The purpose of this paper is to improve certain results proved in a recent paper of Soliman et al. [20]. These results are the outcome of utilizing the idea of absorbing pairs due to Gopal et al. [6] as opposed to two conditions namely: weak compatibility and the peculiar condition initiated by Pant [15] to ascertain the common fixed points of Lipschitzian mappings. Some illustrative examples are also furnished to highlight the realized improvements.
Estimation of Freight Demand at Mumbai Port using Regression and Time Series Models
Gopal R. Patil,Prasanta K. Sahu 대한토목학회 2016 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.20 No.5
Forecasting future freight demand at a seaport is important for its planning and development. India has 13 major ports which handle 75% of the total seaport freight. Among the 13 major ports, Mumbai Port, ranked at number three in the country for the year 2013-14, handles about 11% of the total freight at major seaports in India. The focus of this paper is on developing inbound and outbound demand forecasting models for Mumbai Port. The models are developed using additive regression and time series techniques. In regression analysis economic indicators, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Crude Oil Production (CRLP) are found to be significant. The multivariate models performed better than the univariate models. The validation of time-series models resulted in error of less than 5%. Both multivariate regression and time-series models are used to forecast freight demand for the years 2014- 15 through 2017-18. The regression models are producing more optimistic forecasts than the time series models. The elasticity analysis suggested that Mumbai’s inbound freight will be growing almost with India’s GDP growth rate, the outbound freight, however, will experience slower growth than that of inbound.

Ag3PO4/PAN composite nanofibers have been fabricated by simple and low cost electrospinningtechnique followed by surface modification of PAN nanofibers with amidoxime ( C(CN2)¼NOH) groupsto utilize as anchoring sites for Ag+ ions through coordinate bonding. Subsequently, the coordinated Ag+ions were allowed to react with PO43 ions in order to form Ag3PO4/PAN composite nanofibers. Thusobtained composites were characterized by FESEM, XRD, TEM, FTIR, XPS and UV–vis. Experimentalresults revealed that composite nanofibers prepared by reacting ( C(CN2)¼NOH) functionalized PANnanofibers with 0.02 M solutions of AgNO3 and Na2HPO4 have higher efficiency towards thephotodegradation and bactericidal activities under visible light.

In this study volatile fatty acids (VFAs), whichare by-products from anaerobic fermentations, have beenused as the carbon source for polyhydroxyalkanoates(PHA) production by pure culture bacteria, Cupriavidusnecator. A number of factors influence the conversionefficiencies of VFAs to PHAs including the bacterialfeeding regimes. When VFA was supplied as a single feed,it was found that concentrations higher than 2% v/v VFAled to substrate inhibition and only 18% acetic acid and12% of butyric acid was converted into PHA. This resultedin less than 65% (w/w) of PHA content within themicrobial cells. Hence, the single VFA feeding strategywas found to provide low conversion rates of VFA intopolymer. An improved feeding strategy was found to bethe use of an automatic VFA feed based on the pH controlof the medium, which led to a more continuous feedingregime. The conversion of VFA to PHA was increased byalmost 2-fold to 33 and 22% for acetic acid and butyricacid respectively, with up to 75% (w/w) of PHA resultantwithin the microbial cells.

We investigate the parameters of accelerated electron bunch in laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA), when a skewed laser pulse propagates through a plasma in the presence of a transverse magnetic field. Two dimensional particle-in-cell (2D-PIC) simulations have been performed under the consideration of pulse skewness parameter (sα = τl/τt) that is defined as the ratio of leading (τl) to trailing pulse edge (τt) duration. The injected charge is estimated as 23 pC for the laser strength parameter a0 = 2 when sα changes from 1 to 0.45 at a laser propagation distance of 1.5 mm with 50T magnetic field. The electron beam emittance reduces about 50% when leading edge of the pulse becomes two-fold sharper (sα = 0.45) with 50T magnetic field. Energy spread of accelerated electron bunch is also reduced from 18 to 6.6%. Hence, in the presence of a transverse magnetic field, the laser pulse skewness can significantly improve the quality of the accelerated electron bunch (i.e. charge, mean energy and emittance) in laser wakefield acceleration.

