Synthesis of NiMn2O4 assisted by high-energy ball milling of NiO-MnO powders
Aguilar-Garib J. A.,Sánchez-de-Jesús F.,Bolarín-Miró A. M.,Ham-Hernández S. 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2011 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.12 No.6
This work presents a useful example of the fact that mechanical activation promotes solid state reaction in the preparation of a NiMn2O4 from NiO and MnO; shown evidence demonstrates that high-energy ball milling of MnO and NiO powders followed by a heat treatment can be considered a possible route for the synthesis of this compound. The powders were milled at room temperature in a shaker mixer in a weight ratio 1 : 10 of powder to zirconia balls. X-ray diffraction patterns show small differences among the powders milled for different times, while post milling heat treatments conducted at different temperatures for 1 hour showed an increase in the formation of the nickel spinel with a tetragonal structure, which was successfully obtained with this combined mechanosynthesis (MSP) - heat treatment method.

<B>Abstract</B><P>The response of <I>Grapholita molesta</I> (Busck) males to three-component sex pheromone blends containing a 100% ratio of the major sex pheromone component, (<I>Z</I>)-8-dodecenyl acetate and a 10% ratio of (<I>Z</I>)-8-dodecenol, but with varying ratios of (<I>E</I>)-8-dodecenyl acetate (0.4, 5.4, 10.4, 30.4, and 100.1% <I>E</I>-blends) was tested with populations in eight stone and pome fruit orchards in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. Traps baited with the 5.4% <I>E</I>-blend caught significantly more males than traps with any other blend with all populations. Significantly more males were caught in traps baited with the 10.4% <I>E</I>-blend than in traps with the remaining blends, except with the 0.4% <I>E-</I>blend in Turkey. Significant differences in male moth catches occurred between the other blends with the 0.4>30.4% <I>E-</I>blend, and the 30.4>100.1% <I>E-</I>blend. Male moth catches with the 100.1% <I>E</I>-blend only differed from the hexane control in Chile. No apparent differences were noted to these blends in populations collected from pome or stone fruits. Flight tunnel assays to synthetic blends with a subset of populations were similar to the field results, but the breadth of the most attractive <I>E-</I>blends was wider. Flight tunnel assays also demonstrated a high level of male-female cross-attraction among field-collected populations. Female gland extracts from field-collected populations did not show any significant variation in their three-component blends. The only exceptions in these assays were that long-term laboratory populations were less responsive and attractive, and produced different blend ratios of the two minor components than recently collected field populations.</P>
Experimental modal analysis of railway concrete sleepers with cracks
J.I. Real,M.E. Sánchez,T. Real,F.J. Sánchez,C. Zamorano 국제구조공학회 2012 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.44 No.1
Concrete sleepers are essential components of the conventional railway. As support elements, sleepers are always subjective to a variety of time-dependent loads attributable to the train operations, either wheel or rail abnormalities. It has been observed that the sleepers may deteriorate due to these loads, inducing the formation of hairline cracks. There are two areas along the sleepers that are more prone to crack: the central and the rail seat sections. Several non-destructive methods have been developed to identify failures in structures. Health monitoring techniques are based on vibration responses measurements, which help engineers to identify the vibration-based damage or remotely monitor the sleeper health. In the present paper, the dynamic effects of the cracks in the vibration signatures of the railway pre-stressed concrete sleepers are investigated. The experimental modal analysis has been used to evaluate the modal bending changes in the vibration characteristics of the sleepers, differentiating between the central and the rail seat locations of the cracks. Modal parameters changes of the ‘healthy’ and cracked sleepers have been highlighted in terms of natural frequencies and modal damping. The paper concludes with a discussion of the most suitable failure indicator and it defines the vibration signatures of intact, central cracked and rail seat cracked sleepers.
Detecting Malware in Cyberphysical Systems Using Machine Learning: a Survey
( Montes F. ),( Bermejo J. ),( Sánchez L. E. ),( Bermejo J. R. ),( Sicilia J. A. ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.3
Among the scientific literature, it has not been possible to find a consensus on the definition of the limits or properties that allow differentiating or grouping the cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things (IoT). Despite this controversy the papers reviewed agree that both have become crucial elements not only for industry but also for society in general. The impact of a malware attack affecting one of these systems may suppose a risk for the industrial processes involved and perhaps also for society in general if the system affected is a critical infrastructure. This article reviews the state of the art of the application of machine learning in the automation of malware detection in cyberphysical systems, evaluating the most representative articles in this field and summarizing the results obtained, the most common malware attacks in this type of systems, the most promising algorithms for malware detection in cyberphysical systems and the future lines of research in this field with the greatest potential for the coming years.
ARE GALACTIC WARPS INDUCED BY INTERGALACTIC FLOWS?
F. J. SÁNCHEZ-SALCEDO 한국천문학회 2004 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.37 No.5
The interaction of disk galaxies with intergalactic winds has been invoked as a possible mechanismof the generation of galactic warps. Here we discuss conditions under which intergalactic ows canbe relevant for warping eld galaxies. Constraints include the heating of the outer disk, the level ofasymmetry in the vertical distribution of the volume gas density, the angular frequency of the warp, thesymmetry of galactic warps amplitude between the approaching and receding sides of the galaxy, and thespeed of the intergalactic ow whether subsonic or supersonic. These constraints are discussed in thispaper in reference to the proposal of Lopez-Corredoira et al. that warps can be a natural consequenceof accretion ows onto the disk.
