      • A Novel Taxonomy and Comparison Method for Ranking Cloud Computing Software Products

Ehsan Arianyan,Mohammad Reza Ahmadi,Davood Maleki 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.3

Cloud computing as a new and modern technology has become a focus of attention and a platform for future services. Cloud computing services have been categorized into three main groups of services, which are infrastructure, platform, and software. Each service has its own unique characteristic while all services have also some common characteristics and challenges. Such characteristics create a complicated combination of features to serve selection of cloud solutions. This paper presents a new feature based taxonomy which facilitates the process of cloud software product selection. More precisely, Hierarchical Cloud Taxonomy Engine is the proposed method to help developers and consumers choose their appropriate product according to their needs and based on real capabilities of different cloud computing products. Moreover, this paper proposes a new evaluation mechanism which sorts the cloud products according to the customer’s needs and requirements. Besides, this paper presents a classification model for cloud features and subsequently presents a comparison between some business and research cloud products as a case study. Results of comparisons show that our proposed techniques facilitate the process of cloud product selection.

A Survey on Low Back Pain Risk Factors in Steel Industry Workers in 2015

        Ehsan Rafeemanesh,Farzad Omidi Kashani,Reza Parvaneh,Fatemeh Ahmadi 대한척추외과학회 2017 Asian Spine Journal Vol.11 No.1

Study Design: This was a cross-sectional study. Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of low back pain (LBP) and its association with individual factors and current job status among steel industry workers in Mashhad, Iran. Overview of Literature: Several studies have been conducted on LBP and its related risk factors, some of which emphasized occupational factors as the main etiology of LBP. Meanwhile, individual risk factors have been emphasized in other studies. Despite several published articles, there are still many unresolved, basic issues about developing LBP. Methods: For this study, 358 male workers were selected by a random sampling method and divided into two groups: production workers (n=201) and administrative personnel (n=157). Data were collected using modified Nordic questionnaire and physical examination. Statistical analysis was performed to identify the correlation between individual factors and current job status with LBP. Results: Despite the young age of participants and their short employment duration, the overall prevalence of LBP was high (32.4%) in this industry. The prevalence of non-specific LBP in production workers and administrative personnel was 26.8% and 21.0%, respectively. Disk herniation was observed in 10.4% of production workers and 6.3% of administrative personnel. Age, employment duration, body mass index and smoking status were similar in the two groups. There was no significant relationship between LBP and current job status; however, a significant relationship was found between prevalence of LBP with age, duration of employment, and leisure time physical activity (p <0.05). Conclusions: We have not found any relationship between LBP and current occupational status suggesting that the effects of general health-related factors such as weight, age, leisure time physical activity, and duration of employment are more important than occupational factors in developing LBP.

Investigation of the Anti-wear Properties of Nano Additives on Sliding Bearings of Internal Combustion Engines

Ehsan-o-llah Ettefaghi,Hojjat Ahmadi,Seyed Saeid Mohtasebi,Alimorad Rashidi 한국정밀공학회 2013 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

This study investigated anti-wear properties of SAE-20W50 engine oil, containing fullerene spherical nanoparticles, carbon nano balls and vanadium oxide nanotubes. Three kinds of wear tests including four-ball test, pin on disc test and engine tribo-test were done on base oil and nano lubricants, which were made at 0.1%wt concentration. The results obtained from four-ball standard tests indicated 5-15% reduction in rate of wear in nano lubricants. In addition, the results of pin on disc and engine tests on sliding bearings showed that the amount of wear and surface quality of bearings in nano lubricants with respect to the base oil considerably improved.

Inhibition of quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa by two herbal essential oils from Apiaceae family

        Ehsan Sepahi,Saeed Tarighi,Farajollah Shahriari Ahmadi,Abdolreza Bagheri 한국미생물학회 2015 The journal of microbiology Vol.53 No.2

Ferula (Ferula asafoetida L.) and Dorema (Dorema aucheri Bioss.) both from Apiaceae family were tested for their antiquorum sensing (QS) activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Both essential oils exhibited anti-QS activity at 25 μg/ml of concenteration. At this concenteration Ferula fully abolished and Dorema reduced the violacein production by C. violaceum. Pyocyanin, pyoverdine, elastase and biofilm production were decreased in Ferula oil treatments. Dorema oil reduced pyoverdine and elastase production, while pyocyanin and biofilm production were not affacted. Expresion analysis of QS-dependent genes confirmed our phenotypic data. Our data introduced native Dorema and Ferula plants as novel QS and virulence inhibitors.

A proposed framework for holding intensive 3Rs workshops in laboratory animal science

        Siavash Ahmadi-Noorbakhsh,Jila Sadighi,Zahra Hatami,Ehsan Shamsi Gooshki 한국실험동물학회 2022 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.38 No.1

Principles of 3Rs are the backbone of today’s animal research. Applying 3Rs in practice requires proper education and training. Although this could be achieved via long-term courses ranging from several weeks to years, in some circumstances a short-term course may be the only viable option. In this paper we define scientific and ethical objectives for running short-term 3Rs workshops. To meet these objectives, we propose a 2-day workshop curriculum and an ethical framework. The curriculum comprises theoretical and practical sessions and covers Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement strategies. The ethical framework defines the responsibilities of lecturers and attendees, and proposes the animals and facilities requirements to run the proposed workshop curriculum. The attendees will be assessed at the end of the workshop and they receive certificates for working under supervision until they are deemed competent at their intended functions. The proposed curriculum and framework are not subscriptive, instead they share the experience gained through running more than 60 laboratory animal 3Rs workshops.

