The Amgififa deposit is located in the southwestern part of the Haya terrain in the Arabian Nubian Shield (ANS), Sudan. Mineral exploration and mining are active in this region at various scales (from artisanal to large-scale companies). The Ag, Cu, Zn, and Pb concentrations in the Amgififa deposit are ranging in 0.01-135 ppm, 35-30425 ppm, 18.49-1781.5 ppm, and 9.9-22797 ppm, respectively. However, the geological and structural setting of the deposit area is not well known because the host rock and ore bodies are covered by Quaternary sediments and active sands up to 7 meters. To unravel the structural controls on the Amgififa deposit, we conducted a systematic outcrop scale structural analysis based on the Amgififa mine pits and trenches. The geological and structural settings of the study area have high similarities with that of the southwestern part of the Neoproterozoic Nakasib Suture Zone (one of the most prominent structures of the ANS truncated by a younger SE trending sinistral Oko Shear Zone (OSZ)). The structural evolution in the region could be summarized as follows. At the early stage of D1, the NW-SE collision between Haya and Gebet terranes developed isoclinal inclined folds (F1) and regional foliation oriented NE-SW parallel to the F1 axial plane (transposition deformation). During the late stage of D1, the opening of the Amgififa pull-apart is triggered due to the dextral shear along right-stepping relay faults. During the D2 stage, as a result of a slight change in the regional stress direction from NW to NNW, the D1 structures and breccias within the pull-apart were uprightly folded with NE trending axial plane. During the D3 stage, the regional stress direction was changed to NNE, resulting in ~EW-trending folds (F3) and NNE extensional veins (Q2). Later on, D4 was developed when the dextral shear zones (which formed the pull-apart during D1) were inverted as sinistral due to ~ EW compression. During the D4 stage, EW extensional quartz vein and local thrust fault were formed around the deposit. The Amgififa deposit has the characteristics of non-classic VMS formed in a local extensional setting associated with a pull-apart resulted from the interaction between NW-SE trending shear zones.
Long-term deflection of high-strength fiber reinforced concrete beams
Ashour, Samir A.,Mahmood, Khalid,Wafa, Faisal F. Techno-Press 1999 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.8 No.6
The paper presents an experimental and theoretical study on the influence of steel fibers and longitudinal tension and compression reinforcements on immediate and long-term deflections of high-strength concrete beams of 85 MPa (12,300 psi) compressive, strength. Test results of eighteen beams subjected to sustained load for 180 days show that the deflection behavior depends on the longitudinal tension and compression reinforcement ratios and fiber content; excessive amount of compression reinforcement and fibers may have an unfavorable effect on the long-term deflections. The beams having the ACI Code's minimum longitudinal tension reinforcement showed much higher time-dependent deflection to immediate deflection ratio, when compared with that of the beams having about 50 percent of the balanced tension reinforcement. The results of theoretical analysis of tested beams and those of a parametric study show that the influence of steel fibers in increasing the moment of inertia of cracked transformed sections is most pronounced in beams having small amount of longitudinal tension reinforcement.
IMTAR: Incremental Mining of General Temporal Association Rules
Dafa-Alla, Anour F.A.,Shon, Ho-Sun,Saeed, Khalid E.K.,Piao, Minghao,Yun, Un-Il,Cheoi, Kyung-Joo,Ryu, Keun-Ho Korea Information Processing Society 2010 Journal of information processing systems Vol.6 No.2
Nowadays due to the rapid advances in the field of information systems, transactional databases are being updated regularly and/or periodically. The knowledge discovered from these databases has to be maintained, and an incremental updating technique needs to be developed for maintaining the discovered association rules from these databases. The concept of Temporal Association Rules has been introduced to solve the problem of handling time series by including time expressions into association rules. In this paper we introduce a novel algorithm for Incremental Mining of General Temporal Association Rules (IMTAR) using an extended TFP-tree. The main benefits introduced by our algorithm are that it offers significant advantages in terms of storage and running time and it can handle the problem of mining general temporal association rules in incremental databases by building TFP-trees incrementally. It can be utilized and applied to real life application domains. We demonstrate our algorithm and its advantages in this paper.
A 3D CFD analysis of flow past a hipped roof with comparison to industrial building standards
Khalid Khalil,Huzafa Khan,Divyansh Chahar,Jamie F. Townsend,Zeeshan A. Rana 한국풍공학회 2022 Wind and Structures, An International Journal (WAS Vol.34 No.6
Three-dimensional (3D) computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of flow around a hipped-roof building representative of UK inland conditions are conducted. Unsteady simulations are performed using three variations of the k–ϵ RANS turbulence model namely, the Standard, Realizable, and RNG models, and their predictive capability is measured against current European building standards. External pressure coefficients and wind loading are found through the BS 6399-2:1997 standard (obsolete) and the current European standards (BS EN 1991-1-4:2005 and A1:20101). The current European standard provides a more conservative wind loading estimate compared to its predecessor and the k–ϵ RNG model falls within 15% of the value predicted by the current standard. Surface shear stream-traces and Q-criterion were used to analyze the flow physics for each model. The RNG model predicts immediate flow separation leading to the creation of vortical structures on the hipped-roof along with a larger separation region. It is observed that the Realizable model predicts the side vortex to be a result of both the horseshoe vortex and the flow deflected off it. These model-specific aerodynamic features present the most disparity between building standards at leeward roof locations. Finally, pedestrian comfort and safety criteria are studied where the k–ϵ Standard model predicts the most ideal pedestrian conditions and the Realizable model yields the most conservative levels.

