한반도 고전문학의 대표작 <춘향전>은 세계 속에 널리 알려진 지명도가 높은 작품의 하나이다. <춘향전>은 작품 그 자체의 독특한 특성과 1950년대 중국과 북한 간의 독특한 사회 역사적 환경으로 인하여 소설, 희곡 등 장르로 번역 개편 되여 광범위하게 수용 전파되면서 독특한 양상을 보여주었다. 1950년대 중국에서의 창극 <춘향전>과 소설 <춘향전>의 번역 전파는 당시 중국과 북한의 국민들간의 친선적 문화 공감대를 형성하는데 일조하였을 뿐만 아니라 중한 문학교류사의 중요한 한 페이지를 장식하였다.
Optimum Lactose: Sucrose Ratio for the Pigs Weaned at 21 Days of Age

A total of 240 weaned pigs (BW 5.4 kg) were allotted in a completely randomized block design to find out the optimum lactose : sucrose ratio for the weaned pigs. Treatments were 100:0 (A), 75:25 (B), 50:50 (C), 25:75 (D) and 0:100 (E) in lactose : sucrose ratio. For the first week after weaning, average daily gain (ADG) and feed/gain (F/G) were improved (p < 0.05) for pigs fed A, B and C diets compared to pigs fed diets D and E, but the average daily feed intakes (ADFI) of the pigs were not different. From d 7 to 14, no significant differences was found in ADG and ADFI among the treatments, but pigs fed the diets A, B and C had improved F/G compared with the pigs fed diets D and E (p < 0.05). From d 15 to 21, no significant differences were found in ADG, ADFI and F/G among the treatments. The digestibility of nutrients was not influenced by the lactose : sucrose ratio except nitrogen. Nitrogen digestibility of A diet was significantly higher than D and E diets (p < 0.05) but no significant differences were found among diets A, B and C. Dry matter and phosphorus excretions were not influenced by the treatments. The pigs fed diets A, B and C excreted significantly less nitrogen than the pigs fed diets D and E. In conclusion, the results suggest that sucrose can effectively replace up to 50% lactose in starter diets.

<P>Abstract</P><P>A new QTL for spikelets per panicle (SPP) was detected on the long arm of chromosome 7 in an F<SUB>2</SUB> population derived from a cross between the <I>japonica</I> cultivar Hwaseongbyeo and WH29001. WH29001, an advanced backcross line was developed by introgressing chromosomal segments from an accession of <I>O</I>.<I> minuta</I> (2n = 48, BBCC, Acc. no. 101141) into the <I>O. sativa</I> subsp. <I>japonica</I> cv. Hwaseongbyeo. The <I>O. minuta</I> allele increased SPP in the Hwaseongbyeo background despite the fact that <I>O. minuta</I> was the small panicle parent. Using F<SUB>3</SUB> and F<SUB>4</SUB> progenies, <I>spp7</I> was validated and mapped to a 2.3 Mb region in the interval between the SSR markers RM445 and RM21615 based on the japonica genome sequence. A yield trial using F<SUB>4</SUB> lines indicated that the lines carrying an <I>O. minuta</I> chromosome segment across the entire <I>spp7</I> target region out-yielded its sister lines containing Hwaseongbyeo chromosome in the target region and Hwaseongbyeo by 14.3% and 15.9%, respectively. Increase in SPP in WH29001 was mainly because of the increase in primary branches per panicle. The locus, <I>spp7</I> is of particular interest because of its independence from undesirable height and flowering time. SSR markers tightly linked to the <I>spp7</I> will facilitate cloning of the gene underlying this QTL as well as marker-assisted selection for variation in SPP in an applied breeding program.</P>

<P>Organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) has made significant advances recently, and it is now possible to fabricate thin film composite (TFC) membranes with a selective layer thickness below 10 nm that gives ultrafast solvent permeance. However, such high permeance is inadvertently limited by the support membrane beneath the selective layer, and thus there is an urgent need to develop a suitable support to maximize TFC performance. In this work, we employed a commercially available polyethylene (PE) battery separator as a porous support to fabricate high performance TFC OSN membranes. To deposit a uniform polyamide selective layer onto the porous support via interfacial polymerization, the PE support was hydrophilized with O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma and the reaction efficiency was optimized using a surfactant. Owing to the high surface porosity of the PE support and the high permselectivity of the PA layer, the PE-supported TFC membrane outperformed the previously reported OSN membranes and its performance exceeded the current performance upper bound. A solvent activation step dramatically improved the solvent permeance by 5-fold while maintaining nanoseparation properties. In addition to the superior OSN performance, the commercial availability of the PE support and simplified TFC fabrication protocol would make the PE-supported OSN membranes commercially attractive.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Social Cognition Training for Individuals with Schizophrenia: A Review of Targeted Interventions

Social cognitive impairment is a potential target for intervention to improve functional outcome in individuals with schizophrenia and there is growing evidence showing the feasibility of improving social cognition in schizophrenia. We briefly describe the current concept of social cognition, its impairment in schizophrenia, and the relationship to social dysfunction in patients with schizophrenia. We review five extant treatment programs specifically focusing on social cognitive ability without other intervention components. The initial validation studies on these interventions have demonstrated promising results, suggesting that targeted interventions on social cognition can enhance social cognition in schizophrenia. Finally, we also describe the unanswered issues and directions for future studies.

<P>Enolase on the surface of streptococci putatively facilitates pathogenic invasion of the host organisms. The related Leuconostoc mesenteroides 512FMCM is nonpathogenic, but it too has an extracellular enolase. Purified isolates of extracellular dextransucrase from cultures of L. mesenteroides contain minute amounts of enolase, which separate as small crystals. Expression of L. mesenteroides enolase in Escherichia coli provides a protein (calculated subunit mass of 47 546 Da) catalyzing the conversion of 2-phsopho-D-glycerate to phosphoenolpyruvate. The pH optimum is 6.8, with Km and kcat values of 2.61 mM and 27.5 s(-1), respectively. At phosphate concentrations of 1 mM and below, fluoride is a noncompetitive inhibitor with respect to 2-phospho-D-glycerate, but in the presence of 20 mM phosphate, fluoride becomes a competitive inhibitor. Recombinant enolase significantly inhibits the activity of purified dextransucrase, and does not bind human plasminogen. Results here suggest that in some organisms enolase may participate in protein interactions that have no direct relevance to pathogenic invasion.</P>
