        An Extended $H\ddot{u}ckel$ Study of Two Dimensional Layered Compound: FeOCl

        The electronic structure of two dimensional layered compound, FeOCl, is studied with the band model and the cluster model approximation employing Extended-Huckel (EH) method. We examine the effects of intercalation (e.g., localization of transferred electron, conductivity increase). FeOCl has the electronic structure typical for layered compounds as expected. For FeOCl-$Li_{1/2}$ system, the charge transfer from Li to the FeOCl lattice occurs, and electrons are built up almost exclusively on Fe atoms. The partially filled band of FeOCl-$Li_{1/2}$ complex is responsible for the increase in conductivity.

      • 시뮬레이션을 활용한 전륜 기반 4WD 충격 개선 연구

        Front wheel based electronically controlled four wheel drive system has long been adopted in SUV vehicles to cope with fuel efficiency and cost effectiveness as well as powerful traction on various terrain. Most of FF based 4WD vehicles does not have center differential system and this configuration results in complicated torque distribution behavior between front and rear wheel. On this study, we investigated torque transferring effect by non-center differential 4WD system coming from tire radius difference and steered wheel path differences between front and rear axles. We built 4WD simulation model including driveline vibration and torque distribution behavior. We analyzed tip-in/out shock in 4WD system using dynamic simulation and suggested proper control strategies to minimize the shock and finally we tested the 4WD control strategy in real vehicle.

      • 후두와 뇌경막외혈종에 관한 임상적 관찰

        The authors report 10 cases of PFEDH observed at Dept. of Neurosurgery, Seoul Paik Hospital, from Jan. 1980 till Dec. 1983. Relative infrequency, paucity of early signs, a sense of false security by variable lucid period, and rapid downhill course made it dangerous practically. All patients were diagnosed by Brain CT, which made early diagnosis and early treatment possible. Sudden medullary failure developed in 1 case, and respiratory depression in 2 cases. 9 cases received Suboccipital craniectomy, and 1 case was treated conservatively with follow up CT because of hemopneumothorax. Subdural hygroma was present in 1 case concommitantly, and supratentorial hematoma in 3 cases. All patients improved well without specific sequale.

      • Corporate Environmental Responsibility and Financial Performance Around the World

        This paper examines how environmental costs affect the corporate financial performance (CFP) of manufacturing firms around the world. We maintain that by effectively investing in corporate environment responsibility (CER), executives can decrease their firms’ environmental costs, thereby enhancing CFP. We label this argument as the ‘slack resources’ hypothesis. We find that countries in the Asia-Pacific region have the greatest variation between their return on assets (ROA) and environmental cost-adjusted ROA. This comes at the expense of rapid economic development in the emerging economies in the region. We also find that conventional industries such as the basic resources and the food and beverage industries have substantially high levels of total environmental costs, whereas the opposite holds true for the technology and telecommunication industries. Our results suggest that the reduction of environmental costs is related to higher firm performance. We also identify dynamic relations between these two variables. Lowering environmental costs tends to precede the enhancement of ROA by at least two years. Overall, our findings are supportive of the slack resources hypothesis.

      • Controversial Industries, Regional Differences, and Risk : Role of CSR

        Controversial industry sectors, such as alcohol, gambling, tobacco, and firearms, have suffered organizational legitimacy problems for a long period of time. This paper examines whether corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities reduce the level of risk for firms in controversial industries over the long term in an attempt to seek organizational legitimacy around the world. Using data covering 32 countries, this study finds that both the systematic and total risk for firms in controversial industries are generally higher than those for firms in uncontroversial industries due to their inherent harmful image. We then show that controversial industry firms’ engagement in CSR initiatives and policies has a substantial risk-decreasing effect, and that might increase the probability of obtaining and maintaining the social license to operate. The documented effect of CSR on firm risk, however, is more pronounced for firms in Europe and North America than in the Asia-Pacific region, suggesting differential CSR-risk association in different region. These results are significant and robust even after potential endogeneity problems are mitigated. Our results further show the longterm impact of controversial industry firms’ CSR engagement on firm risk, which is more pronounced in firms under highly developed financial system for each region. We interpret that our results are supportive of the “harmful image”, “social license to operate”, “differential recognition”, and “long-term risk reduction” explanations.

      • Which Monitors Monitor the Most? Dual-Stock Structure and Corporate Governance

        We examine the effects of several corporate governance and monitoring mechanisms on the choice of dual-class status and firm performance of dual-class firms. Employing 736 firms that implemented dual-class and 7,027 single-class firms during the period 1996-2002, we find that dual-class firms tend to be larger, higher director ownership and institutional ownership, lower blockholdings, and smaller fraction of independent outside directors on their board than those of single-class firms. In addition, we observe that dual-class firms are followed by smaller number of security analysts. After correcting for endogeneity bias, our regression results show that firms with higher analyst coverage and lower wedge, measured as the difference between voting rights and cash flow rights, are strongly associated with Tobin’s q. In contrast, blockholders’ ownership, board independence, and institutional ownership play a relatively insignificant role in enhancing Tobin’s q. We interpret our results to mean that security analysts are the most effective monitoring mechanism that influence both the dual-class choice and firm performance. Our results are not attributed either to the difference in firm size or to an industry effect.

