      • A Robust Information Hiding Scheme for Protecting Digital Content in DWT-CS Domain

        In information hiding field, the robustness is the important performance. However, due to embedding a larger amount of the watermark into host signal, transparency and robustness of the watermarked image cannot be easily obtained, simultaneously. Utilizing measurement values of original image to produce hiding information block-based Compressed Sensing (BCS) theory in DWT domain, the paper presents a robust information hiding scheme for protecting digital content. When the scheme is achieved, embedding locations of the hiding information will be selected by visual features and relation of DWT coefficients between subbands LH3 and LH2 of the host image. Moreover the mechanism of JND (just-noticeable distortion) was used to adjust the embedding watermark strength. Experimental results show that the scheme is more robust compared with other hiding algorithm reported, and improves effectively the recovery quality of the hidden image.

        Research on a fault diagnosis method of rolling bearings using variation mode decomposition and deep belief network

        The working conditions of rolling bearings during the running change in real time. Aiming at the problem of fault diagnosis of rolling bearing under complex working conditions, a new fault diagnosis (VHDBN) method based on variation mode decomposition (VMD), Hilbert transform (HT) and deep belief network (DBN) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the proposed fault diagnosis method performs the VMD decomposition for the time domain signal in order to obtain a series of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), and Hilbert envelope spectrum is obtained by Hilbert transform. The Hilbert envelope spectrum is used to construct the feature matrix, which is used as an input of the DBN network in order to obtain a fault diagnosis model. In order to test and verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis method, the experimental data of rolling bearings under variable load is used in here. The experimental results show that the VMD-Hilbert envelope spectrum can better reflect the fault characteristics than the time domain spectrum, and the proposed fault diagnosis method under variable load has higher recognition accuracy than other comparison methods.

        In vitro differentiation of spermatogonial stem cells using testicular cells from Guangxi Bama mini-pig

        In this study, we attempted to establish a culture system for in vitro spermatogenesis from spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) of Bama mini-pig. Dissociated testicular cells from 1-month-old pigs were co-cultured to mimic in vivo spermatogenesis. The testicular cells were seeded in minimum essential medium alpha (a-MEM) supplemented with Knockout serum replacement (KSR). Three-dimensional colonies formed after 10 days of culture. The colonies showed positive staining for SSC-associated markers such as UCHL1, PLZF, THY1, OCT4, Dolichos biflorus agglutinin, and alkaline phosphatase. Induction of SSCs was performed in a-MEM + KSR supplemented with retinoic acid, bone morphogenetic protein 4, activin A, follicle-stimulating hormone, or testosterone. The results showed that STRA8, DMC1, PRM1, and TNP1 were upregulated significantly in the colonies after induction compared to that in testis from 1-month-old pigs, while expression levels of those genes were significantly low compared to those in 2-month-old testis. However, upregulation of ACROSIN was not significant. Replacement of a-MEM and KSR with Iscove’s modified Dulbecco’s medium and fetal bovine serum did not upregulate expression of these genes significantly. These results indicate that SSCs of Bama mini-pig could undergo differentiation and develop to a post-meiotic stage in α-MEM supplemented with KSR and induction factors.

      • On the Security and Robustness with Fingerprint Watermarking Signal via Compressed Sensing

        In information hiding scheme, the security and robustness of watermarking are two important performances. Based on the design of secure watermarking signal, this paper proposes a robust video information hiding solution for protecting fingerprint content. In our proposed method, construction of fingerprint watermarking signal from the compressed sensing (CS) measurements relies on the knowledge of the measurement matrix used for sensing, in which generation of the CS matrix can offer a natural method for the secret key. The key has the inherent advantage that encryption of the watermarking signal occurs implicitly in the sensing process, and does not require additional computation. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed secure watermarking signal can possess the better robustness in the video watermark application, and can reconstruct highly the original fingerprint image.

