      • 光合成 活性에 대한 EDTA의 效果 : 大麥 葉組織의 老化過程中의 活性을 中心으로

        The effect of EDTA on the photosyntheic activity during the ageing in Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.cv. Baecdong) leaves was investigated by the changes of chlorophyll, protein and electron transport activity. The changes of chlorophyll, carotenoid and protein were remarkably decreased in dark conditon. But in light condition, the amount of them was moderately decreased. Addition of EDTA at concentration 3mM in light condition has bring about the reduction in total chlorophyll and carotenoid. But in dark condition with EDTA, the changes of them were moderatly decreased than the control(without EDTA). The contents of protein was not influenced by EDTA in the dark and light. Effect of EDTA in photosynthetic electron transprt activity was different in light and darkness. Especially PS Ⅱ of the photosynthetic electron transport activity was remarkably reduced in light with EDTA. In these results means that light was important for the production of chlorophyll, carotenoid and protein. EDTA treatment retarded the degradation of chlorophll in the dark but depressed the activity of PS Ⅱ and the total photosynthetic electron transport activity in light.

      • 2차원 및 3차원 초음파를 이용한 태아표면의 해부학적 선별 검사에 관한 연구

        Objective : Our purpose of this study was to determine the clarity and consuming time of fetal surface screening in thirty-eight fetuses from 24 to 32 weeks of gestation by use of two and three-dimensional ultrasonography. Methods : From May 1998 to July 1998, we performed the fetal surface screening of the fetal face, extremities, and spine. Thirty-eight fetuses of 24-32 weeks of gestation (thirty-seven normal fetuses and one abnormal fetus) were studied by use two-dimensional (AI 5200S, 3.5-5.0MHz; Acoustic Imaging Technologic Cooperation, U.S.A.) and three-dimensional ultrasonography (Volusion 530D, 3.5-5.0 MHz ; Kretz-Medicine, Korea). On the fetal face, we evaluated both orbits, nose, lips and brow. Both hands and feet, five digits and toes should be seen in this study. We evaluated cervical spine and lumbosacral junction of the spine. Results : The maternal average age of 38 patients was 29.9 years and the average gestational age was 29.7 weeks. The results of fetal surface screening were as follows : face (both orbits 89.5%, lips 92.1%, nose 92.1%, and brow 89.5%), extremities (both hands 68.4% and feet 73.7%), and spine (cervical spine 94.7% and lumbosacral junction 97.4%) by use of two-dimensional ultrasonography. By use of three-dimensional ultrasonography, results were as follows : face (both orbits 76.3%, lips 81.6%, nose 81.6%, and brow 78.9%), extremities (both hands 76.3% and feet 78.9%), and spine (cervical spine 71.1% and lumbosacral junction 73.7%). Consuming time for two-dimensional ultrasonography were 4.7 minutes for face, 11.6 minutes for extremities, and 5.7 minutes for spine. Using three-dimensional ultrasonography results were 12.8 minutes for face, 17.9 minutes for extremities, and 11.7 minutes for spine. Average consuming time of all fetal anatomic screening was 22.0 and 42.4 minutes by use of two and three dimensional ultrasonography. In one abnormal fetus had cleft lip and polydactyly of right foot which were detected all by three-dimensional ultrasonography, but we couldn't detect the polydactyly by two-dimensional ultrasonography. Conclusion : Three-dimensional ultrasonography was more time-consuming method, but we suggested that three-dimensional ultrasonography was superior than two-dimensional ultrasonography in fetal surface screening.

      • 洛東江 河口의 植生에 관한 硏究 : The Biomass of Foodplants for the Migration Birds 철새의 먹이植物을 中心으로

        The estimation of biomasses of such foodplants as Scirpus tirqueter, Zostera noltii, Potamogeton crispus and vallisneria asiatica was carried out at the estuary and related area of Nakdong River, since these plants have been known as foodplants for the birds. Among these plants, especially, the total biomass of Scirpus and Zostera were remarkably reduced from Oct. to Jan., and then the rate of the reduction decreased moderately from Jan. to Apr. The underground parts of Scirpus decrease to 7.6% during the winter in the muddy area. And the biomass reduction of Zostera was similar to that of Scirpus. These results suggest that such plants are important as feeding materials for the herbivorous and omnivorous birds and these plants are under the relatively heavy feeding pressure.

