Aqueous processing of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 green tapes

Shaochun Li,Yongjuan Geng,Qilong Zhang,Hui Yang 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2011 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.12 No.2

An aqueous tape casting of Li1.075Nb0.625Ti0.45O3 (LNT) ceramics was developed using PCA-NH4 as dispersant, PVA as binder and EG as plasticizer. Flexible, defect-free and smooth tapes of LNT were successfully produced. The study focused on obtaining the optimum slurry formulations and on the effects of the processing parameters such as the stability, the rheology on the properties on the tape characteristics. Surface properties of LNT powders in the aqueous suspensions are distinctly influenced by PCA-NH4. The zeta potential measurement showed that the isoelectric point (IEP) of LNT powders in the absence of dispersant corresponds to a pH value of 3.7. The zeta potential values (absolute values) increased with the amount of dispersant and up to its maximum near pH 9-10. The rheology measurements of all the slurries investigated showed the desired shear thinning behavior, indicating that the LNT slurry was homogenous and well stabilized. An optimum formulation for the tape was investigated and it was shown that a high solid loading (50 wt%) would lead to a high relative green density (46.7%). Homogenous, smooth, and defect-free green tapes were successfully obtained by an appropriate slurry formula.

Evidence for the medicinal value of Squama Manitis (pangolin scale): A systematic review

        Xinyao Jin,Hui Zi Chua,Keyi Wang,Nan Li,Wenke Zheng,Wentai Pang,Fengwen Yang,Bo Pang,Mingyan Zhang,Junhua Zhang 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.1

Background: Squama Manitis (pangolin scale) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. However, its efficacy has not been systematically reviewed. This review aims to fill the gap. Methods: We searched six electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), WanFang Database and SinoMed from inception to May 1, 2020. Search terms included “pangolin”, “Squama Manitis”, “Manis crassicaudata”, “Manis javanica”, “Malayan pangolins”, “Manis pentadactyla”, “Ling Li”, “Chuan Shan Jia”, “Shan Jia”, “Pao Jia Zhu”, “Jia Pian” and “Pao Shan Jia”. The Cochrane Risk of Bias (RoB) assessment tool and Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) were used to evaluate the risk of bias of the included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and case control studies (CCSs). Results: After screening, 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were finally included. There were 4 randomized controlled trials, 1 case control study, 3 case series and 7 case reports. A total of 15 different diseases were reported in these studies, thus the data could not be merged to generate powerful results. Two RCTs suggested that Squama Manitis combined with herbal decoction or antibiotics could bring additional benifit for treating postpartum hypogalactia and mesenteric lymphadenitis. However, this result was not reliable due to low methodological quality and irrational outcomes. The other two RCTs generated negative results. All the non-RCTs did not add any valuable evidence to the efficacy of Squama Manitis beacause of small samples, incomplete records, non-standardized outcome detection. In general, currently available evidence cannot support the clinical use of Squama Manitis. Conclusion: There is no reliable evidence that Squama Manitis has special medicinal value. The removal of Squama Manitis from Pharmacopoeia is rational.

High-performance solid-state flexible supercapacitor based on reduced graphene oxide/hierarchical core-shell Ag nanowire@NiAl layered double hydroxide film electrode

        Li, Lei,Hui, Kwan San,Hui, Kwun Nam,Zhang, Tengfei,Fu, Jianjian,Cho, Young-Rae Elsevier 2018 CHEMICAL ENGINEERING JOURNAL -LAUSANNE- Vol.348 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>All-solid-state flexible supercapacitor (AFSC) is a promising energy storage device due to its high flexibility, security, and environmental friendliness. However, high electrical resistance and low specific capacitance of electrodes limit its application for potential portable electronic devices. In this study, we design a novel hybrid film electrode composed of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/silver nanowire (Ag NW)@nickel aluminum layered double hydroxide (NiAl LDH; herein, GAL) possessing high electrochemical performance by using hydrothermal and vacuum filtration techniques. The Ag NW@NiAl LDH (AL) composites with hierarchical core-shell structure are utilized to increase electroactive surface area and improve electrical conductivity, while the rGO nanosheets serve as a prominent carbon material with outstanding electrical conductivity and mechanical flexibility. The freestanding GAL electrode shows high specific capacitance of 1148 F g−1 at 1 A g−1 compared with rGO/NiAl LDH (GL) of 765.2 F g−1 at 1 A g−1. Furthermore, the bind-free symmetric AFSC device is successfully prepared using GAL hybrid film as electrodes and PVA-KOH as solid-state gel electrolyte. The GAL//GAL AFSC device delivers a superior specific capacitance of 127.2 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, a high energy density of 35.75 mWh cm−3 at a power density of 1.01 W cm−3, and great cycling ability of 83.2% over 10,000 cycles at 5 A g−1. A novel and effective approach to enhance the interfacial interactions of meta-aramid fibers

        Hui Zhang,Xiaoyun Du,Jiawei Liu,YunHong Bai,Jingyi Nie,Jiaojun Tan,Zhibin He,Meiyun Zhang,Jinbao Li,Yonghao Ni 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.120 No.-

Meta-aramid paper exhibits some unique properties, including high temperature resistance, electricalinsulation. However, due to the inherent chemical inertness of aramid fibers, the interfacial bondingbetween fibers is weak, which negatively affect the properties of aramid paper. Herein, we report a simple, effective and scalable process for substantially improving the interfacial bonding between aramidfibers, thus, mechanical and insulating properties of the meta-aramid composite paper, and it wasachieved by surface coating of aramid paper with meta-aramid stock solution that contains N, N dimethylacetamide(DMAc)-CaCl2 and high molecular weight poly (m-phenylene isophthalamide) polymers. Results show that the tensile strength, modulus, internal bond strength and tearing index of the resultantall-PMIA paper increased by 83 %, 58 %, 173 % and 89 %, respectively, in comparison with those of the control. The breakdown strength of the improved aramid paper is 190 % higher than that of the control paper, attaining 26.46 KV/mm. This work provides a simple, economical, efficient, and scalable method toimprove the overall performance of meta-aramid paper, which has great potential to be implementedat the industrial scale.