Background: Surgical and conservative methods have been reported by various studies for high rates of fracture union and subsequent regain of function among patients with undisplaced or minimally-displaced scaphoid fractures. Hence, this study aims to analyze the best available evidence to comprehend the relative benefits and risks of these therapeutic options. Methods: A systematic search of the literature from different databases and search engines was performed with strict eligibility criteria to obtain the highest quality of evidence. All randomized controlled trials delineating the outcomes of surgical versus conservative treatments for acute undisplaced or minimally-displaced scaphoid fractures were included and then evaluated using scoring tools: Cochrane risk of bias tool and PEDro scale. Data were pooled using random-effects models with standard mean differences for continuous outcomes and risk ratios for dichotomous variables. Results: The search yielded 339 potentially related articles, further trimmed down to eight studies based on the eligibility criteria. The meta-analysis revealed that surgical treatment resulted in significantly better functional outcomes than conservative treatment. Furthermore, surgery resulted in the prevention of delayed union of fractures and reduction of time needed to return to work. Conclusions: While four studies reported advantages of surgical treatment, evidence was insufficient to provide a definitive conclusion that surgery is a better option. Due to the significant limitations with respect to certain variables, the superiority of one method to the other could not be established.

Alteration of redox status is one of the molecular pathways commonly associated with pesticide toxicity. Antioxidants, including those obtained from plant phenolics, have been shown to mitigate pesticide-induced cellular injury. The present study was aimed at evaluating the effect of daflon-500®, a flavonoid compound on sub-chronic chlorpyriphos-evoked changes in antioxidant and biochemical parameters in the hypophysis and testes of adult male rats. Twenty-five male albino rats were randomly divided into 5 groups of 5 animals each. Group I (DW) received distilled water (2 ml/kg); group II (SO) was dosed with soya oil (2 ml/kg); Group III (DAF) received daflon-500® at 1000 mg/kg ̴ 1/5th of LD50 (≥ 5000 mg/kg); group IV (CP) was administered chlorpyriphos at 7.74 mg/kg ̴ 1/10th of LD50 (77.4 mg/kg) while group V (DAF + CP) was previously treated with daflon-500® (1000 mg/kg) and then exposed to CP (7.74 mg/kg), 30 min later. Daily oral regimen administration was done for 60 days after which the animals were sacrificed by cervical venesection after light chloroform anesthesia. The hypophysis and testicular tissues were harvested, and their homogenates were analyzed for malondialdehyde, catalase and superoxide dismutase, and acetylcholinesterase levels. A significant increase in the hypophysis and testicular MDA concentrations, coupled with a decrease in the SOD, CAT, and AChE activities were observed in the CP group. The levels of these oxidative and biochemical parameters were alleviated in the group pretreated with Daflon-500®. Results of this study demonstrated that pre-treatment with Daflon-500® mitigated CP-induced alterations in oxidative and biochemical parameters apparently due to the antioxidant effect of the flavonoid compound.

A series of bipyrazoles functionalized withsulfonamide, N1,N3-disubstituted sulfonylurea, sulfonylthioureapharmacophores, and some derived thiazolidinoneand thiazoline ring systems were synthesized. Thestructures of the newly synthesized compounds were substantiatedby analytical and diverse spectroscopic data. Theanti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity of some of thenewly synthesized compounds were tested and the resultsreveled that compounds 14, 16, 20, 24 and 25 proved to bethe most active anti-inflammatory agents according to theCarrageenan-induced rat paw edema bioassay. Whereas, the analogs 14, 16 and 24 were able to exhibit good tomoderate antioxidant activity in the DPPH radical-scavengingassay. Hence, compounds 14, 16 and 24 can beconsidered as lead structures for dual anti-inflammatoryand antioxidant activities.