        An Attention-based Temporal Network for Parkinson's Disease Severity Rating using Gait Signals

        Parkinson's disease (PD) is a typical, chronic neurodegenerative disease involving the concentration of dopamine, which can disrupt motor activity and cause different degrees of gait disturbance relevant to PD severity in patients. As current clinical PD diagnosis is a complex, time-consuming, and challenging task that relays on physicians' subjective evaluation of visual observations, gait disturbance has been extensively explored to make automatic detection of PD diagnosis and severity rating and provides auxiliary information for physicians' decisions using gait data from various acquisition devices. Among them, wearable sensors have the advantage of flexibility since they do not limit the wearers' activity sphere in this application scenario. In this paper, an attention-based temporal network (ATN) is designed for the time series structure of gait data (vertical ground reaction force signals) from foot sensor systems, to learn the discriminative differences related to PD severity levels hidden in sequential data. The structure of the proposed method is illuminated by Transformer Network for its success in excavating temporal information, containing three modules: a preprocessing module to map intra-moment features, a feature extractor computing complicated gait characteristic of the whole signal sequence in the temporal dimension, and a classifier for the final decision-making about PD severity assessment. The experiment is conducted on the public dataset PDgait of VGRF signals to verify the proposed model's validity and show promising classification performance compared with several existing methods.

        One-Step CVD Synthesis of Few-Layer SnS2/MoS2 Vertical Heterostructures

        Constructing van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures with various-layered two-dimensional (2D) materials is attractive to design various materials and devices. For controllable fabrication of vdW heterostructures, it is very important to make the growth process clear. In this work, SnS2/MoS2 vertical heterostructures were synthesized by the one-step chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The bottom MoS2 triangle layers can be partially or completely covered by SnS2 layers. The interlayer charge separation was also observed in the heterostructures by photo-luminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The growth mechanism of SnS2/MoS2 vertical heterostructures was also discussed for the first time. MoS2 triangle layers form on the substrates at first and then grow a top layer of SnS2. This study will provide an important and practical method, as a guidance to prepare high-quality vertical heterostructures.

        Comparative Metabolite Profiling and Hormone Analysis of Perennial and Annual Rice

        Perenniality is one of the important topics in rice breeding which is generally accompanied by complex physiobiochemical processes. To understand the metabolic characteristics of perennial rice, in the present study, gas chromatography–mass spectrometry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays were used to profile the distribution patterns of 33 primary metabolites and hormones [indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and zeatin riboside (ZR)] of annual (RD23) and perennial (Oryza longistaminata and the line AA with RD23 genetic background) rice genotypes. Results showed that both metabolites and hormones have distinct genotype and organ distribution patterns, and considerable variations were observed between the metabolites in stem bases of perennial and annual rice. Most of the metabolites,including sugars, organic acids, and amino acids, significantly accumulated in the stem bases of perennial rice by decreasing the level in roots and leaves. Fifteen metabolites consistently accumulated significantly in the stem bases of both perennial genotypes. Additionally, the organ-level IAA content and IAA/ZR ratio in the two perennials were considerably higher than those in RD23. The present study indicated that the significant accumulation of the metabolites at stem base and the higher IAA/ZR ratio are involved

        An Electrochemical Sensor Based on Graphene-Polypyrrole Nanocomposite for the Specific Detection of Pb (II)

        An electrochemical sensor for the rapid, selective and sensitive detection of Pb2+ was developed using polypyrrole-graphene (PPY-rGO) nanocomposite by electrochemical synthesis. The PPYrGO-modified electrode possessed a large effective area because of unique 3D porous architectures, and it displayed excellent selectivity for the determination of Pb2+. The response of Pb2+ on the nanocomposite-modified electrode was evaluated, and the relevant parameters were optimized by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The stripping response was highly linear (R2 = 0.987) over a Pb2+ concentration range of 5 X 10-9 mol/L to 7.5 X 10-7 mol/L, with a detection limit of 4.7 X 10-11 mol/L (3σ method). Furthermore, its applicability was validated for the determination of Pb2+ levels using spiked tap water at different concentrations. The polyporous structure, satisfactory reproducibility, long-term stability and simple synthesis endow the PPY-rGO nanocomposite a promising application in the determination of Pb2+.
