In order to evaluate the status of cold exposure and its health hazards of workers at cold storage workplaces and to provide basic data for effective health care, the author measured core temperature and also observed clinical symptoms and signs, past and present history, and general health examination data on 99 cold exposed workers for exposure group and 96 non-exposed workers for control group working at 2 food refrigerating companies in Pusan area from January 6, 1998 to February 24, 1998. The results were as follows: 1. There was statistically significant difference in water intake between the exposure and control group and increased urine volume, urine frequency in exposure group without statistically significant difference. 2. Past and present illness in exposure group were hypertension (18.2%), hepatopathy (8.1%), gastro-intestinal disease(7.1%), arthritis (4.0%), intervertebral disc herniation(4.0%), and so on, and hypertension, arthritis was statistically significant difference compared to control group. 3. Symptoms in exposure group were fatigue(89.9%), headache (64.6%). drowsy(63.6%), neck stiffness(59.6%), excessive food intake(59.6%). general weakness(58.6%), hunger(58.6%), numbness(54.5%), and so on, and there was statistically significant difference between the exposure and control group except fatigue, drowsy. 4. As results of clinical test abnormality rate of the systolic, diastolic blood pressure and electrocardiogram were significantly higher in exposed group than control. 5. Core temperature in exposure group was statistically significantly lower than control group and the highest statistically significant inverse correlation with the working hours and working frequency of daily mean cold storage. As above results, the author suggested that the further studies should be conducted to evaluate the health status of workers about chronic health effects in cold workplaces and to establish effective health care methods for them.

Update on Transradial Access for Percutaneous Transcatheter Visceral Artery Embolization
Chu Hee Ho,Kim Jong Woo,Shin Ji Hoon,Cho Soo Buem 대한영상의학회 2021 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.22 No.1
Transfemoral access (TFA) is a widely used first-line approach for most peripheral vascular interventions. Since its introduction in cardiologic and neurointerventional procedures, several advantages of transradial access (TRA) over TFA have been demonstrated, such as patient preference, lower complication rates, early ambulation, and shorter hospital stay. However, studies reporting the safety and efficacy of this approach for peripheral vascular interventions performed by interventional radiologists are relatively few. This review aimed to summarize the technique and clinical applications of TRA in percutaneous transcatheter visceral artery embolization and the management of complications.

Heterosis describes the increased performance of F1 hybrid plants in terms of increased biomass, yield, vegetative growth rate, and tolerance against biotic and abiotic stresses as compared with their inbred parents. Two sets of rice materials, 166 RILs derived from a cross between Milyang 23 (Korean indica-type rice) and Tong 88-7 (japonica Rice), and BC1F1 hybrids derived from crosses between the RILs and the female parent, Milyang 23, were produced to identify QTLs for heterosis of yield and yield-related traits. The QTLs were detected from three different phenotype data sets including the RILs, BC1F1 hybrids, and mid-parental heterosis data set. A total of 57 QTLs were identified for nine traits. Of eight QTLs detected for yield heterosis, five overlapped with other heterosis QTLs for yield-related traits such as spikelet number per panicle, days to heading, and spikelet fertility. Four QTLs for yield heterosis, gy1.1, py6, gy10, and py11, were newly identified in this study. We identified a total of 17 EpQTLs for yield heterosis that explain 21.4 ~ 59.0 % of total phenotypic variation, indicating that epistatic interactions may play an important role in heterosis.

This study was conducted to characterize and to elucidate the inheritance mode of green-kerneled rices which were selected in rice germplasms collected in China. Three green-kerneled varieties (Hexi 41, Beijingluimi-1, and Jilinluimi-1), three regular whi
Photocurrent Switching of Monolayer MoS2 Using a Metal–Insulator Transition
Lee, Jin Hee,Gul, Hamza Zad,Kim, Hyun,Moon, Byoung Hee,Adhikari, Subash,Kim, Jung Ho,Choi, Homin,Lee, Young Hee,Lim, Seong Chu American Chemical Society 2017 NANO LETTERS Vol.17 No.2
<P>We achieve switching on/off the photocurrent of monolayer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) by controlling the metal-insulator transition (MIT). N-type semiconducting MoS2 under a large negative gate bias generates a photocurrent attributed to the increase of excess carriers in the conduction band by optical excitation. However, under a large positive gate bias, a phase shift from semiconducting to metallic MoS2 is caused, and the photocurrent by excess carriers in the conduction band induced by the laser disappears due to enhanced electron-electron scattering. Thus, no photocurrent is detected in metallic MoS2. Our results indicate that the photocurrent of MoS2 controlling the MIT transition by means of gate bias.</P>
A Case of Microscopic Polyangiitis showing Subdural Effusion and Dural Inflammation
Chu, Min Kyung,Min, Soo Ki,Yu, Kyung Ho,Ma, Hyeo Il,Kim, Yun Joong,Kim, Joo Yong,Yun, Sung Hee,Kim, Cheol Ho,Lee, Byung Cheol 대한신경과학회 2005 대한신경과학회지 Vol.23 No.6
Microcopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a systemic disorder affecting small vessels. In MPA, the central nervous system involvements have rarely been reported. We experienced a case of MPA with subdural effusion and pachymeningitis in a 50-year-old woman. The diagnosis of MPA was made by the presence of mononeuritis multiplex, hematuria, pachymeningitis, and p-ANCA seropositivity in this patient. Subdural effusion was of exudates and an active suppurative inflammation was observed on the dural biopsy.
