U-phosphate biomineralization induced by Bacillus sp. dw-2 in the presence of organic acids
Hong Tu,Guoyuan Yuan,Changsong Zhao,Jun Liu,Feize Li,Jijun Yang,Jiali Liao,Yuanyou Yang,Ning Liu 한국원자력학회 2019 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.51 No.5
In this paper, we systematically investigated the influence of some selected ligands on the U-phosphateprecipitation induced by soil bacteria. These organics are widely ranging from acetate, lactate, salicylateand citrate to oxalate. The results revealed that uranium could be biomineralized on bacteria asUO2HPO4$4H2O or (UO2)3(PO4)2$4H2O. The influence of organic ligands on the biomineralization hadclear-cut correlations with its complexation abilities to uranyl. It was clearly found that the U-phosphatebiomineralization was affected noticeably by the strong ligands (oxalate and citrate). Further studydiscovered that when the organic ligands were uncompetitive with biotic PO4 3 for uranyl, the transformationof uranyl species from b-UO2(OH)2 colloidal particles to free UO2 2 þ-ligands ions could facilitatethe U-phosphate biomineralization. However, when the organic ligands competed with biotic PO4 3 foruranyl, the U-phosphate biomineralization were inhibited. Our results highlight the importance ofcomplex interactions of strong organic ligands with uranyl during the bacterial precipitation of UePcompounds and thus for the mobilization and immobilization of radio-nuclides in the nature.
Bearing Fault Diagnosis Using Fuzzy Inference Optimized by Neural Network and Genetic Algorithm
Hong-Hee Lee,Ngoc-Tu Nguyen,Jeong-Min Kwon 대한전기학회 2007 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.2 No.3
The bearing diagnostics method is presented in this paper using fuzzy inference based on vibration data. Both time-domain and frequency-domain features are used as input data for bearing fault detection. The Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Genetic Algorithm (GA) have been proposed to select the fuzzy model input and output parameters. Training results give the optimized fuzzy inference system for bearing diagnosis based on measured vibration data. The result is also tested with other sets of bearing data to illustrate the reliability of the chosen model.

The paper discusses the main problems in induction motor diagnosis by motor current and vibration signals, possible faults and effects produced by these faults in the signal spectrums. Decision Tree is introduced as a tool to diagnose the motor status, this expert system is implemented to detect the incipient defects, supervise and predict them, and plan the maintenance of the motor.
CU+ ION EXTRACTION FROM A MODIFIED BERNAS ION SOURCE IN A METAL-ION IMPLANTER
Hong, In-Seok,Lee, Hwa-Ryun,Trinh, Tu Anh,Cho, Yong-Sub Korean Nuclear Society 2009 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.41 No.5
An ion implanter, which can serve as a metal-ion supply, has been constructed and performance tested. Copper ions are generated and extracted from a Bernas ion source with a heating crucible that provides feed gases to sustain the plasma. Sable arc plasmas can be sustained in the ion source for a crucible temperature in excess of $350^{\circ}C$. Stable extraction of the ions is possible for arc Currents less than 0.3 A. Arc currents increase with the induced power of a block cathode and the transverse field in the ion source. $Cu^+$ ions in the extracted beam are separated using a dipole magnet. A $20{\mu}A$ $Cu^+$ ion current can be extracted with a 0.2 A arc current. The ion current can support a dose of $10^{16}ions/cm^2$ over an area of $15\;cm^2$ within a few hours.

Background: Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), considered to have tumor-promoting potential, is highly expressed in a variety of tumors, including breast cancer. Since the functions and action mechanisms of COX-2 in breast cancer have not been fully elucidated, in the present study, the effects of target inhibiting COX-2 with recombinant adenovirus Ad-COX-2-shRNA on malignant biological behavior were investigated in representative cell lines. Materials and Methods: Breast cancer MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were transfected with Ad-COX-2-shRNA and COX-2 expression was tested by RT-PCR and Western blotting. Changes in proliferation, apoptosis and invasion of breast cancer cells were detected with various assays including MTT, colony forming, flowcytometry and Transwell invasion tests. The expression of related proteins involved in the cell cycle, apoptosis, invasion and signaling pathways was assessed by Western blotting. Results: COX-2 expression was significantly reduced in both breast cancer cell lines infected with Ad-COX-2-shRNA, with obvious inhibition of proliferation, colony forming rate, G2/M phase passage and invasion, as well as induction of apoptosis, in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells, respectively. At the same time, proteins related to the cell cycle, anti-apoptosis and invasion were significantly downregulated. In addition, c-myc expression and phosphorylation activation of Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin and p38MAPK pathways were reduced by the Ad-COX-2-shRNA. Conclusions: COX-2 expression is associated with proliferation, apoptosis and invasion of breast cancer cells, and its mechanisms of action involve regulating expression of c-myc through the p38MAPK and Wnt/${\beta}$-catenin pathways.

Wellbore trajectory control tool is a sort of point-the-bit drilling tool to achieve the steering function while drilling. In complex conditions, the spindle bears the acting force of the bit pressure, the torque, the force of biasing mechanism and so on. So the force is very complex. Basing on the early research of our group, the further research of spindle deflecting reliability of prototype has been carried out. Based on the contact analysis between the tool spindle and the inner eccentric ring, the variation law of contact stress between the inner ring of the eccentric mechanism and the spindle is studied. Based on Palmgren-Miner and the fatigue life experiment of the spindle material, the cumulative damage calculation model of the spindle is established, and the fatigue life of spindle is solved. The result shows that the deflecting reliability of the spindle can be guaranteed.

Gene editing (GE) offers a new breeding technique (NBT) of sustainable value to animal agriculture. There are 3 GE working sites covering 5 feasible pathways to generate GE pigs along with the crucial intervals of GE/genotyping, microinjection/electroporation, induced pluripotent stem cells, somatic cell nuclear transfer, cryopreservation, and nonsurgical embryo transfer. The extension of NBT in the new era of pig breeding depends on the synergistic effect of GE and reproductive biotechnologies; the outcome relies not only on scientific due diligence and operational excellence but also on the feasibility of application on farms to improve sustainability.
