        Safety analysis of nuclear containment vessels subjected to strong earthquakes and subsequent tsunamis

        Nuclear power plants under expansion and under construction in China are mostly located in coastal areas, which means they are at risk of suffering strong earthquakes and subsequent tsunamis. This paper presents a safety analysis for a new reinforced concrete containment vessel in such events. A finite element method-based model was built, verified, and first used to understand the seismic performance of the containment vessel under earthquakes with increased intensities. Then, the model was used to assess the safety performance of the containment vessel subject to an earthquake with peak ground acceleration (PGA) of 0.56g and subsequent tsunamis with increased inundation depths, similar to the 2011 Great East earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Results indicated that the containment vessel reached Limit State I (concrete cracking) and Limit State II (concrete crushing) when the PGAs were in a range of 0.8-1.1g and 1.2-1.7g, respectively. The containment vessel reached Limit State I with a tsunami inundation depth of 10 m after suffering an earthquake with a PGA of 0.56g. A site-specific hazard assessment was conducted to consider the likelihood of tsunami sources.

        Mechanical Performance and Stress–Strain Relationships for Grouted Splices Under Tensile and Cyclic Loadings

        Experimental studies were conducted on 36 grouted splices to investigate their mechanical performance under four loading schemes: (1) incremental tensile loading, (2) repeated tensile loading, (3) cyclic loading at high stress, and (4) cyclic loading at large strain. Load-deformation responses of the grouted splices under cyclic loadings were featured with pinching effect and stiffness degradation compared to those responses under tensile loadings. The shape of the hysteresis loops of load-deformation curves was similar to that under incremental tensile loading. For the purpose of structural analysis, stress–strain relationships were presented for grouted splices under various loadings.

        Design-oriented acceleration response spectrum for ground vibrations caused by collapse of large – scale cooling towers in NPPs

        Nuclear-related facilities can be detrimentally affected by ground vibrations due to the collapse ofadjacent cooling towers in nuclear power plants. To reduce this hazard risk, a design-oriented accelerationresponse spectrum (ARS) was proposed to predict the dynamic responses of nuclear-related facilitiessubjected to ground vibrations. For this purpose, 20 computational cases were performed basedon cooling tower-soil numerical models developed in previous studies. This resulted in about 2664ground vibration records to build a basic database and five complementary databases with considerationof primary factors that influence ground vibrations. Afterwards, these databases were applied to generatethe design-oriented ARS using a response spectrum analysis approach. The proposed design-orientedARS covers a wide range of natural periods up to 6 s and consists of an ascending portion, a plateau,and two connected descending portions. Spectral parameters were formulated based on statisticalanalysis. The spectrum was verified by comparing the representative acceleration magnitudes obtainedfrom the design-oriented ARS with those from computational cases using cooling tower-soil numericalmodels with reasonable consistency.