This paper presents a method to model a backto-back converter and the additional passive filter system. The mathematical modeling method followed the step of converting the three-phase system to single phase systems by separating the differential mode (DM) and common mode (CM) noise circuit for the design of the filter components separately. The model accounts for parasitic components in the converters and presents an indirect method of estimating parasitic capacitance for CM filter design. Design rules for the different components are summarized. Results from a lab prototype are presented and show good correspondence to the model.

This paper presents fabrication of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) electrospun nanofibers (NFs) reinforced withAg2CO3 nanoparticles (NPs) as highly efficient visible light photocatalyst. Preparation of the introduced NFs wasaccomplished by using simple, effective, high yield, and low cost process; electrospinning of Ag2CO3/PAN colloidal solutionat different applied electric voltages. Photocatalytic efficiency of the introduced nanofiber mats was investigatedby photodegradation of three dyes (Methyl orange, Methylene blue, and RhodamineB) under visible light irradiation. Experimental results indicated that the nanofiber mat obtained at applied electric voltage of 18 kV could showhigher performance towards the photodegradation of organic contaminants. Moreover, field emission scanning electronmicroscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis confirmed the confinement ofAg2CO3 NPs inside polymeric NFs, which can overcome the serious problems of photocorrosion of photocatalystand secondary pollution. Overall, the introduced NFs can be used as efficient, low cost, and healthily safe visible lightdriven photocatalyst in the field of water treatment and can promote its industrial application, especially in the openwater surfaces.

Three different races of lepidopteron silk moth Bombyx mori were used in reciprocal and inter se crosses to determine heterosis effects at F₁and recombination loss at the F₂generation for three fitness traits (fecundity, larval duration, survival rate) and four productivity traits (larval weight, cocoon weight, shell weight, filament length). Eleven mating types were represented in the present study, including three pure breeds and a variety of F₁and F₂populations arising from regular and reciprocal crosses, respectively. Equations were derived to evaluate heterosis, maternal and overdominance effects for the above traits. Estimates of heterosis and overdominance effects revealed significant heterosis effects for all the traits, but overdominance was only seen for larval duration (favorable effect) and survival rate (unfavorable effect). Maternal effects were significant for the majority of the traits under study. The results revealed significant reduction for all the quantitative traits from F₁to F₂, except for larval duration. The most obvious explanation for the reduction of fitness parameters and productive traits is the reduction in heterozygosity from F₁to F₂(it is expected that one half of the heterozygosity of F₁is lost in F₂). For larval duration this explanation seems insufficient and breakdown of epistatic gene effects (i.e. recombination loss) has been suggested.

MADS-box genes are well known for the ABC model of flower development. In this study, we investigated the expressions of A, B and C functions Brassica rapa MADS-box genes in different Ogura cytoplasmic male sterile (CMS) lines of B. juncea, B. oleracea, and their wild types. We observed two AP1-like (BjAP1 and BoCAL1), three PISTILLATA-like (PI-like; BjPI1, BoPI1, and BoPI2) and six AGAMOUS-like (AG-like; BjAGL1, BjAGL2, BjAGL3, BjAGL4, BoAGL1, and BoAGL2) genes to be altered their expressions in the CMS B. juncea and B. oleracea compared to their wild types. Partial and complete petaloidy in the third whorl (stamen) were observed of two CMS B. juncea lines J26 and J27, respectively. Besides, a sepaloidy structure was evident in the third whorl of CMS B. oleracea line 25053. Altered expressions of BjAP1 and BjPI1 in the fourth whorl (pistil) can be correlated with curved and robust stature of pistils in CMS B. juncea. Furthermore, an in silico protein interaction analysis revealed that AP-like, PI-like, and AG-like proteins are in close association with different MADS-box proteins and LEAFY (LFY), UNUSUAL FLORAL ORGANS (UFO), SEUSS (SEU), LEUNIG (LUG) for different floral organ development. We suggest that expressions of MADS-box genes might be dependent on mitochondrial signaling for cytoplasmic homeosis in CMS B. juncea and B. oleracea. The expression dataset on A, B, and C functions MADS-box genes of CMS and wild type B. juncea and B. oleracea presented in this study might be useful for the development of CMS in different Brassica species.
