        The Regulation of LexA on UV-Induced SOS Response in Myxococcus xanthus Based on Transcriptome Analysis

        SOS response is a conserved response to DNA damage in prokaryotes and is negatively regulated by LexA protein, which recognizes specifically an “SOS-box” motif present in the promoter region of SOS genes. Myxococcus xanthus DK1622 possesses a lexA gene, and while the deletion of lexA had no significant effect on either bacterial morphology, UV-C resistance, or sporulation, it did delay growth. UV-C radiation resulted in 651 upregulated genes in M. xanthus, including the typical SOS genes lexA, recA, uvrA, recN and so on, mostly enriched in the pathways of DNA replication and repair, secondary metabolism, and signal transduction. The UV-irradiated lexA mutant also showed the induced expression of SOS genes and these SOS genes enriched into a similar pathway profile to that of wild-type strain. Without irradiation treatment, the absence of LexA enhanced the expression of 122 genes that were not enriched in any pathway. Further analysis of the promoter sequence revealed that in the 122 genes, only the promoters of recA2, lexA and an operon composed of three genes (pafB, pafC and cyaA) had SOS box sequence to which the LexA protein is bound directly. These results update our current understanding of SOS response in M. xanthus and show that UV induces more genes involved in secondary metabolism and signal transduction in addition to DNA replication and repair; and while the canonical LexA-dependent regulation on SOS response has shrunk, only 5 SOS genes are directly repressed by LexA.

        스토리텔링을 활용한 중국 산서성 대동시 화엄거리의 공공디자인에 대한 연구

        중국 북쪽의 산서성 대동시는 오랜 역사문화와 지역적 특색을 가지고 있는 고도(古都)이다. 특히 화엄사 주변의 화엄거리는 예로부터 종교 문화와 상업 문화가 혼재하는 문화적으로 융성한 곳이었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 화엄거리의 역사 문화적 전통을 회복하고 지역의 경제를 활성화하기 위한 공공디자인의 새로운 개념의 제안을 목적으로 한다. 특히 지역문화에 존재하는 역사문화적 스토리를 반영하여 화엄거리의 공공디자인에 적용하는 연구를 진행했다. 먼저 화엄거리의 발전과정을 소개하였고 그 역사 문화 이야기에 대해 수집과 발굴 작업을 진행하였다. 그리고 화엄거리 공공 디자인의 현황에 대해 분석을 진행하여 이 거리의 부족한 점과 사람들의 이목을 끌지 못하는 원인 등을 찾았다. 이어서 스토리텔링에서 이야기를 구성하는 서술 방법인 ‘기승전결’, 네 부분의 플롯을 구성하여 이 지역의 역사와 문화가 담긴 스토리에 근거한 새로운 디자인을 제안하였다. 화엄거리가 가지고 있는 역사문화적인 스토리를 발굴하여 스토리텔링에 기반한 전체적인 이미지 개선에 초점을 두고, 인문학적인 색채를 더한 거리의 공공 디자인 개념을 제시하도록 한다. The research object is Huayan Street, which is located in Datong City of Shanxi Province in Northern China. And it’s detailedly seated to the east of the Huayan Temple. This street is a multicultural area which covers religious and business culture, along with other kinds of civilization since ancient time. The purpose of this research is to restore the historical and cultural tradition, improving the economic development. This research will use the theory of narrative to analyze the public design of Huayan Street. It’s present the new design concept to reflect the cultural story of this region. First of all, the cultural stories of Huayan Street were explored and collected by introducing the history. Secondly, the drawbacks of public design of this street were found out by analyzing the current situation in Huayan Street At the end of this paper, a design solution was proposed according to the history and culture with story-telling methods from narratology which depart the street into four scenes opening, developing, changing and concluding. The innovation point of this research is apply humanism into the public design of Huayan Street and rebuild the image of Huayan Street.

        Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α and cancer-related cell signaling pathways: a promising insight into cancer treatment

        Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α (HNF4α), a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily, is described as a protein that binds to the promoters of specific genes. It controls the expression of functional genes and is also involved in the regulation of numerous cellular processes. A large number of studies have demonstrated that HNF4α is involved in many human malignancies. Abnormal expression of HNF4α is emerging as a critical factor in cancer cell proliferation, apoptosis, invasion, dedifferentiation, and metastasis. In this review, we present emerging insights into the roles of HNF4α in the occurrence, progression, and treatment of cancer; reveal various mechanisms of HNF4α in cancer (e.g., the Wnt/β-catenin, nuclear factor-κB, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3, and transforming growth factor β signaling pathways); and highlight potential clinical uses of HNF4α as a biomarker and therapeutic target for cancer.

