Purpose: Recent reports indicate that small for gestational age (SGA) could be a risk factor for delayed thyroid stimulating hormone (dTSH) elevation in preterm infants. The development of dTSH elevation in SGA late-preterm infants with a gestational age of 34–36 weeks has been investigated in only a few studies.Methods: In the present retrospective study, 70 SGA infants and 86 sex- and gestational age-matched controls who presented with normal results on initial thyroid function testing were included.Results: SGA infants had a significantly higher prevalence of dTSH elevation (15.7% vs. 3.5%, P=0.009) compared with appropriate-for-gestational age infants. In SGA infants, the mean age at the time of dTSH was 24 days. Development of dTSH was associated with SGA and medical treatment with dopamine or furosemide. After adjusting for confounding factors, multiple logistic regression analysis showed SGA was a significant risk factor for the development of dTSH elevation (odds ratio, 23.2; 95% confidence interval, 2.27–236.91; <i>P</i>=0.008).Conclusion: SGA infants may be at risk for dTSH and clinicians could consider a second thyroid screening test around the age of 1 month.
Embarrassed Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation of Supraventricular Tachycardia in Pectus Excavatum

A 16-year-old patient with pectus excavatum visited our hospital because of palpitation. He underwent first Nuss operations at the age of 3. When he was 13 years old, the slow-fast type atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia was documented during electrophysiology study. However, the catheter ablation was not conducted because of recurrent atrial fibrillation during procedure. At that time, second Nuss operation was performed due to progressive chest wall deformity. And then, atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia was successfully treated by radiofrequency catheter ablation at the higher position than usual slow pathway zone under the modified fluoroscopic view with the cranial angle although distorted right atrial geometry and radiographic obstacle of Nuss operation bar. The concern about abnormal cardiac and electrical anatomy, and the accurate and modified procedure technique are essential in patients with pectus excavatum.
드라마 <오징어게임> 속 비속어 번역 양상과 격식성 변화

Korean cultural contents, collectively referred to as “K-Contents” in Korea, have been drawing growing interest since a Korean drama titled “Squid Game” gained immense popularity across the world after its release by the OTT (over-the-top) media service provider Netflix in September 2021. Subsequently, the violent and sexually suggestive content of “Squid Game” became a subject of controversy. While the degree of acceptance toward its violent and sexually suggestive content differed from country to country, the level of verbal violence and sexual suggestiveness expressed in the characters’ lines also differed by language, which is an important factor to consider in the context of translation. This research paper compares the Korean script of “Squid Game” with its Japanese subtitles with a focus on the use of swearwords, as well as English subtitles to further identify significant differences, and analyzes how formality changes in line with the level of profanity. The outcomes of the comparative analysis indicate that both the Japanese and English translations showed a higher degree of formality than the original Korean script. However, the analysis of the actual translation of swearwords in each language revealed that differences in translation stemmed from the patterns of how such swearwords are used in practice in the culture associated with each language. <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Functioning biocathodes are essential for electromethanogenesis. This study investigated the development of a biocathode from non-acclimated anaerobic sludge in an electromethanogenesis cell at a cathode potential of −0.7V (vs. standard hydrogen electrode) over four cycles of repeated batch operations. The CO<SUB>2</SUB>-to-CH<SUB>4</SUB> conversion rate increased (to 97.7%) while the length of the lag phase decreased as the number of cycles increased, suggesting that a functioning biocathode developed during the repeated subculturing cycles. CO<SUB>2</SUB>-resupply test results suggested that the biocathode catalyzed the formation of CH<SUB>4</SUB> via both direct and indirect (H<SUB>2</SUB>-mediated) electron transfer mechanisms. The biocathode archaeal community was dominated by the genus <I>Methanobacterium</I>, and most archaeal sequences (>89%) were affiliated with <I>Methanobacterium palustre</I>. The bacterial community was dominated by putative electroactive bacteria, with <I>Arcobacter</I>, which is rarely observed in biocathodes, forming the largest population. These electroactive bacteria were likely involved in electron transfer between the cathode and the methanogens.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Biocathode development during repeated electromethanogenesis cycles was monitored. </LI> <LI> A CH<SUB>4</SUB>-forming biocathode was successfully developed during the subculturing cycles. </LI> <LI> The CO<SUB>2</SUB>-to-CH<SUB>4</SUB> conversion rate increased while the lag time decreased over cycles. </LI> <LI> CH<SUB>4</SUB> was likely produced via both direct and indirect electron transfer mechanisms. </LI> <LI> <I>Methanobacterium</I> and electroactive bacteria dominated the biocathode community. </LI> </UL> </P>

본 논문은 LEO 위성 네트워크에서 핸드오버 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 알고리즘 연구 동향에 대해 서술한다. 강화학습, 게임이론, 네트워크 흐름에 기초한 중앙 집중 전략을 핸드오버에 적용한 연구를 통해 해당 알고리즘을 분석하였다. 또한, 해당 알고리즘을 실제로 적용한 사례를 통해 핸드오버 성능이 향상된 것을 확인하였다.