Properties of an AlGaN/AlN Distributed-Bragg-reflector Structure

        Li-Li Zhang,Zhan-Hui Liu,Xiao-Gu Huang,Qing-Fang Li,Rong Zhang,Zi-Li Xie,Xiang-Qian Xiu 한국물리학회 2014 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.65 No.7

An AlGaN/AlN distributed-Bragg-reflector (DBR) structure with a high Al content was grown byusing plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PA-MBE). The properties of the sample were characterizedby using the transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution X-ray diffraction, atomicforce microscopy, and reflectivity spectrum measurements. The reciprocal space mapping analysisindicated that the strain in the AlGaN layers was partially relaxed. The morphology of the DBRexhibited a surface covered by grains (average size of about 130 nm), and the surface roughness wasabout 2 nm. The spectral measurements showed that the DBR structure presented a peak reflectivityof 68.8% at the center wavelength of 247 nm, which indicated that this DBR structure couldwork in the deep solar-blind UV region with acceptable reflectivity. However, the optical propertiesof the DBR structure were deteriorated by the fluctuation of the Al composition, non-uniformity ofthe layer thickness, the blurry, rough interface in the DBR structure, and so on.

      • Validity and Necessity of Sub-classification of N3 in the 7th UICC TNM Stage of Gastric Cancer

Li, Fang-Xuan,Zhang, Ru-Peng,Liang, Han,Quan, Ji-Chuan,Liu, Hui,Zhang, Hui Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3

Background: The $7^{th}$ TNM staging is the first authoritative standard for evaluation of effectiveness of treatment of gastric cancer worldwide. However, revision of pN classification within TNM needs to be discussed. In particular, the N3 sub-stage is becoming more conspicuous. Methods: Clinical data of 302 pN3M0 stage gastric cancer patients who received radical gastrectomy in Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from January 2001 to May 2006 were retrospectively analyzed. Results: Location of tumor, depth of invasion, extranodal metastasis, gastric resection, combined organs resection, lymph node metastasis, rate of lymph node metastasis, negative lymph nodes count were important prognostic factors of pN3M0 stage gastric cancers. TNM stage was also associated with prognosis. Patients at T2N3M0 stage had a better prognosis than other sub-classification. T3N3M0 and T4aN3aM0 patients had equal prognosis which followed the T2N3M0. T4aN3bM0 and T4bN3aM0 had lower survival rate than the formers. T4bN3bM0 had worst prognosis. In multivariate analysis, TNM stage group and rate of lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors. Conclusions: The sub-stage of N3 may be useful for more accurate prediction of prognosis; it should therefore be applied in the TNM stage system.

      • β-elemene Induces Caspase-dependent Apoptosis in Human Glioma Cells in vitro through the Upregulation of Bax and Fas/FasL and Downregulation of Bcl-2

        Li, Chen-Long,Chang, Liang,Guo, Lin,Zhao, Dan,Liu, Hui-Bin,Wang, Qiu-Shi,Zhang, Ping,Du, Wen-Zhong,Liu, Xing,Zhang, Hai-Tao,Liu, Yang,Zhang, Yao,Xie, Jing-Hong,Ming, Jian-Guang,Cui, Yu-Qiong,Sun, Ying Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.23

Background: ${\beta}$-elemene, extracted from herb medicine Curcuma wenyujin has potent anti-tumor effects in various cancer cell lines. However, the activity of ${\beta}$-elemene against glioma cells remains unclear. In the present study, we assessed effects of ${\beta}$-elemene on human glioma cells and explored the underlying mechanism. Materials and Methods: Human glioma U87 cells were used. Cell proliferation was determined with MTT assay and colony formation assay to detect the effect of ${\beta}$-elemene at different doses and times. Fluorescence microscopy was used to observe cell apoptosis with Hoechst 33258 staining and change of glioma apoptosis and cell cycling were analyzed by flow cytometry. Real-time quantitative PCR and Western-blotting assay were performed to investigated the influence of ${\beta}$-elemene on expression levels of Fas/FasL, caspase-3, Bcl-2 and Bax. The experiment was divided into two groups: the blank control group and ${\beta}$-elemne treatment group. Results: With increase in the concentration of ${\beta}$-elemene, cytotoxic effects were enhanced in the glioma cell line and the concentration of inhibited cell viability ($IC_{50}$) was $48.5{\mu}g/mL$ for 24h. ${\beta}$-elemene could induce cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. With Hoechst 33258 staining, apoptotic nuclear morphological changes were observed. Activation of caspase-3,-8 and -9 was increased and the pro-apoptotic factors Fas/FasL and Bax were upregulated, while the anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 was downregulated after treatment with ${\beta}$-elemene at both mRNA and protein levels. Furthermore, proliferation and colony formation by U87 cells were inhibited by ${\beta}$-elemene in a time and does-dependent manner. Conclusions: Our results indicate that ${\beta}$-elemene inhibits growth and induces apoptosis of human glioma cells in vitro. The induction of apoptosis appears to be related with the upregulation of Fas/FasL and Bax, activation of caspase-3,-8 and -9 and downregulation of Bcl-2, which then trigger major apoptotic cascades.
