We studied the bone forming capacity of the various bone substitute materials for the confirmation of bone regeneration with each case i.e Hydroxyapatite(SURGIBON), kiel obne, B.O.P. and bone dust. The bone dust was used for control. In 18 New Zealand white rabbits, four partial thickness bone defects were created on the outer table of parietal bone, which were measured 1.5mm in depth x 8mm in diameter. Bone substitute materials were filled in each bone defect. The animals were sacrified at 2, 4, 6, 8 weeks after taking a plain skull film, and then both macroscopic and microscopic examinations were done. The results were as follows : 1. Hydroxyapatite : good bone regeneration with moderately increased eosinophil. 2. KIEL BONE : no bone regeneration and markedly increased eosinophil. 3. B.O.P. : no evidence of bone growth during postoperative 8 weeks. 4. BONE DUST : persistent osteoblast existed during experimental period, more likely as own bone. We summarized that the hydroxyapatite is a biocompatible matrix implantable as a bone graft substitute and more bone regeneration than other bone substitutes during the experimental period.
Competition between SLP76 and LAT for PLCγ1 binding in resting T cells
Jung, Seung Hee,Jeong, Ji Hye,Seul, Hee Jung,Lee, Jong Ran WILEY‐VCH Verlag 2010 European journal of immunology Vol.40 No.8
<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The constitutive interaction between the P1 domain (a 67‐amino‐acid functional domain within the proline‐rich region) of SLP76 and the SH3 domain of phospholipase Cγ1 (PLCγ1) has been shown. To determine the significance of the interaction between SLP76 and PLCγ1 in resting T cells, we examined molecules associated with PLCγ1 in the absence of both SLP76 and, more specifically, the P1 domain of SLP76. Using a mutant Jurkat T‐cell line, we showed that PLCγ1 associated with LAT when the constitutive association with SLP76 was blocked. We also found that the PLCγ1 association with LAT occurred in the membranes of resting T cells. Further experiments demonstrated that LAT competed with SLP76 for PLCγ1 binding and that the LAT interaction with PLCγ1 was mediated by the SH3 domain of PLCγ1. Collectively, these results suggest that the constitutive association of SLP76 with PLCγ1 is required to prevent the association with LAT as well as the premature recruitment of PLCγ1 to the cell membrane.</P>

<P><B><I>Background:</I></B> Although 11C-methionine positron emission tomography (MET-PET) images can be fused with magnetic resonance (MR) images using planning software for gamma knife radiosurgery (GKR), the stereotactic information has limited value in patients with recurrent malignant brain tumor due to the difference in imaging protocols between MET-PET and MR images. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical application of MR imaging (MRI)-deformed MET-PET images in GKR using a deformable registration tool. <B><I>Methods:</I></B> We examined the enhanced MR stereotactic images, MET-PET and MRI-deformed MET-PET images without stereotactic information for 12 newly developed metastatic brain tumors. MET-PET and MRI-deformed MET-PET images were co-registered with the MR stereotactic images using radiosurgery planning software. Visual analysis was performed to determine whether the MET-PET and MR images matched better after using the deformable registration tool. In addition, the matching volume between MR and MET-PET images was compared before and after applying this tool. The matching volume was calculated as the metabolic tumor volume on the MET-PET images, including the MR-enhanced volume. The matching percentage was calculated as the matching volume divided by the MR-enhanced volume, multiplied by 100. <B><I>Results:</I></B> Visual analysis revealed that the MRI-deformed MET-PET images provided the same axial plane as that of the MR images, with the same window level, enabling easy identification of the tumor with the radiosurgery planning software. The mean matching percentage of the MET-PET/MR fusion images was 61.1% (range 24.7-94.7) and that of the MRI-deformed MET-PET/MR fusion images was 63.4% (range 20.8-94.3). No significant difference was found in the matching percentage between the two types of fusion images (<I>p</I> = 0.754). <B><I>Conclusions:</I></B> The MRI-deformed MET-PET images enable utilization of the functional information when planning a treatment in GKR without significant volume change.</P>

Background: PNF patterns are the basis of human motion and can be expected to improve joint motion and coordination. Combined physical training with CLX training and PNF patterns can help to improve balance and perform functional mobility in the lower limb. The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of CLX training combined with PNF pattern on balance ability. Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: Total 16 persons participate in this study and were randomly divided in two groups the experimental group and control group. In the experimental group, exercise program with PNF pattern and CLX was performed total 24 times for 8 weeks. In the exercise program, the PNF pattern composed of D1F and D2F was applied with CLX in five positions. Single limb hop test, Y-balance test and Balance Error scoring system were performed to evaluate the balance ability according to the interventions. Results: In the single limb hop, the experimental group revealed a significant difference than a control group (p<0.05).The result of balance error scoring system, experimental group revealed significant differences between before and after training and revealed significant differences than a control group (p<0.05). In the Y-balance test, the experimental group revealed significant differences than a control group in both side. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the CLX exercise in combination with the PNF pattern had a positive effect on enhancing the balance ability of the normal adult and performing the functional mobility of the lower limb.

We studied the role of a RhoA-specific guanine nucleo-tide exchange factor (p190RhoGEF) in dendritic cells (DCs), using transgenic (TG) mice that over-express a full gene of p190RhoGEF under the control of an invariant chain promoter. TG mice lacked localization of activated DCs to the T cell zone in the spleen and had reduced serum levels of IL-6 in response to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection. DCs from these mice also showed reduced surface expression of CD86, CD40, and CD205, but not MHCII, as well as a reduced capability to uptake antigen. Moreover, chemokine- driven migration and secretion of IL-6, but not of IL-12, were impaired after LPS-stimulation of TG DCs. Collectively, these results suggest that over-expressing p190RhoGEF nega-tively regulates conventional DC function in response to bacterial LPS infection.

A descending lifeline is the only self-escape fire apparatus for fire in high-rise buildings and is installed in most buildings according to fire-fighting law. However, it is difficult to properly use and quickly evacuate during an emergency due to its complex installation methods and procedures, even if users are pre-educated. In this paper, a new one-touch descending lifeline, which simplifies usage procedures and can be used regardless of whether users are educated, is proposed to solve the drawbacks of the conventional descending lifeline. All separate parts that require additional installation are initially assembled in a box, and the concept of a double square linkage is proposed to enable escape in a single motion of pushing the handle attached to the box. Three steps of kinematic design are explored to determine an appropriate configuration of double square linkage, and its dimensions are determined using Matlab and NX CAD software. The proposed all-in-one descending lifeline also follows the enforcement decree of the Fire Control Act, and its feasibility is verified through fabrication.
