Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) is South Korea’s first space exploration mission, developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. It aims to develop technologies for lunar exploration, explore lunar science, and test new technologies. KPLO was launched on August 5, 2022, by a Falcon-9 launch vehicle from cape canaveral space force station (CCSFS) in the United States and placed on a ballistic lunar transfer (BLT) trajectory. A total of four trajectory correction maneuvers were performed during the approximately 4.5-month trans-lunar cruise phase to reach the Moon. Starting with the first lunar orbit insertion (LOI) maneuver on December 16, the spacecraft performed a total of three maneuvers before arriving at the lunar mission orbit, at an altitude of 100 kilometers, on December 27, 2022. After entering lunar orbit, the commissioning phase validated the operation of the mission mode, in which the payload is oriented toward the center of the Moon. After completing about one month of commissioning, normal mission operations began, and each payload successfully performed its planned mission. All of the spacecraft operations that KPLO performs from launch to normal operations were designed through the system operations design process. This includes operations that are automatically initiated post-separation from the launch vehicle, as well as those in lunar transfer orbit and lunar mission orbit. Key operational procedures such as the spacecraft’s initial checkout, trajectory correction maneuvers, LOI, and commissioning were developed during the early operation preparation phase. These procedures were executed effectively during both the early and normal operation phases. The successful execution of these operations confirms the robust verification of the system operation.
폐타이어 담체를 이용한 유동상 생물막공정의 고도처리 효율에 관한 연구

Organic and nutrient removal was investigated in a full scale fluidized phase biofilm process of 800m-(3)/day using waste tire media for domestic wastewater treatment. Various internal reciculation ratio was set as an operation condition to enhance nitrogen removal efficiency. The process operation results are as follows. Significantly high removal efficiency above 94% could be obtained by the biofilm process in terms of organics(BOD&COD_(Mn)) and suspended solid(SS). Relatively low nitrogen removal of 53% was observed at the internal recycling 100% of influent flow rate. However the removal efficiency could be increased to 70% at 200% internal recycling. The process showed also considerably high T-P removal efficiency of 80% producing effluent concentration of 0.68mg/L for 3.38mg/L influent.
건설현장 근로자들의 안저예방실태와 사고예방과의 개선요인 조사연구

This study was conducted to examine aspects of health and safety education and demand level of safety education in construction job sites in order to provide direction of safety education development. The subjects of this study were 566 workers who were working in construction job sites located in Daegu City and Kyungbuk Province. Data were collected from June 1, 2002 to August 30, 2002. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. According to safety education by experience methods, the proportion of education by lecture was highest (90.6%). The proportion of education by field practice was 13.1%. 2. Among the education methods which they thought as the most desirable method, the proportion of audio-visual education was 39.4% and the proportion of education by experience was 37.5%. Those who had more monthly income and higher education level preferred audio-visual education, while those who were younger and less educated preferred education by experience. 3. In the case of the contents of the safety education which they thought as the most important one, the proportion of enhancement of safety awareness and education of risk factors was highest (24.7%). The groups of older workers, having longer working period, and belonging to higher education level preferred these contents. 4. According to the factors which were most important to increase effectiveness of the safety education were workers' voluntary participation (27.7%), 40 to 49 years old (27.7%), and monthly income of one million, five hundred thousand won to one million, nine hundred ninety thousand won (32.0%). The proportions of lower educated workers and working as daily workers were also high. 5. The variable which most influenced the safety education was age. The safety awareness of construction job sites was the second highest influential variable. From above results, it is clear that the workers' participation in the safety education was low since most of the safety educations were formal education by lecture. Although they participated in the education, the education was also not effective because they compulsorily participated in it. Therefore, it can be concluded that effective alternative policies must be formulated.

