Numerical Simulation of Solution Droplets and Falling Films in Horizontal Tube Absorbers

This paper presents a numerical simulation of the behavior of the LiBr solution droplets and falling films in horizontal tube banks of absorber. The model developed here accounts for the details of the droplets formation and impact process for absorption on horizontal tubes including the heat transfer from solution film to the tube wall. Especially, the characteristic of unsteady behavior of solution flow has been investigated. Flow visualization studies shown that the solution droplets and falling films have some of the complex characteristics. It is found that, with the numerical conditions similar to the operating condition of an actual absorption chiller/heater, the outlet solution temperature and heat flux from solution film to the tube wall have a stable periodic behavior with time. The solution droplets and falling films in horizontal tube banks of absorber is a periodic unsteady flow.
Improvement of Power Cutting Module for Advanced Small Chinse Cabbage Harvest Machine

Development of automatic chinese cabbage harvester is required to mechanization of dry-field farming. However, current commercial chinese cabbage harvester is large machines which are mainly improved from combine or attached to tractor, that is, conventional chinese cabbage harvester is not suitable for the Korean farming environments. To solve this problem, our group has developed small-sized chinese cabbage harvester. In previous studies, however, due to the difference between the transfer belt and the running speed causing slip of the power belt, the pulled chinese cabbage could not be transported in an appropriate position, resulting in the unstable cutting of chinese cabbages. Therefore, in this study, we focused on the improvement of transportation belts and cutters in the cutting module to solve this problem. To reduce the power losses, an AC motor was installed in the cutting module to directly operate the transport belt and cutting blade, and a generator is additionally mounted on the vehicles for power supplying of AC motor drive and a control distribution panel is installed for speed control. Cutting blades with two left and right blades running at the center of the transportation route were installed to improve the chinese cabbage sticking to the shaft. In field experiments, the success rate of chinese cabbage cutting into the right position was 93%, but the rate in which chinese cabbages were inserted into the cutting machine well was only 53% during the cutting process. The improvement of drawing and the replacement of transfer belt causing more friction are expected in the further study. The improvement of cutting module will facilitate the commercialization of Chinese cabbage harvester, contributing the mechanization of dry-field farming.

Background: 5α-reductase inhibitors are commonly prescribed for treatment of male androgenic alopecia (AGA). Objectives: To evaluate the long-term effectiveness and occurrence of adverse events (AEs) in AGA patients receiving dutasteride or finasteride. Methods: A retrospective medical chart review study was conducted across 5 hospital-based dermatology clinics in South Korea between Jan 2010 and Dec 2018. Males aged ≥ 18 years at initiation of dutasteride or finasteride for the treatment of AGA (index date) with ≥ 3 years of available follow-up information were included. Results: 295 (49%) and 305 (51%) AGA patients were prescribed dutasteride and finasteride respectively. Dutasteride patients were older and had higher severity at index than finasteride patients. During follow-up, improvement in hair growth was more frequently observed in dutasteride patients, as measured by improvements in BASP for the basic M and specific V types (adjusted IRR = 1.84 [p=0.031] and 1.95 [p=0.019], respectively). Proportions of AEs were equivalent (equivalence margin ±5%) or sometimes lower among dutasteride patients, including AEs of special interest (e.g., decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and ejaculation disorder, proportion difference = 0.7%). Conclusion: Over an observation period of 3 years, dutasteride demonstrated greater effectiveness than finasteride among men with the most common type of AGA (M type) across severity levels. Similar AE frequencies were observed across both drugs.

Cryogenic Liquid hydrogen evaporates at room temperature. Insulation performance is important to increase the efficiency of storing liquid hydrogen. One of the factors affecting the storage vessel performance is Vapor cooled shied(VCS). In this study, We study the role of Copper conductive shield(CCS) to replace VCS. It is calculated by numerical method with commercial CFD code Star-ccm+. The heat of penetration into the inner vessel is calculated by changing the position of the copper inside the Multi-layer insulation(MLI) of the liquid hydrogen storage. It is found that there is an optimum location of copper to minimize the penetration heat. CCS transfers heat to the neck of the tank.

Epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) have been widely used for non-small-cell lung cancer patients. Its untoward cutaneous effects are largely well known and developed in many patients treated with EGFR TKIs. However trichomegaly of eyelash is rarely reported. Although trichomegaly is not a drug-limiting side effect, it could be troublesome of continuing the treatment because of cosmetic issue or eyeball irritation by long eyelashes. Therefore clinicians are needed to pay attention to this uncommon effect. We herein describe erlotinib induced trichomegaly of eyelashes in a woman with adenocarcinoma of the lung.

본 연구는 전라남도가 2016년도에 선정된 전남지역「가고 싶은 섬」에 대한 섬 공기질의 건강치유물질인 테르펜 분포량과 음이온을 파악하기 위해서 실시하였다. 조사대상은 가고 싶은 섬의 침엽수림과 상록활엽수림에서 이루어졌으며 2016년 5월 ~ 9월 중 수행하였다. 테르펜 분포량 조사결과 침엽수림인 진도 관매도가 1,200 pptv로 가장 높게 나타났다. 수종별 테르펜류의 분포량은 침엽수림에서는 고흥 연홍도(1,181 pptv), 여수 낭도(1,150 pptv), 신안 반월도(1,029 pptv)순으로 타났으며, 상록활엽수림에서는 완도 소안도(851 pptv), 강진 가우도(748 pptv), 신안 박지도(627 pptv)순으로 나타났다. 테르펜류 성분별로는 침엽수림에서는 주로 α-pinene과 β-pinene이 검출되었으며, 상록활엽수림에서는 α-pinene과 δ-limonene, sabinene이 많이 검출되었다. 음 이온은 강진 가우도에서 최대값인 1,350 ea/cc으로 나타났으며, 전체 조사지점의 농도는 346 ea/cc∼ 828 ea/cc 범위로 측정되어 2015년에 조사된 도시공원(순천 장대공원)의 음이온 평균값 88 ea/cc에 비해 매우 높은 농도로 조사되었다. 건강에 유해한 물질인 총부유세균과 PM-10은 자연수준 상태로 조사되었다. 조사결과 전라남도「가고 싶은 섬」의 대기환경은 매우 안전하고 건강치유물질이 풍부한 환경으로 평가되었다. This study was conducted to provide basic data not only on the health healing material but also on the amount of terpene distribution to 「Islands that people hope to visit」 in Jeollanam-do. The investigations were conducted at coniferous forest and evergreen broadleaved forest which is stand of 「Islands that people hope to visit」 in Jeollanam-do visited frequently from May to September 2016. As a result, the amount of terpene distribution was 1,200 pptv(mean value) in the coniferous forests of Gwanmaedo, the forests of Yeonhongdo (1,181 pptv), Nangdo(1,150 pptv), Banwoldo(1,029 pptv), Soando(851 pptv), Gaudo(748 pptv), Bakjido(627 pptv). A large amount of α-pinene and β-pinene was mainly detected in the coniferous forests, while the amount of α-pinene and δ-limonene and sabinene took up a large share in the evergreen broad-leaved forest on 「Islands that people hope to visit」. The maximum value of anions was measured as 1,350 ea/cc in Gaudo. The mean value at all research sites was ranged from 346 ea/cc to 828 ea/cc. These were much higher than the average anion value of 88 ea/cc in the city park(Jang-Dae Park). Total airborne bacteria counts and PM-10 content being classed as a hamful influence material on the health were natural state level. As the result of investigation, the ambient air characteristics of「Islands that people hope to visit」in Jeollanam-do was estimated to very safe and pleasant environment.
