In this paper, when the initial propagation angle of a branched crack is calculated from the maximum tangential stress criterion (MTSC) and the minimum strain energy density criterion (MSEDC), it is essential that you use stress components in which higher order terms are considered and stress components at the position in a distance 0.005㎜ from the crack tip (=r). When an interfacial crack propagates along the interface at a constant velocity, the initial propagation angles of the branched crack are similar. to the mode mixities (phase angle) and the theoretical values obtained from MTSC and MSEDC. The initial propagation angle of the branched crack depends considerably on the stress intensity factor K$_2$.

It is very difficult to measure physical property ?? and stress fringe value ?? of the photo-orthotropic materials directly, therefore in this research, the device for the measurement of ?? and ?? in the photo-orthotropic materials has been developed, the device is called Hawong Iosipescu Shear Test and is abbreviated to H.I.S.T.. It is certified that H.I.S.T. is more effective than any other devices as pure shear force test is the shear strain and stress distribution and fringe pattern distributions. The stress distributions along the circular cavity in the finite orthotropic plate under pure shear force were studied by using both H.I.S.T. device and photoelastic experiment. It was found that H.I.S.T. device is most effective among H.I.S.T., A.C.D. and I.S.T. devices as pure shear force test, thereforce H.I.S.T. device can effectively be used on studying the stress concentration and fracture problems for the pure shear force.

In this research, the photoelastic experimental hybrid method with Hook-Jeeves numerical method has been developed: This method is more precise and stable than the photoelastic experimental hybrid method with Newton-Rapson numerical method with Gaussian elimination method. Using the photoelastic experimental hybrid method with Hook-Jeeves numerical method, we can separate stress components from isochromatics only and stress intensity factors and stress concentration factors can be determined. The photoelastic experimental hybrid method with Hook-Jeeves had better be used in the full field experiment than the photoelastic experimental hybrid method with Newton-Rapson with Gaussian elimination method.

Until now, photoelastic experimental hybrid method has been used the stress analysis of structure with internal or external circular hole or crack is called photoelastic experimental hybrid method for stress analysis of structure with the traction free surface. But the photoelastic experimental hybrid method for contact stress analysis of structure has not been developed. Therefore the photoelastic experimental hybrid method for contact stress analysis of structure is developed in this research, it’s validity is assured by photoelastic experiment..

Kinds of photoelastic experiment are introduced in this study . The application fields of photoelastic experiment, the hybrid method for photoelastic experiment, the non-destructive test from the combination of the reflective photoelastic experiment and strain gage and the weight-lightening processes of automobile etc. are explained in this research. I think that the photoelastic experiment is the best way to lighten the automobile weight.

Mechanical and physical properties in the dynamic state on any materials are different from them in static state. Thefore, in this paper, the calibrating device and method are simplified and developed. Mechanical Properties of materials obtained in this paper are shown on the Table 1.
