Adaptive Robust Control of 5 DOF Upper-limb Exoskeleton Robot

        Hao-Bo Kang,Jian-Hui Wang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2015 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.13 No.3

This paper deals with the problem of robust output feedback control for a class of 5DOF upper-limb exoskeleton robot. It is able to assist with shoulder, elbow and wrist joint movements. Robustness is assured for the proposed controller in the presence of model uncertainties. Ultimate boundedness is proved for the presented adaptive observer-based controller. The other advantage of the proposed method is that the implemented information for feedback is only the measurement of position. The estimation of velocity and acceleration is provided by an adaptive observer without additional sensors. By utilizing a novel adaptive logic-based switching control scheme, a trajectory tracking performance is well achieved with a tunable error bound. The simulation example also verifies the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Naringin in Chronic Pulmonary Neutrophilic Inflammation in Cigarette Smoke-Exposed Rats

        Yi-Chu Nie,Hao Wu,Pei-Bo Li,Yu-Long Luo,Kang Long,Li-Ming Xie,Jian-Gang Shen,Wei-Wei Su 한국식품영양과학회 2012 Journal of medicinal food Vol.15 No.10

Naringin, a well-known flavanone glycoside of grapefruit and citrus fruits, was found to be as an effective anti-inflammatory compound in our previous lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury mouse model via blockading activity of nuclear factor κB. The current study sought to explore the anti-inflammatory effects of naringin on chronic pulmonary neutrophilic inflammation in cigarette smoke (CS)-induced rats. Seventy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into seven groups to study the effects of CS with or without various concentrations of naringin or saline for 8 weeks. The results revealed that naringin supplementation at 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg significantly increased body weight of CS-induced rats as compared to that in the CS group. Moreover, naringin of 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg prevented CS-induced infiltration of neutrophils and activation of myeloperoxidase and matrix metalloproteinase-9, in parallel with suppression of the release of cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-8 (IL-8). IL-10 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was significantly suppressed after CS exposure, but dose dependently elevated by naringin. The results from hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that naringin dose dependently reduced CS-induced infiltration of inflammatory cells, thickening of the bronchial wall, and expansion of average alveolar airspace. In conclusion, our data suggest that naringin is an effective anti-inflammatory compound for attenuating chronic pulmonary neutrophilic inflammation in CS-induced rats.

Callus induction and high-efficiency plant regeneration via somatic embryogenesis in Papaver nudicaule L., an ornamental medicinal plant

        Yang, Jing Li,Zhao, Bo,Seong, Eun-Soo,Kim, Myong-Jo,Kang, Won-Hee,Kim, Na-Young,Yu, Chang-Yeon,Li, Cheng Hao The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2010 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.4 No.4

We describe culture conditions for a high-efficiency in vitro regeneration system of Papaver nudicaule through somatic embryogenesis and secondary somatic embryogenesis. The embryogenic callus induction rate was highest when petiole explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 1.0 mg $1^{-1}$ ${\alpha}$-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 0.1 mg $1^{-1}$ 6-benzyladenine (BA) (36.7%). When transferred to plant growth regulator (PGR)-free medium, 430 somatic embryos formed asynchronously from 90 mg of embryogenic callus in each 100-ml flask. Early-stage somatic embryos were transferred to MS medium containing 1.0 mg $1^{-1}$ BA and 1.0 mg $1^{-1}$ NAA to germinate at high frequency (97.6%). One-third-strength MS medium with 1.0% sucrose and 1.0 mg $1^{-1}$ $GA_3$ had the highest frequency of plantlet conversion from somatic embryos (91.2%). Over 90% of regenerated plantlets were successfully acclimated in the greenhouse. Secondary somatic embryos were frequently induced directly when the excised hypocotyls of the primary somatic embryos were cultured on MS medium without PGRs. Sucrose concentration significantly affected the induction of secondary embryos. The highest induction rate (89.5) and number of secondary somatic embryos per explant (9.3) were obtained by 1% sucrose. Most secondary embryos (87.2-94.3%) developed into the cotyledonary stage on induction medium. All cotyledonary secondary embryos were converted into plantlets both in liquid and on semisolid 1/3-strength MS medium with 1.0% sucrose.

Clinical effectiveness of decoction form of herbal medicine in primary care treatment of allergic rhinitis: A retrospective cohort study

        Son Mi Ju,Kim Sungha,Kim Young-Eun,Kim Bo-Young,Yeum Chang-Sub,Lee Jong Cheol,Cha Jae Hoon,Kang Soonsik,Chang Ching Hao,Son Seokho 한국한의학연구원 2023 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.12 No.3

Background: The decoction form of herbal medicine (D-HM) is mainly prescribed to patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) in Korean Medicine (KM) clinics in the Republic of Korea; however, it is difficult to conduct clinical trials of D-HM due to regulatory issues. This study investigated the clinical safety and effectiveness of D-HM combination therapy for the treatment of AR by analyzing the AR outpatient data from 17 KM clinics. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included patients who visited KM clinics for AR treatment from January 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022. Cases were collated using structured case report forms and divided into the D-HM with KM usual care group (D-HM group) and the KM usual care group (UC group). Since D-HM therapy could not be randomly assigned to the study population, we used optimal propensity score (PS) matching to investigate the effectiveness and safety of D-HM combination therapy in the treatment of AR. Results: Data from 228 patients were collected. After PS matching, 144 patients were finally analyzed. The total nasal symptom score (TNSS) and mini-rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire (mini-RQLQ) were significantly improved in the D-HM group compared with those in the UC group (TNSS: p=0.02; mini-RQLQ: p=0.04). Four patients in the D-HM group experienced minor adverse events that were mild and resolved within 15 days. Conclusions: D-HM combination therapy may be beneficial in the management of symptoms and rhinitis-associated quality of life and potentially useful in clinical practice. However, randomized placebo-controlled clinical trials are required to confirm their effectiveness.

Structural and Functional Neural Alterations in Internet Addiction: A Study Protocol for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Jun-Li Liu,Jing-Ting Sun,Hui-Lin Hu,Hao-Yuan Wang,Yun-Xi Kang,Tian-Qi Chen,Zhu-Hong Chen,Yu-Xuan Shang,Yu-Ting Li,Bo Hu,Rui Liu 대한신경정신의학회 2023 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.20 No.1

A growing number of neuroimaging studies have revealed abnormal brain structural and functional alterations in subjects with internet addiction (IA), however, with conflicting conclusions. We plan to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis on the studies of voxelbased morphometry (VBM) and resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC), to reach a consolidated conclusion and point out the future direction in this field. A comprehensive search of rsFC and VBM studies of IA will be conducted in the PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases to retrieve studies published from the inception dates to August 2021. If the extracted data are feasible, activation likelihood estimation and seed-based d mapping methods will be used to meta-analyze the brain structural and functional changes in IA patients. This study will hopefully reach a consolidated conclusion on the impact of IA on human brain or point out the future direction in this field.