      • 洛東江 河口의 水禽類의 먹이植物에 관한 硏究 : 水生管束植物을 中心으로

        Aquatic macrophyte vegetation as foodplants for waterfowl in Jukrim and Maekdobranches, Yongwon inlet and Junam reservoir was investigated from April 1984 through April 1985. These areas interrelated to the total Nakdong wintering ground for waterfowl. Aquatic macrophyte flora in Jukrim branch included 14 species of 11 genera of 9 families, and 21 species of 16 genera of 11 families in junam reservoir. In Yongwon inlet Zosterra marina was only distributed. In these areas except Yongwon inlet, dominant species was Trapa japonica and the fruits, not the leaves and stems of it was very important as food source for swans and geese. The biomass of the aquatic weed vegetation in Jukrim branch increased quickly from April to July 1984 and continued to grow until October of the same year. However, it remarkably decreased from October to November as it was consumed by migrating and wintering waterfowl. Thus, the foodplant biomass dropped sharply in the midwinter. The biomass of early April in 1985 was 1.6g??, which was only 0.8% out of total biomass in October the previous year. All above results show that aquatic plants are under heavy feeding pressure in Nakdong estuary and related area.

        Seasonal changes in biomass of vascular hydrophytes in Jukrim branch, the dead west branch of Nakdong river, was estimated from July 1991 to May 1992, and was compared to that before the construction (1984-1986) of Nakdong barrage. 1. The area of vascular hydrophytes distribution, and their biomass, decreased in summer months, compared to those before construction of the barrage. 2. Percent composition of floating plants(Trapa spp.) and semifloating plants(Patamogetom spp.) increased significantly. while that of submerged plants (V. asiatica and Najas spp.) decreased. These results suggest that the water body of Jukrim branch in the process of eutrification, and indicates the need for proper treatment of industrial and farmaland wastewater before discharge into Jukrim branch.

        알루미늄 주방용기 제조공장에서 발생한 열사병 1례

        An 18-year-old man suffered heat stroke after continuous working for 26 hours on his first day in an aluminium utensil plant in August 1998. His job was to put a pressed aluminium utensil on the conveyer before the process of spray painting. The ranges of temperature and relative humidity measured at the local weather-station during the patient's working period were 23.6-30.2℃, 49-87% respectively. On arrival the patient was comatose and suffered generalized seizure three times. His rectal temperature was 41.2℃, blood pressure was 90/60 mmHg, pulse was 148 beats/minute and respiratory rate was 28 times/minute. The serum level of AST was 421 IU/L, ALT was 205 IU/L, LDH was 1.160 IU/L, myoglobin was higher than 500 ng/mL, CK was higher than 2,000 IU/L. He recovered consciousness 7th day of admission and discharged after 2 months but cerebellar dysarthria was remained. The patient felt himself several prodromal symptoms of heat stroke and he showed awkward behavior considered to be drowsiness, but the patient and his co-workers neglected them. This case report shows that heat stroke can be occurred tin a condition that ambient temperature, humidity, and working load are not extreme. A thorough health education and management concerned with guidelines on salt and water intake, detection of early symptoms of heat-related illness, prompt body cooling and rapid transportation to a hospital is necessary.

        Purpose : This preliminary study was done to identify sex related characteristics and sex knowledge of high school students. Methods : 622 high school students participated in the survey living in Gangreung city area. The data collection was done from May 1st to October 31st, 2000 using the self administered questionnaires. Results : The teachers and the peer students had a critical position in high school sex education. Reproductive physiology such as relations with the opposite sex, AIDS, STI, and contraceptions should be intensified in further sex education for high school students. There were sex differences in contraception and permission with sex relationship. And the false belief regarding sex assaults and knowledge deficit in AIDS were discovered. Conclusion : Sex education program development and application are necessary based on the educational needs and attitude evaluation for the sexual health improvement of high school students. In further study, developing the reliable measurement tool and various educational methodologies will be studied which are enough for the include the sex education concepts.

        광도 변화가 광중합형 컴포머와 컴포짓트 레진의 중합도 및 불소 유출에 주는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the fluoride releasing behavior of one self-curing glass-ionomer (Fuji II), one light-curing glass-ionomer (Fuji II LC), three compomers (PrismaFlow, UniFil F, and Dyract AP) and SIX composite resins (Flowline, Fissurit FX, Flow-It, Wave, Heliomolar Flow, and Glacier) as a function of light intensity. Disk type specimens were stored in deionized water at 37℃ for 1, 2, 4, 8 hrs and 1, 2, 7, 14, 21, 28 days. The deionized water was changed after measurements. The amount of fluoride ion, which was released from specimens, was measured by pH/ISE Meter (Istek Model 730P, Korea) with fluoride electrode. The results were statistically compared by Tukey multiple comparisons test (p=0.05). There were significant differences in degree of polymerization between specimens with 1 hr after irradiation and those with 24 hrs after irradiation (p<0.05). The cumulative amount of fluoride released was decreased with increasing light intensity (or degree of polymerization). The fluoride-releasing patterns of specimens were significantly different (p<0.05).
