Design method for self-healing capability of resin mineral composites with microcapsule based on cohesive element

Hua Huang,Huiyang Huang,Runlan Guo,Qianzhi Pang 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.11

The self-healing of resin mineral composites by adding microcapsules has been widely used. However, it is difficult to determine the proportion of microcapsule to obtain the optimal self-healing performance because of the contradictory characteristics between the selfhealing efficiency and elastic modulus of composites. To address this problem, this study proposes a novel method to optimize the proportion of microcapsule under the constraints of engineering design requirements. The results show that (1) the damage evolution of self-healing resin mineral composites with microcapsule can be divided into four processes: damage accumulation, bond interface crack appearing, matrix crack appearing and fracture surface formation. (2) The position of aggregate has little effect on the mechanical properties of the overall composites structure, but it plays a decisive role in the distribution and size of cracks. (3) The relationship between the self-healing efficiency and the proportion of microcapsule is a nonlinear positive correlation, but the elastic modulus is a nonlinear negative correlation with the proportion of microcapsule. (4) The optimization results show that the optimal microcapsule proportion of a resin mineral composite machine tool is 1.68 %; at this time the mechanical properties of the material are reduced by 2.9 % and the self-healing efficiency is 25.38 %. The results provide a reference for the damage performance research and engineering design of microcapsule self-healing composites.

Optimal magnetoelectric coupling performance of Terfenol-D/PZT composites in resonance state under bias magnetic field

        Huang Bin,Zhu Weihao,Hua Licheng,Wang Ji,Guo Yan 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.41 No.-

Laminated magnetoelectric (ME) composites with various thickness ratios were optimized, fabricated and experimentally investigated in this work. The Terfenal-D/PZT specimens with optimal thickness ratio between the magnetostrictive phase and piezoelectric phase, and two other values were tested for their ME coupling performance. The coupling voltage output increases linearly with the increase of DC bias magnetic field. The ME voltage coefficient increases more than 100 times in the resonance state for the optimal laminate. The DC bias magnetic field affects the ME voltage coefficient significantly, and also has little effect on the resonant frequency. The strength of AC magnetic field also slightly affects the ME voltage coefficient in resonance state, but does not affect the resonant state under which the same DC magnetic field is required. The experimental results can help understand the coupling performance of ME composite under bias magnetic field and prompt the application of ME devices.

The Synthesis and Preliminary Activity Assay In Vitro of Peptide-like Derivatives as APN Inhibitors

        Shao-hua Li,Hui-ming Huang,Fang Xiong,Guo-gang Tu,Gang Li 대한약학회 2008 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.31 No.10

Both the aminopeptidase N (APN) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) are essential metallopeptidases in the development of tumor invasion and angiogenesis. A series of novel peptide-like derivatives were designed and synthesized as antitumor agents. Their structures were confirmed by IR, MS, and 1H-NMR. These compounds exhibited potent inhibitory activities against APN and low activity against MMP in vitro. The derivatives with methoxy group show better activities than those with other substituted group and could be used as lead compounds for exploring new APN inhibitors in the future.

Multiparty Quantum Secret Sharing of Quantum States Using Entanglement States

        Ying, Guo,Da-Zu, Huang,Gui-Hua, Zeng,Ho, Lee Moon Science Press 2008 CHINESE PHYSICS LETTERS Vol.25 No.1

A multi-partite-controlled quantum secret sharing scheme using several non-orthogonal entanglement states is presented with unconditional security. In this scheme, the participants share the secret quantum state by exchanging the secret polarization angles of the disordered travel particles. The security of the secret quantum state is also guaranteed by the non-orthogonal multi-partite-controlled entanglement states, the participants' secret polarizations, and the disorder of the travelling particles. Moreover, the present scheme is secure against the particle-number splitting attack and the intercept-and-resend attack. It may be still secure even if the distributed quantum state is embedded in a not-so-weak coherent-state pulse.

Case of Pulmonary Cryptococcosis Mimicking Hematogeneous Metastases in an Immuocompetent Patient: Value of Absent 18F-Fluorodeoxylucose Uptake on Positron Emission Tomography/CT Scan

        Chiao-Hua Lee,Ching Tzao,Tsun-Hou Chang,Wei-Chou Chang,Guo-Shu Huang,Chih-Kung Lin,Hsin-Chung Lin,Hsian-He Hsu 대한영상의학회 2013 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.14 No.3

The radiologic appearance of multiple discrete pulmonary nodules in immunocompetent patients, with cryptococcal infection, has been rarely described. We describe a case of pulmonary cryptococcosis, presenting with bilaterally and randomly distributed nodules on a computed tomography, mimicking hematogeneous metastases. Positron emission tomography does not demonstrate 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake, suggesting a low probability for malignancy, which is a crucial piece of information for clinicians when making a management decision. We find the absence of FDG uptake correlates with the pathologic finding of an infectious nodule, composed of fibrosis and necrosis.

Extended State Observer Based on ADRC of Linear System with Incipient Fault

        Xingxing Hua,Da-Rong Huang,Shenghui Guo 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.6

Owing to the fact that it is difficult to find the incipient fault and it is hard to deal with the disturbance, an extended state observer (ESO), which is based on the linear time invariant system is designed and analyzed. This method can effectively separate incipient fault as a new state variable from the disturbance. By using coordinate transformations, the original system is decoupled into two subsystems. Especially, an adaptive observer of faulty system is designed for the one subsystem with the incipient fault but not relevant to the disturbance, and an extended state observer (ESO) based on active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is designed for the other one which not only has the disturbance but also the incipient fault. Two simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the presented methods.

