NCBI) non-redundant protein sequence database, and the evolutionary genealogy of genes. Furthermore, the expression of the predominant transcripts in each cDNA library was analyzed and identified. In addition, 457 unigenes encoding the enzymes involved in ginsenoside biosynthesis were identified. Most genes encoding enzymes related to ginse- noside biosynthesis via both MVA and non-MVA pathways are indicated. Quantitative PCR analysis showed that β-amyrin synthase (β-AS), cytochrome P450 (CYP716A53v2, CYP716A52v2), and UDP-glycosyl transferase (UGT74AE2) were highly expressed, more so in the roots than in the leaves. Our results may answer the question of how genes are expressed and whether ginsenosides are produced and accumulated in the first growing year of P. vietnamensis leaves and roots. This first comprehensive transcriptome data of 1-year-old leaves and roots of P. vietnamensis is useful for further investigation of gin- seng development, biosynthesis, major secondary metabolite pathways, and related gene expression in different tissues and developmental stages. Data also provide useful information for improving ginseng biosynthesis using biotechnology tools.

Nonlinearity in inverse and transverse piezoelectric properties of Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 film actuators under AC and DC applied voltages

Nguyen Minh D.,Vu Hung N.,Rijnders Guus 한국물리학회 2021 Current Applied Physics Vol.32 No.-

The motion of domain walls is a crucial factor in piezoelectric properties and is usually related to the irreversible and hysteretic behaviors. Herein, we report on the investigation of inverse and transverse piezoelectric coefficients of capacitor-based and microcantilever-based Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 films with a change in the DC bias and the AC applied voltage. A large inverse piezoelectric strain coefficient of about 350 p.m./V, and a low strain hysteresis of about 7.1%, are achieved in the film capacitors under a low applied voltage of 2 V (20 kV/cm) which can benefit the actuators for motion control in high-precision systems. The field-dependences of the transverse piezoelectric coefficients, obtained from four-point bending and microcantilever displacement, are in good agreement with each other. The results also reveal that the irreversible domain-wall motion is attributed to the nonlinearity in the field-dependent piezoelectric strain and cantilever displacement.

Experimental evidence of breakdown strength and its effect on energystorage performance in normal and relaxor ferroelectric films

        Minh D. Nguyen,Chi T.Q. Nguyen,Hung N. Vu,Guus Rijnders 한국물리학회 2019 Current Applied Physics Vol.19 No.9

Normal-ferroelectric Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PZT) and relaxor-ferroelectric Pb0.9La0.1(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PLZT) thinfilms are deposited on SrRuO3-covered SrTiO3/Si substrates. An ultrahigh recoverable energy-storage density (Ureco) of 68.2 J/cm3 and energy efficiency (η) of 80.4% are achieved in the PLZT thin-films under a large breakdown strength (EBD) of 3600 kV/cm. These values are much lower in the PZT thin-films (Ureco of 10.3 J/ cm3 and η of 62.4% at EBD of 1000 kV/cm). In addition, the remanent polarization (Pr) and dielectric-constant are also investigated to evaluate the breakdown strength in thin-films. Polar nano-regions (PNRs) are created in the PLZT thin-films to enable relaxor behavior and lead to slim polarization loops along with very small Pr. The excellent operating temperature of energy-storage performance and also the breakdown strength obtained in the PLZT thin-films are mainly ascribed to the presence of PNRs. Moreover, both PZT and PLZT thin-films exhibit superior performance up to 1010 times of charge-discharge cycling.

      • Appropriation of Protocol for Laparoscopic Pancreaticoduodenectomy in Treatment of Periampullary Cancer

( Minh Hai Pham ),( Quan Anh Tuan Le ),( Hoang Bac Nguyen ),( Quang Hung Vu ),( Thai Ngoc Huy Tran ),( Hang Dang Khoa N Guyen ),( Thi Ngoc Sang Duong ),( Van Toan Tran ) 대한간학회 2020 춘·추계 학술대회 (KASL) Vol.2020 No.1

Aims: Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is considered as a safe and effective procedure in well - selected patients and appropriate surgical technique. Our aim is to evaluate suitability of using protocol for LPD in treatment of periampullary cancer at a single team. Methods: case series Results: Indication for LPD included 37 cases with resectable tumors which were classified basing on NCCN. All witness evaluation risk of complications with PREPARE score, ASA and evaluation risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) with FRS classification. There were 2 open conversions because of vein resections, accounting for 5.4%. Standard lymphadenectomy was performed in all of 37 cases. In term of PREPARE score, major complications (Clavien - Dindo >= III) were 17.8%, 0% and 0% (5/28, 0/5 and 0/2 cases) in low risk, intermediate risk and high risk group, respectively. All of cases had ASA I or II. POPF happened 11.1% (1/9), 4.1% (1/24) and 50% (1/2) in low risk, intermediate risk and high risk group, respectively. Frozen section was needed for R0 margin. Retrieved lymph nodes was 8 - 18 with 12 lymph nodes in average. Conclusions: Indication for LPD with resectable tumors is acceptable. ASA I or II is a safe measure to select patient for LPD. FRS classification shows appropriation to evaluate risk of POPF.