      • 보편적 학습설계 분석을 통한 과정중심평가 구현 방안

        본 연구에서는 보편적 학습설계가 과정중심평가에 주는 시사점을 탐색하고, 이를 통해 학교 현장에서 과정중심평가를 계획(수업 전)하고, 실천(수업 중)하며, 평가(수업 후)하는 일련의 구현 방안을 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 2015 개정 교육과정 총론 기준에서 과정중심평가와 관련된 기준을 살펴보고, 보편적 학습설계에 의한 영역별 교수‧학습전략 틀을 바탕으로 목표, 내용, 방법, 평가 등 4가지 관점에서 교수‧학습전략을 제시하여 과정중심평가의 구현 방안을 제안하였다. 목표 설정에서 교사는 목표를 학습자 수준에 맞게 설정해야 하고, 목표의 수준별 다양화를 통해 학습자는 차별화된 학습내용을 선택할 수 있다. 내용 선정은 목표와의 일관성을 고려하여 학습자가 선정한 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 다양한 수준의 학습 내용이 제시되어야 한다. 방법 선정은 학습 내용에 적절한 수업 모형을 적용하되 학습 내용에 대한 수정이나 변경, 개선이 언제든지 가능해야 하고, 학습자의 개별화 학습이 가능하도록 하여 학습자가 설정한 목표에 도달할 수 있도록 지속적인 정보를 제공해야 한다. 평가 선정에서는 다양한 과정중심평가 방법을 활용하여 학습자 자신이 설정한 목표에 적절한 평가를 하고, 교사의 피드백을 통해 학습한 내용을 수정 및 개선할 수 있는 기회를 갖게 하며, 교사도 평가결과를 통해 자신의 교수‧학습을 반성하고 교수학습설계를 수정할 수 있다. 보편적 학습설계는 과정중심평가를 계획, 실천, 평가하는 전 과정에 많은 시사점을 제시하며, 2015 개정 교육과정 총론 기준에는 목표, 내용, 방법, 평가의 각 단계별 지침에서 과정중심평가를 위해 교사가 고려할 점이 무엇이고, 어떻게 해야 하는지 제시하고 있다. 목표, 내용, 방법, 평가는 상호배타적 개념이 아니라 서로 긴밀하게 연계되어 있어 일관된 방향으로 설정되어야 한다. This study aims to explore the implications of the universal design for learning(UDL) in the process-based evaluation and provide a method for implementing the process-based evaluation including the following steps: planning (before class), practicing (during class) and evaluating (after class). To this end, the standards associated with the process-based evaluation in the 2015 revised general guidelines for school curriculum are reviewed, and the teaching/learning strategies in terms of goals, content, methods and evaluation are provided based on the teaching & learning strategy frameworks by domain based on the UDL. Teachers should set the goals depending on the level of learners, and the learners should be able to select differentiated learning content through diversification of the goals by level. Considering consistency between the content and the goal, various levels of learning content should be provided so that the learner can reach his/her selected goal. When selecting the method, it should be possible to change, modify or improve the learning content while applying an appropriate teaching model for the learning content. Information should be continuously provided for the learner’s individual learning and attaining the goal set by the learner. When selecting the evaluation, the appropriate evaluation for the goal set by the learner is evaluated by utilizing various process-based evaluation methods. The learner can have an opportunity to modify and improve the learned content through the teacher’s feedback, and the teacher can reflect on his/her teaching and learning through the evaluation results and modify the teaching and learning design. The UDL provides many suggestions throughout the entire process of planning, practicing and evaluating the process-based evaluation, and the 2015 revised general guidelines for school curriculum provide what the teacher should consider and how the teacher should do for the process-based evaluation in each step of goals, content, method and evaluation. The goals, content, method and evaluation should be consistently established by being closely correlated and not mutually exclusive.

        일점전개함수에 의한 Heteronuclear Diatomic Molecules의 Force Constants의 계산 II. Cubic Force Constants

        LiH, BeH, BH, CH, NH 및 OH 등의 heteronuclear diatomic molecules의 quadratic force constants를 Bishop등의 일점전개함수에 의하여 계산하였다. 계산의 master formula는 본 저자들 중의 한 사람에 의하여 이미 제안된 바 있다. 계산 결과는 실험치와 잘 일치하였다. 일점전개함수의 전개중심에 가까이 위치하고 있는 원자핵의 주위에서의 전자분포는 실제에서 비교적 벗어나며, $P_2(cos{\theta})/r^3$의 전개 중심을 이 원자핵에 잡으면 제안된 식으로부터 그릇된 결과가 얻어지는 것을 발견하였다 The cubic force constants of the binary hydrides, LiH, BeH, BH, CH, NH and OH are evaluated by use of the one center function of Bishop et. al. The results are reasonably good. The master formula suggested in the previous report of the present author is found relatively insensitive to the crudities of the wave function.