Fracture behavior of cylindrical sandstone specimens with two pre-existing flaws: experimental investigation and PFC3D simulation

        Yan-Hua Huang,Sheng-Qi Yang,Guo-Qing Chen,Bo Meng 한국지질과학협의회 2022 Geosciences Journal Vol.26 No.1

It is important to analyze the rock crack initiation, propagation and coalescence in fractured rock mass. At present, the 3D crack evolution process of pre-flawed rock has not been comprehensively studied during the deformation. In this study, uniaxial compression tests were carried out on cylindrical sandstone specimens with two pre-existing flaws with various ligament inclination angles. The crack evolution process at the front surface of the specimen was analyzed by photographic and AE monitoring. In addition, a 3D discrete element modelling was conducted to explore the spatial crack evolution behaviors during compressive loading. Both the numerical strength and final failure modes of specimens were consistent with those obtained in the laboratory experiment. The numerical simulation results revealed that the internal crack distribution was not always identical along the thickness direction. Two types of crack coalescence were identified. The experimental and numerical results enhance the understanding of 3D crack evolution mechanism of fractured rock under external loading.

circLETM1 upregulates KRT80 via adsorbing miR-143-3p and promotes the progression of colorectal cancer

        Li Hua,Guo Junyu,Qin Zhongwei,Wei Mingwei,Guo Houji,Huang Fuda 대한독성 유전단백체 학회 2023 Molecular & cellular toxicology Vol.19 No.3

Background Emerging evidence has indicated that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play vital roles in colorectal cancer (CRC). CircRNA leucine zipper and EF-hand containing transmembrane protein 1 (circLETM1) have been found to be ectopic in CRC, but their role in CRC has not been studied yet. Objective This study aims to explore the roles of circLETM1 in CRC and the possible molecular mechanism. Result The results showed that circLETM1 was highly expressed in CRC cells, and was localized at the cytoplasm. Functional assays verifi ed that overexpression of circLETM1 could facilitate, but circLETM1 downregulation could hamper proliferation, migration and invasion abilities of CRC cells. In addition, mechanism assays found that circLETM1 absorbed and reduced microRNA (miR)-143-3p expression to promote keratin 80 (KRT80). Rescue experiments proved that circLETM1 mediated CRC proliferation, migration and invasion through KRT80. Conclusion Taken together, our results suggested that circLETM1 promotes proliferation, migration and invasion through the miR-143-3p/KRT80 axis in CRC. Therefore, targeting circLETM1 may provide a novel option for CRC treatment.

      • Identification of Specific Gene Modules in Mouse Lung Tissue Exposed to Cigarette Smoke

        Xing, Yong-Hua,Zhang, Jun-Ling,Lu, Lu,Li, De-Guan,Wang, Yue-Ying,Huang, Song,Li, Cheng-Cheng,Zhang, Zhu-Bo,Li, Jian-Guo,Xu, Guo-Shun,Meng, Ai-Min Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.10

Background: Exposure to cigarette may affect human health and increase risk of a wide range of diseases including pulmonary diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung fibrosis and lung cancer. However, the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis induced by cigarettes still remain obscure even with extensive studies. With systemic view, we attempted to identify the specific gene modules that might relate to injury caused by cigarette smoke and identify hub genes for potential therapeutic targets or biomarkers from specific gene modules. Materials and Methods: The dataset GSE18344 was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and divided into mouse cigarette smoke exposure and control groups. Subsequently, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to construct a gene co-expression network for each group and detected specific gene modules of cigarette smoke exposure by comparison. Results: A total of ten specific gene modules were identified only in the cigarette smoke exposure group but not in the control group. Seven hub genes were identified as well, including Fip1l1, Anp32a, Acsl4, Evl, Sdc1, Arap3 and Cd52. Conclusions: Specific gene modules may provide better understanding of molecular mechanisms, and hub genes are potential candidates of therapeutic targets that may possible improve development of novel treatment approaches.

      • The High Expressed Serum Soluble Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, a High Risk Factor Indicating Hepatic Encephalopathy in Hepatocelular Carcinoma Patients

        Liu, Tian-Hua,Guo, Kun,Liu, Ri-Qiang,Zhang, Shu,Huang, Zhuo-Hui,Liu, Yin-Kun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8

Objective: To investigate whether the expression of serum soluble neural cell adhesion molecule (sNCAM) is associated with hepatic encephalopathy (HE) in hepatocelular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Materials and Methods: The Oncomine Cancer Microarray database was used to determine the clinical relevance of NCAM expression in different kinds of human cancers. Sera from 75 HCC cases enrolled in this study were assessed for expression of sNCAM by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Dependent on the Oncomine Cancer Microarray database analysis, NCAM was down regulated in 10 different kinds of cancer, like bladder cancer, brain and central nervous system cancer, while up-regulated in lung cancer, uterine corpus leiomyoma and sarcoma, compared to normal groups. Puzzlingly, NCAM expression demonstrated no significant difference between normal and HCC groups. However, we found by quantitative ELISA that the level of sNCAM in sera from HCC patients with HE ($347.4{\pm}151.9ng/ml$) was significantly more up-regulated than that in HCC patients without HE ($260.3{\pm}104.2ng/ml$), the p-value being 0.008. sNCAM may be an important risk factor of HE in HCC patients, the correlation coefficients was 0.278 (P<0.05) on rank correlation analysis. Conclusions: This study highlights that up-regulated level of serum sNCAM is associated with HE in HCC patients and suggests that the high expression can be used as an indicator.
