이종숙,신은수,박은혜,김영태,유영의,최일선,유흥옥 이화여자대학교 교육과학연구소 2009 교육과학연구 Vol.40 No.3
This was a preliminary study to construct a developmental rating scale for understanding children's objective developmental levels and screening developmental disabilities. For this purpose, a developmental indicator was selected by a literature review and comparative analysis of related developmental assessment tests. An assessment scale based on teacher's observations to measure language, recognition, and social-emotional developmental areas was developed. The subjects were 435 young children aged 2 to 5 who lived in both urban and rural areas. A trial test consisted of 141 assessment items in the language, recognition, and social-emotional developmental domains. The developmental scale was evaluated by teachers who observed children's behavior and language, and used clues and kits. Tests on validity and reliability for confirming the appropriateness of the developed assessment scale showed that content was relatively valid and internally consistent.

Assessment on Antioxidant Properties of Oplopanax elatus Nakai in vitro
Kim, Jun-Heong,Eom, Seok-Hyun,Lee, Han-Shin,Kim, Jae-Kwang,Yu, Chang-Yeon,Kwon, Yong-Soo,Lee, Ju-Kyong,Kim, Myong-Jo The Korean Society of Medicinal Crop Science 2007 韓國藥用作物學會誌 Vol.15 No.2
Effects of Oplopanax elatus have known to various pharmaceutical therapies. However, chemical prosperities in the plant are rarely investigated. In order to detect biological activity, we evaluated the antioxidant activity of five fractions from methanolic extracts in each part of O. elatus. Also, contents of polyphenols and polysaccharides were measured. Five fractions were of sub-fractions using n-hexane, ethyl-acetate, n-butanol, and water from methanolic extracts. Ethylacetate and n-butanol fractions from stem and root exhibited strong antioxidant activity and high total phenolics content. On the HPLC analysis, ten free phenolics, including p-hydroxybenzoic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, syringic acid, p-cou maric acid, ferulic acid, naringin, hesperidin, quercetin and trans-cinnamic acid, were identified from the fractions and were shown to different quantitative proportions. Furthermore, ethylacetate and n-butanol fraction had the highest amount of chlorogenic acids, one of the cinnamic acid derivatives possessing pharmacological properties. These results indicated that the fractions of O. elatus, as well as methanolic extracts, could be used as natural antioxidative ingredients.

This work aimed to evaluate the feasibility of biohydrogen production from Barley Straw and Miscanthus. The primary obstacle in plant biomass decomposition is the recalcitrance of the biomass itself. Plant cell walls consist of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which make the plant robust to decomposition. However, the hyperthermophilic bacterium, Caldicellulosiruptor bescii, can efficiently utilize lignocellulosic feedstocks (Barley Straw and Miscanthus) for energy production, and C. bescii can now be metabolically engineered or isolated to produce more hydrogen and other biochemicals. In the present study, two strains, C. bescii JWCB001 (wild-type) and JWCB018 (ΔpyrFA Δldh ΔcbeI), were tested for their ability to increase hydrogen production from Barley Straw and Miscanthus. The JWCB018 resulted in a redirection of carbon and electron (carried by NADH) flow from lactate production to acetate and hydrogen production. JWCB018 produced ~54% and 63% more acetate and hydrogen from Barley Straw, respectively than its wild-type counterpart, JWCB001. Also, 25% more hydrogen from Miscanthus was obtained by the JWCB018 strain with 33% more acetate relative to JWCB001. It was supported that the engineered C. bescii, such as the JWCB018, can be a parental strain to get more hydrogen and other biochemicals from various biomass.

Genetically modified (GM) Chinese cabbage containing the bar gene was compared to 24 non-GM Chinese cabbage varieties to evaluate unwanted changes in GM crops using HPLC-DAD-based metabolic fingerprinting to characterize polar metabolites containing flavonoids. No new compounds distinguishing GM crops from non-GM crops were observed using this technique. The GM crops had the similar flavonoid value as its nontransgenic counterpart (cv. Samjin). Moreover, the luteolin, quercetin, and kaempferol contents in GM Chinese cabbage were within the range of the 24 cultivars. The metabolome database included major 26 chemical species, which were analyzed with principal component analysis. The results clearly demonstrated that the time of sampling affects the metabolome. Moreover, the metabolic fingerprints showed a range of natural variability in the GM Chinese cabbage that was similar to that of the control at all times of sampling. Metabolic fingerprinting could potentially provide an innovative method for safety assessments of genetically modified organisms.
System MTF and SNR Analysis on the MSC Design
Kim, Young Soo,Jang, Hong Sul,Youn, Heong Sik,Paik, Hong Yul 대한원격탐사학회 2001 International Symposium on Remote Sensing Vol.17 No.1
MSC (Multi-Spectral Camera) is an electro-optical camera, the payload of the KOMPSAT-2 spacecraft to be launched in 2004. MSC is designed to take high-resolution images of the Earth by using panchromatic and multispectral detectors in the visual and near IR spectral ranges. To estimate the system performance of the MSC, MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) and SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) are assessed, which are widely used to define the performances of electro-optical imaging system. For the system MTF calculation, optics, detector, spacecraft, and orbital environment were considered. The optics MTF includes design, manufacturing, assembly, and environment effects. The detector MTF came from the measured value by the CCD manufacturer, and the spacecraft MTF is derived from fitter and smearing effects of the KOMPSAT-2. The movement effect and the synchronization effect on the orbit are also included, which are regarded as the orbital environment effect. To calculate system SNR, the signal from simulated Korean atmosphere, system MTF, optical transmittance, and electronic noise of the MSC were taken into account. The analysis results of the MTF and SNR are presented, and the results were discussed.