        부사 ‘사실’의 주관성과 주관화 연구

        목적 본 연구에서는 부사 ‘사실’이 객관적인 대조와 전환 역할에서 주관적인 대조와 전환, 더 나아가 주관화가 진행됨에 따라 전형적 의미가 사라지고 단지 화용적 용법만을 시행하는 등 주관화 강화 과정을 구체적으로 설명하는 데 목적을 둔다. 방법 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 우선 ‘21세기 세종말뭉치’를 사용하여 용례 분석을 진행한 후 의미의 객관성 용법과 주관성 용법으로 나누어 설명하였다. 주관성과 주관화 이론을 통하여 부사 ‘사실’이 사전에서 기술된 객관적인 대조와 전환 역할에서 주관화의 진행에 따라 기본 의미를 배제하고 단지 화용적 용법만을 수행하는 등 주관화 강화 과정을 연구하였다. 결과 분석 결과 객관적인 용법에서는 (1) 선행 구문(표층적 인식)과 후행 구문(객관적 사실) 사이에서 대조와 전환기능, (2) 선행 구문의 정보에 대해 객관적 사실로 수정하는 기능, (3) 선행 구문의 내용에 새로운 정보를 추가하는 기능 등을 보였고 주관적 용법에서는 (1) 표층적 인식에 대한 화자의 주관적 가치 평가 기능, (2) 후행 구문에 화자의 불만, 우려 등 부정적 감적을 추가하는 기능, (3) 대조와 전환의 의미가 사라지고 주관적인 의미 연장을 하는 기능, (4) 기본적인 의미가 완전히 사라진 화자의 주관적 담화 전략적 기능 등을 파악할 수 있었다. 결론 이렇게 ‘사실’의 의미가 원형적 의미에서 주관화가 진행됨에 따라 점차 추상적이고 화용적인 의미로 전이하고 있음을 확인하였다. Objectives The present study aims to explain the subjectivity and subjectivization of the adverb “Sasil”, analyzing how the meaning of the adverb “Sasil” changes from tis objective meaning to its subjective meaning, and finally forms its pragmatic meaning. Methods This study focuses on the objective and subjective usage of the adverb “Sasil” by taking the example sentences in “21st Century Sejong Corpus” as the research object. Through subjectivity and subjectivity theory, the process of strengthening subjectivity of the adverb ‘fact’ was analyzed. With the progress of subjectiveization, we looked at how it changes from the objective role described in the dictionary to the pragmatic use. Results The analysis shows that the objective semantics of “Sasil” are generally as follows: 1) Objective comparison and conversion of the former and latter contents, 2) The latter content of “Sasil” makes objective amendments to the former one, 3) The latter content supplements the former one. Situations with speaker subjectivity are generally interpreted as follows: 1) The speaker's subjective assessment of the objective situation, 2) Negative emotions such as dissatisfaction, disagreement and worry are added to the latter content, 3) The function of objective contrast and transformation as the basic meaning disappears and evolves into the subjective extension of the speaker, 4) The objective meaning disappears completely and is used as a pragmatic function of the speaker to maintain the subject. Conclusions It can be concluded that with the development of subjectivization, “Sasil” has gradually changed from typical meaning to abstract pragmatic meaning.

        Numerical Analysis of the Wave Shape in Light Storage

        Pirfenidone ameliorated AGE-induced EMT and attenuated peritoneal fibrosis in peritoneal mesothelial cells

        Background Peritoneal dialysis has greatly improved patient survival for patients with chronic kidney disease. However, peritoneal fibrosis is a progressive fibrotic peritoneal disease caused by dialysis, which may lead to ineffective dialysis or dialysis failure. It is well known that the EMT of peritoneal mesenchymal cells has been known to contribute to peritoneal fibrosis. Therefore, at present, inhibiting the formation and development of EMT has become the focus of peritoneal fibrosis. Objectives Pirfenidone has shown clinically relevant benefits in patients with pulmonary fibrosis, however, there is no research on peritoneal fibrosis. Thus, we examined the effect of pirfenidone on AGE-driven EMT in peritoneal mesenchymal cells and assessed its efficacy in inhibiting peritoneal fibrosis. Results AGEs were added with or without pirfenidone to the culture medium of HMrSV5 cells and we detected the changes of EMT and the signaling pathways involved. AGEs greatly reduced the E-cadherin level and augmented the α–SMA and vimentin expression. However, these effects were dramatically suppressed by pirfenidone treatment. Meanwhile, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by AGEs were suppressed by pirfenidone. Furthermore, under the action of AGEs, pirfenidone activated the nuclear transport of Nrf2, and accelerated the production of antioxidant factors. Conclusion Pirfenidone could attenuate AGE-mediated EMT in HPMCs and might be a promising therapeutic drug to antagonize peritoneal fibrosis.

        Buckling theoretical analysis on all-terrain crane telescopic boom with n-stepped sections

        Differential equations for telescopic boom with n-stepped sections are established on the basis of continuous beam column theory. The recursive formula for the stability of n-stepped telescopic boom is deduced by mathematical induction. The Levenberg-Marquardt numerical optimization algorithm combined with mechanical features is used to solve the transcendental equation in the recursive formula and determine the equations when n is unknown. The length coefficients obtained using the presented methods are compared with those of the China national standard GB3811-2008 and those calculated by ANSYS 17.0. Results show that the accuracy of the LevenbergMarquardt algorithm is better than those of other algorithms. Moreover, the obtained length coefficients display a certain degree of nonlinearity. Therefore, linear interpolation is feasible in small-scale practical applications. The use of linear interpolation method leads to large error in the critical force in n-stepped section of all-terrain cranes.