In this study, Rheoencephalography(REG) was designed and constructed. Using the constructed instrument cerebral blood flow(CBF) of left and right brain, CBF change by posture, and reproducibility were studied. Followings are important results. Relative CBF could be measured noninvasively and continuously. Since reproducibility of the constructed REG was found to be quite high (4 %), the accuracy of the instrument itself was proved. REG can be easily applied for testing the effect of drugs for the patients with cerebral vessel diseases since it is quite sensitive to the relative changes of CBF. Various cerebral diseases can be diagnosed by analyzing the REG waveforms. The area of restricted cerebral blood vessels can be located by arranging the electrode configuration. Comparative studies with the standard techniques of measuring CBF are needed to verify the accuracy of REG. Further studies on optimal electrode configuration and various artifacts are also necessary.
A CUSUM Algorithm for Early Detection of Structural Changes in Won/Dollar Exchange Market

This study deals with an early detection problem of structural change in won/dollar exchange market. A CUSUM algorithm is developed to monitor relevant economic variables indicating structural change in won/dollar exchange market. We applied the CUSUM algorithm to examine whether or not it was possible to alarm the 1997 economic crisis of Korea in advance.

Infectious aneurysms in hemodialysis patients are very rare. It is assumed that injuries on atherosclerotic vessel walls are involved in the development of aneurysms associated with septicemia. Rupture of infectious aneurysms carries a high mortality rate because it often leads to hemorrhagic shock. Here we report the case of a hemodialysis patient with rupture of an abdominal aortic infectious aneurysm secondary to Staphylococcus aureus septicemia. A 72 year-old male hemodialysis patient presented with diarrhea and fever. Staphylococcus aureus was identified in his blood culture. On the sixth day after admission, he developed sudden abdominal pain, distension and hypotension, so we assumed hypovolemic shock due to intraabdominal hemorrhage. On abdominal CT, he was found to have a ruptured, 2.4×2 cm infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm with a large amount of retroperitoneal hemorrhage. His final diagnosis was rupture of an infectious aneurysm based on the presence of Staphylococcal bacteremia. He underwent a percutaneous stent graft in the infrarenal aorta successfully. However, two weeks later, he developed septic shock due to a newly developed intestinal perforation and died of multiorgan failure.

N/A Temporal arteritis is an inflammatory disease of the elastic artery with unknown etiology. It usually affects patients over the age of 50, and is often associated with polymyalgia rheumatica. We have experienced a 66-year-old female patient with temporal arteritis who presented as a new onset headache and temporal artery abnormalities. Temporal artery biopsy was performed, which showed typical findings of temporal arteritis. To our knowledge, this is the first case of temporal arteritis in Korea. We hereby report a case of temporal arteritis with a brief review of literature.

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a heterogenous group of disorders characterized by obstruction of hepatic venous outflow. Severe liver cirrhosis and limited cardiac reserve in patients with BCS makes them less tolerant to liver transplantation. We experienced two cases of massive bleeding during living donor liver transplantation in patients with BCS. Blood products and fluids were rapidly infused with a rapid infusion system, final infusion volume in these two patients were 177 L and 193 L, and the use of Cell Savers allowed for the patient`s blood products to be saved. The patients were managed successfully and recovered uneventfully with advanced monitoring, including monitoring of their jugular venous oxygen saturation and continuous cardiac output. Therefore, rapid infusion systems and Cell Savers, along with advanced monitoring, are necessary in the event of massive bleeding during liver transplantation. <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We report the highly sensitive and selective downsized gas sensors for the IoT application. Sensing areas of Pt-interdigitated electrodes (IDEs) were varied to investigate the relation between sensing materials and electrodes. In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> nanocolumns were deposited on the pre-patterned Pt IDEs using glancing angle deposition (GLAD). The effect of the interface resistance between electrodes and sensing materials, and the intergrain resistance between nanocolumns is analyzed by linear regression at different sensing area and incident angle of GLAD. In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> (angle: 85°, sensing area: 0.3mm×0.3mm) nanocolumns with double Schottky barriers show the highest response and selectivity with fast response time of 10s to VOCs among the samples fabricated in this study. The analysis reveals that the intrinsic response of In<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> (angle: 85°, sensing area: 0.3mm×0.3mm) nanocolumns are dominantly affected by intergrain resistance, resulting in a high response. Our demonstration for the fundamental aspect of downsizing gas sensor makes an important contribution to the chemical sensor field with broad interest.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> The sensing areas are varied to investigate the relation between sensing materials and electrodes. </LI> <LI> The effect of the interface resistance and the intergrain resistance are analyzed by linear regression. </LI> <LI> The performance of the downsizing gas sensor is greatly influenced by the interface resistance. </LI> </UL> </P>
