Gamma radiation shielding properties of WO3/Bi2O3/waterborne polyurethane composites
Wu Zhengxin,Li Yong,Yan Qiang,Liu Guoqing,Liu Yong,Wang Guowei,He Liang 한국물리학회 2022 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.81 No.3
In this study, the gamma-ray shielding performance and the mechanical properties of waterborne polyurethane (WPU) composites embedded with tungsten trioxide (WO3) and bismuth trioxide (Bi2O3) were investigated. The results indicated that the shielding properties of the composites against gamma rays increased with WO3/Bi2O3 loading and that nanocomposites were better able to attenuate gamma rays than microcomposites. The mass ratio of WO3 and Bi2O3 in the composite played an important role in attenuating low-energy gamma rays. With the increment of Bi2O3 loading, the composite’s ability to attenuate 59.5 keV and 121.8 keV gamma rays improved, whereas higher WO3 contents enhanced the ability to attenuate 81 keV gamma ray. In terms of mechanical properties, with WO3/Bi2O3 loading increased, the tensile strength of composites frst increased and then decreased, and the elongation at break steadily decreased. Gamma irradiation also improved the mechanical properties of the WPU composites, as indicated by the increase in tensile strength as the irradiation dose increased from 50 to 200 kGy.

The present research work primarily investigated whether spinosin has the potential of improving the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) driven by β-amyloid (Aβ) overproduction through impacting the procession of amyloid precursor protein (APP). Wild type mouse Neuro-2a cells (N2a/WT) and N2a stably expressing human APP695 (N2a/APP695) cells were treated with spinosin for 24 h. The levels of APP protein and secreted enzymes closely related to APP procession were examined by western blot analysis. Oxidative stress related proteins, such as nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) were detected by immunofluorescence assay and western blot analysis, respectively. The intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level was analyzed by flow cytometry, the levels of Aβ1-42 were determined by ELISA kit, and Thioflavin T (ThT) assay was used to detect the effect of spinosin on Aβ1-42 aggregation. The results showed that ROS induced the expression of ADAM10 and reduced the expression of BACE1, while spinosin inhibited ROS production by activating Nrf2 and up-regulating the expression of HO-1. Additionally, spinosin reduced Aβ1-42 production by impacting the procession of APP. In addition, spinosin inhibited the aggregation of Aβ1-42. In conclusion, spinosin reduced Aβ1-42 production by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway in N2a/WT and N2a/ APP695 cells. Therefore, spinosin is expected to be a promising treatment of AD.

As a modified configuration of the conventional anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic (AAO) process, a novel anoxic/anaerobic/aerobic (Reversed AAO, RAAO) process has been extensively applied in domestic wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). In this study, the Activated Sludge Model No. 2d (ASM2d) and a secondary clarifier model were calibrated and applied to simulate a pilot-scale RAAO test and evaluate the operational performance of the RAAO process. For calibration of the biological model ASM2d, only four kinetic parameters were adjusted to accurately simulate in-process variations of ammonium, nitrate and phosphate. Simulation results by the calibrated model demonstrated that phosphorus accumulating organisms (PAO) in the RAAO process (0.243 gP·(gCOD)^−1) contains less poly-phosphate than the AAO process (0.266 gP·(gCOD)^−1). With the increasing mixed liquor recirculation ratio in the RAAO process, the fraction of heterotrophic biomass and autotrophic biomass both increased, whereas the PAO decreased owing to adverse effects of electron acceptors on phosphorus release and poly-hydroxy-alkanoates synthesis.
A New Phenolic Glycoside from Mussaenda pubescens
Zhao, Weimin,Xu, Rensheng,Qin, Guowei,Wu, Houming,Jiang, Shaokai,Yang, Genjin The Korean Society of Pharmacognosy 1996 Natural Product Sciences Vol.2 No.1
A new phenolic glycoside named mussaendoside L (1), along with four known iridoidal glycosides $(2{\sim}5)$ were isolated from the aerial parts of Mussaenda pubescens Ait.f. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.
Measurement and Analysis of Burst Topic in Microblog
Guozhong Dong,Xin Zou,Wei Wang,Yaxue Hu,Guowei Shen,Korawit Orkphol,Wu Yang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.8 No.2
Microblog provides the first communication platform for burst event due to the immediacy and interactivity of microblog. In this paper, we research on user-oriented and message-oriented measurements of burst topic in Sina microblog. The measurements and analysis on large-scale Sina microblog data set show that our proposed measurement method can measure the characteristics of user and message propagation in burst topic. The measurement results in this paper can describe the formation and diffusion mechanism of burst topic which will contribute to better research of relevant issues on burst topic and ensure the well-developed of microblog.

Rapid recommendation is a novel methodological framework for developing clinical practice guidelines and this framework shares the basic features of classical guidelines but differs from classical clinical practice guidelines in its ‘rapid’ development process (typically within 90 days) with an aim of translat-ing practice-changing studies to recommendations. A recent global innovation of guideline development methodology is the proposal of a rapid recommendation framework for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which has the potential to add value to the translation of evidence to practice for TCM inter- ventions. Up to now, more than 180 rapid recommendations have been published, but none of them is pertaining to TCM interventions. Due to the nature of multi-dimensional evidence sources for TCM inter- ventions, including classical randomized controlled trials and real world evidence, a more sophisticated methodological approach to synthesize and evaluate the totality of evidence about effects of TCM in- terventions is required. Therefore, appropriate modification to the rapid recommendation framework is necessary. In the efforts to respond to these needs, we have proposed a specific approach to developing rapid recommendations for TCM interventions the Multi-dimensional Evidence Synthesis, Evaluation and Recommendations for TCM interventions (MESERT)