        The relationship between eccentric structure and super-lift device of all-terrain crane based on the overall stability

        When the large all-terrain crane operated under ultra-high hoisting height, the stability of boom system became the key factor of the lifting capacity. The installation of eccentric structure and super-lift device could help to improve the stability of boom system. In order to achieve the best effect of growth, it was important to study the relationship between eccentric structure and super-lift device. The eigenvalue buckling analysis and geometric nonlinear buckling analysis were carried out by ANSYS for the combined boom system of 500 t all-terrain crane with tower jib when lifting load, dead weight, offset load, wind load and lifting rope force were considered. And then the influence rule of the combined relationship between the strut length, opening angle, amplitude variation angle of the eccentric structure and the strut length, opening angle, amplitude variation angle of the super-lift device on the overall stability of combined boom system was analyzed to obtain the optimum parameter combination of eccentric structure and super-lift device, which provides reference for engineering practice.

        말뭉치를 활용한 정도부사 ‘꽤’의 공기 관계 연구

        목적 본 연구에서는 정도부사 ‘꽤’의 전반적인 분포, 사용 빈도 및 공기 관계를 살펴보면서 그 실현 양상과 의미·통사적 특징을 분석하였다. 방법 우선 국립국어원 세종말뭉치를 상대로 ‘꽤’의 사용 빈도와 공기 관계의 용례를 추출하여 1차 말뭉치를 정리하였고 그 결과를 토대로 ‘꽤’의 의미 차이를 밝히는 2차 작업을 진행하였다. 다음 ‘꽤’와 공기 관계에 있는 어휘들을 분류하여 결합 관계를 살펴보았으며 마지막으로 ‘꽤’의 의미·통사적 특징을 분석하였다. 결과 ‘꽤’와 공기 관계에 있는 어휘의 품사 분포 양상은 형용사>동사>부사>명사+용언>명사>관형사의 순위를 보였다. 의미·통사적 측면에서 ‘꽤’는 일반 정도부사의 [+상태성], [+존재성] 어휘를 수식한다는 제한을 받지 않고 [+동작성]을 가진 어휘도 직접적인 수식과 한정이 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 또 통념상 화자와 청자의 대화에서 사용되는 ‘꽤’는 부정적인 것을 원하거나 기대하지 않는 심리가 내재되어 있지만, 실제 표현에서는 정도부사 ‘꽤’에 [부정적 감정 지향]도 추가되어 사용되고 있다. 또 화자의 기대치를 반영하고 피수식어의 심리적 평가 기준에서 정도가 초과되는 상황을 가리키는 주관성 자질로 하여 ‘꽤’의 사용이 판정 의문문과 설명 의문문에서는 제약을 많이 받지만 수사 의문문일 경우에는 추측이나 확신 등 주관성 의미를 첨가해주면서 자연스럽게 사용되고 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 결론 본 연구는 정도부사 ‘꽤’의 사용 양상과 공기 관계를 분석하여 한국어 학습자들이 ‘꽤’의 용법을 더 정확하게 파악함으로써 올바르고 자연스러운 표현을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. Objectives Based on the full distribution, frequency of use, and co-occurrence of the degree adverb ‘kkwae’, this article analyzes its current use, semantic and syntactic characteristics. Methods Taking the Sejong Corpus of the National Academy of Languages in Korea as the object, the usage frequency of ‘kkwae’ and the example sentences in the co-occurrence are derived, and the different semantics of ‘kkwae’ are analyzed, and then combining with the vocabulary system appearing in the co-occurrence relationship, the semantic and syntactic characteristics of ‘kkwae’ are analyzed. Results The vocabulary distribution in the co-occurrence is arranged in the order of adjective > verb > adverb > noun + predicate > noun > article. From the perspective of semantics and syntax, adverbs of degree usually modify the vocabulary like [+stateity][+existence], and for the vocabulary like [+action] is more restricted. ‘Kkwae’ is not subject to this restriction and can modify the vocabulary like [+action] more freely. ‘kwae’ contains the mentality of “not expecting any negative things” in the communication between the speaker and the listener, but in actual use, the adverb of degree ‘kkwae’ followed by the expression of [negative emotion orientation]. In addition, ‘kkwae’ reflects the subjective characteristics of the speaker’s psychological evaluation, which makes the adverb less restricted and relatively flexible when adding rhetorical questions with subjective meanings such as speculation and conviction. Conclusions It is hoped that through the analysis of the distribution and co-occurrence of the degree adverb ‘kkwae’, Korean learners can better grasp the usage of ‘kkwae’ and use it more naturally.
