A Novel Transcoding Technique between EVRC and G.729A for Mobile Multimedia Devices

<P>In this paper, we propose a novel transcoding technique between enhanced variable rate codec (EVRC) and G.729A for mobile multimedia devices. The simplest way to communicate between heterogeneous speech networks is the cascade connection of two different codecs, called tandem coding. However, tandem coding not only has high computational loads, but also makes long delay. These problems can be solved by the effective transcoding algorithm using line spectral pair (LSP) and pitch delay conversion in speech codec. The proposed algorithm consists of LSP conversion, pitch delay conversion and algorithm for delay reduction. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm has lower computational complexity, shorter algorithm delay, and similar speech quality in comparison of the tandem algorithm.</P>
Digital Rights Management of A/V Codec for Mobile Devices

Traditional cryptographic algorithms / systems for data security are often not fast enough to process the vast amount of data generated by the multimedia applications to meet the real-time constraints. In this paper, we propose a new encryption method for digital rights managements of multimedia contents for mobile multimedia devices. For the audio copyright, the magnitude and phase information of modified discrete cosine transform coefficients is encrypted. Transformed coefficients and motion vectors are used for the encryption of video copyright. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve very low cost of the encryption. Moreover, the processing overhead is usually negligible, compared to compression / decompression.
An efficient POCS-based post-processing technique using wavelet transform in HDTV

In this paper, we propose a new post-processing method, based on the theory of the projection onto convex sets (POCS) to reduce the in digital high definition television (HDTV) decoded images. We propose a new smoothness constraint set (SCS) and its projection operator in the wavelet transform (WT) domain to remove unnecessary high-frequency components caused by blocking artifacts. We also propose a new method to find and preserve the original high frequency components of the image edge. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only achieve a significantly enhanced subjective quality, but also exhibit the PSNR improvement in the output image.

In this paper we propose the CBIR algorithm which is based on a novel image block method that combined both color and edge feature. The main drawback of global histogram representation is dependent of the color without spatial or shape information, a new image block method that divided the image to 8 related blocks which contained more information of the image is utilized to extract image feature. Based on these 8 blocks, histogram equalization and edge detection techniques are also used for image retrieval. The experimental results show that the proposed image block method has better ability of characterizing the image contents than traditional block method and can perform the retrieval system efficiently.

<P>In this paper, we propose an effective noise- robust modulation identification algorithm for adaptive receiver based on software defined radio. The proposed method can estimate the carrier frequency, symbol rate, and modulation scheme of the received signal without the use of the handshaking process requiring supplementary information such as the training sequence. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm demodulates the signal with a low probability of error at the noisy channel conditions.</P>

본 논문에서는 비디오 트랜스코딩을 위한 빠른 DCT 영역에서의 다운샘블링 기법을 제안한다. 실험 결과을 통하여 제안된 알고리듬은 영상화질에서 효과적인 향상과 낮은 복잡도의 성능을 보여준다.

최근에는 강재 부식 요인의 증가로 강구조물 유지ㆍ보수의 중요성이 부각되어 경제적이고 효율적인 유지관리가 요구되고 있다. 강교의 유지관리에서는 도막의 수명이 강교의 내용 년수에 비해서 상당히 짧기 때문에 양호한 도막상태를 유지하기 위한 재도장이 필요하다. 일반적으로 강교 도장의 재도장 시기를 판단하는 도막조사는 주로 육안관찰을 통해 이뤄지기 때문에 도장이나 도료에 관한 지식이나 경험의 유무에 따라 판정결과에 개인오차가 발생하므로 객관적ㆍ정량적ㆍ과학적 평가를 수행하는 것이 곤란하여 적절한 재도장 시기의 판단이 어렵다. 또한 최적의 시기에 재도장을 시행하지 못한 경우 구조물의 수명이 단축되어 유지보수 비용을 증가시키는 경제적인 측면의 문제점도 발생된다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해 화상처리기술을 이용하여 도막의 열화도 및 적절한 재도장 시기를 객관적, 정량적으로 판단할 수 있는 도막진단시스템을 개발이 필수적이다. Maintenance and repair of steel structure is an important issue in recent years. It is economic and required due to the increasement of corrosion factors of steel structure. The repainting is needed to reserve the good state of steel structure in maintenance and repair of steel structure, because the life of painted steel is very short compared with the general life time of the painted steel bridge. In general, it is difficult to decide the repainting time of steel bridge coating fil. Because the investigation of film is being done mainly through visual observation and is various to the availability of knowledge and experience on the determination result of personal. If the repainting of the optimal timing have not done, it happens a lot of problems which are the short life of the structure, increasing maintenance costs, and the economic parts. To solve these problems by using image processing techniques, the proper repainting and the degradation of film objectively and quantitatively to determine the coating is essential for the development of diagnostic system.