        한(韓)ㆍ중(中) 문화교류를 통한 전통조경의 비교 연구

        전통조경은 선현(先賢)들이 현대사회에게 남긴 문화적 자산으로, 고대의 전통문화를 이해할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 현대의 조경설계에도 새롭고 창의적인 소재를 제공할 수 있다. 한ㆍ중 양국은 고대부터 문화교류를 통해 전통 조경문화의 계승과 보호 및 발전을 이루었을 뿐만 아니라 ‘전통과 현대’ 및 '지역성과 국제성'이 서로 어우러져 발전하여 왔음은 익히 잘 알려져 있다. 본 연구는 한ㆍ중 전통조경의 비교 연구를 목적으로 우선 양국 전통조경문화를 선행연구 문헌을 통해 분석하였다. 다음으로 양국의 문화적 배경을 종교사상, 전통문화, 자연관으로 나눠 해석하고 양국의 조경 역사와 원류관계를 조명하였다. 이를 바탕으로 한ㆍ중 조경 사조(思潮)의 비교 및 전통조경의 발전과정, 한ㆍ중 조경의 예술적 공간과 경지(境地) 등 세 방향에서 분석 고찰하였으며, 양국의 전통조경의 조성 방식에 있어 차이점을 분석하고, ‘의경조성’ 및 ‘의경수법’을 구명하였다. 특히 본 연구에서는 전통조경의 이론적 배경 및 조경의 경의성(景意性)에 대해 전통조경의 배치 및 주변 환경과 형식 그리고 전통조경의 색채 등을 명ㆍ청시대의 ‘이화원(頤和園)’과 조선 시대의 ‘경복궁(景福宮)’을 사례대상으로 비교 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 한ㆍ중 조경의 특징을 토대로 국제화를 위한 전통적인 조경문화의 계승과 혁신방안을 모색하였다. 한ㆍ중 조경사의 발전 추세에 따른 양국 간 문화교류의 중요성은 아무리 강조해도 지나치지 않다. 앞으로 양국 조경의 발전은 전통문화에 대한 국제 간 협력 및 지역 특색의 창조적 결합, 화이부동(和而不同)한 전통조경 환경의 조성, 다양한 문화의 다층적 상생이 양국의 우호증진에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다. Traditional landscape is a cultural asset left by Seonhyeon to modern society, and it can not only understand the landscape culture of ancient tradition but also provides / provided a new creative material for modern landscape designs / designed. However, it is well known that Korea and China have a relationship between the development and exchange of landscaping in a global background, the succession of traditional landscape architecture culture in a global background covers many dimensions, including protection, development and innovation, and that "traditional and modern" and "regionally and internationality" should be harmonized with each other. This study uses traditional Korean and Chinese landscaping buildings as research subjects to extract and organize related data through various channels, including basic literature research that understands the history and culture of the two countries. I interpreted the cultural backgrounds of the two countries by dividing them into religious ideas, traditional culture, and natural views, and highlighted the history of development and the relationship between the two countries. Based on this, it analyzed the differences created by traditional landscaping between Korea and China, and also specifically analyzed the "creation of righteous army" and "the law of righteous army." In particular, this study sought to inherit and innovate traditional landscape culture for the internationalization of "One Belt, One Road" based on the characteristics of Korea and China's landscape through a comparative analysis of the construction elements and methods of Yihwawon of the Ming and Qing periods and Gyeongbokgung Palace of the Joseon Dynasty on the theoretical background of landscaping and the significance of landscaping. The direction for the development and exchange with landscaping between the two countries was presented in line with the development trend of Korea-China landscaping in the global environment. In the future, the development of landscaping between the two countries is expected to be key to international cooperation in traditional culture, creative combination of local characteristics, creation of a harmonious landscape architecture environment, and co-prosperity of various cultures.

      • Research on the Optimization of the Performance of CTL Loop Discriminator

        Chip Tracking Loop (CTL) is the key to ensure the accuracy of regenerative pseudo-noise ranging in the deep space measurement and control communication system. However, due to the impact of the code imbalance, clock attenuation rate and noise, the loop locking time of CTL is prolonged and the ranging accuracy is degraded. In this paper, we proposed the discriminator optimization algorithm to address this problem. This algorithm is based on the loop discrimination performance of clock code and composite code, and the impact of the noise on the discrimination performance. In order to improve the tracking accuracy and shorten the loop locking time, this algorithm corrected the curve of discriminator’s gain by compensating discriminator’s gain. Both the theory analysis and simulation results illustrate that the algorithm can correct the discriminator’s gain curve, reduce the loop locking time and ensure the significant tracking accuracy in low SNR.

        Experimental Research on the Behaviour of Eccentrically loaded SRC Columns Subjected to the ISO-834 Standard Fire Including a Cooling Phase

        This paper presents an experiment study of the post-fire behavior of five SRC columns under combination of axial eccentrical loading and fire. The experiment phenomena and mechanical response of the SRC column specimens during experiment, specifically loading, heating, cooling and post-fire loading were observed. The residual load bearing capacity, failure modes and vertical deformation were studied. With the test program, the effects of parameters such as the load ratio, the fire duration time and the steel ratio were studied. It is shown that the effects of temperature delay become more obvious with the increase of the depth from the heated surface. Some of the SRC column specimens failed during the cooling phase. For other specimens residual deformations were observed when the furnace temperature decreased to ambient temperature. The influence of some parameters including the load ratio, the fire duration time and the steel ratio on the post-fire load bearing capacities was discussed. It can be concluded that the residual load bearing capacity of the SRC columns decreases with the increase of the fire duration time and the load ratio, and increases with the increase of the steel ratio. Finally, a finite-element analysis model was developed to simulate the behavior of the tested SRC columns.

        Coenurosis of Yak, Bos grunniens, caused by Taenia multiceps: A Case Report with Molecular Identification in Qinghai Tibetan Plateau Area, China

        Coenurosis is an important zoonotic helminthic disease caused by the larval stage of the tapeworm Taenia multiceps. This parasite typically infects the brain of the intermediate hosts, including sheep, goat, cattle and even hu- mans. We report a case of T. multiceps infection in a yak confirmed by clinical symptoms, morphological characteristics, and molecular and phylogenetic analyses. The coenurus was thin-walled, whitish, and spherical in shape with a diameter of 10 cm. The parasite species was identified as T. multiceps by PCR amplification and sequencing of the 18S rRNA, cox1 and nad1 genes. Three gene sequences all showed high homology (all above 97%) with the reference sequences from different hosts. Moreover, phylogenetic reconstructions with the 3 published Taenia gene sequences confirmed that the Qinghai yak isolate was closely related to T. multiceps. Although there are advanced diagnosis and treatment meth- ods for coenurosis, early infection is difficult to diagnose. Importantly, the findings of yak infection case should not be ig- nored due to its zoonotic potential.