Anesthesia and analgesia for common research models of adult mice

        Siavash Ahmadi-Noorbakhsh,Mohammad Farajli Abbasi,Maedeh Ghasemi,Gholamreza Bayat,Nahid Davoodian,Ehsan Sharif-Paghaleh,Seyedeh Mahsa Poormoosavi,Melika Rafizadeh,Maryam Maleki,Hesamaddin Shirzad-Aski 한국실험동물학회 2022 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.38 No.4

Anesthesia and analgesia are major components of many interventional studies on laboratory animals. However, various studies have shown improper reporting or use of anesthetics/analgesics in research proposals and published articles. In many cases, it seems “anesthesia” and “analgesia” are used interchangeably, while they are referring to two different concepts. Not only this is an unethical practice, but also it may be one of the reasons for the proven suboptimal quality of many animal researches. This is a widespread problem among investigations on various species of animals. However, it could be imagined that it may be more prevalent for the most common species of laboratory animals, such as the laboratory mice. In this review, proper anesthetic/analgesic methods for routine procedures on laboratory mice are discussed. We considered the available literature and critically reviewed their anesthetic/analgesic methods. Detailed dosing and pharmacological information for the relevant drugs are provided and some of the drugs’ side effects are discussed. This paper provides the necessary data for an informed choice of anesthetic/analgesic methods in some routine procedures on laboratory mice.

Effects of Soy Bread on Cardiovascular Risk Factor, Inflammation and Oxidative Stress in Women With Active Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial

        Afsaneh Sayyaf,Ehsan Ghaedi,Fatemeh Haidari,Elham Rajaei,Kambiz Ahmadi-engali,Bijan Helli 한국임상영양학회 2024 Clinical Nutrition Research Vol.13 No.1

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a systemic inflammatory autoimmune disorder with widespread synovitis. Isoflavones, the main active component of soy, have been reported to have potent anti-inflammatory effects; the previous RA animal models showed the promising effect of soy supplementation. We aimed to evaluate the effect of soy bread on inflammatory markers and lipid profiles in RA patients. The present study was designed as a randomized controlled trial. RA patients were randomly allocated to obtain soy bread (n = 22) or placebo bread (n = 22) for 8 weeks. Fasting serum levels of lipid profile, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), C-reactive protein (CRP), and DAS28 were checked. Findings showed that there were no significant differences between the two groups in physical activity and dietary intake at the beginning of the study and the end of the study. There were no significant differences between the two groups in measured lipid profile markers, including high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and very low-density lipoprotein, at the end of the trial. In addition, TAC and CRP also were not significant at the end of the trial between the 2 groups (0.66 and 0.12, respectively). However, the serum levels of TNF-α reduced significantly in the soy bread group at the end of the intervention (p < 0.000) and compared with the control group (p < 0.019). Soy bread consumption only decreased circulating TNF-α serum concentration. Other outcome measures were not changed following supplementation. Future long-term, well-designed studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Comparative treatment of textile wastewater by adsorption, Fenton, UV-Fenton and US-Fenton using magnetic nanoparticles-functionalized carbon (MNPs@C)

        Ali Akbar Babaei,Babak Kakavandic,Mohammad Rafiee,Fariba Kalantarhormizi,Ilnaz Purkaram,Ehsan Ahmadi,Shirin Esmaeili 한국공업화학회 2017 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.56 No.-

Textile wastewater was treated using an enhanced simultaneous adsorption/oxidation process withmagnetic nanoparticles-functionalized carbon (MNPs@C) and H2O2, UV and ultrasonic (US). Bothfilmandpore-diffusion affect adsorption mechanisms were included in the adsorption process. The dyeadsorption was enhanced by oxidative degradation in the present of H2O2 with the suitability in order ofUV-Fenton > US-Fenton > Fenton. Catalytic potential of 47% was observed for MNPs@C/H2O2/UV system. For UV-Fenton system 94.8% removal of dye with minimal iron leaching was observed after 5 times ofrecycle. Increasing catalytic activity of MNPs@C on direct red 16 (DR16) degradation follows the order ofPMS > PS > H2O2.

Introduction of a handmade vacuum-assisted sponge drain for the treatment of anastomotic leakage after low anterior rectal resection

        Keshvari, Amir,Badripour, Abolfazl,Keramati, Mohammad Reza,Kazemeini, Alireza,Behboudi, Behnam,Fazeli, Mohammad Sadegh,Rahimpour, Ehsan,Ghaffari, Parisa,Tafti, Seyed Mohsen Ahmadi 대한대장항문학회 2022 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.38 No.3

Purpose: Anastomotic leakage, a known major postoperative complication, potentially leads to readmission, reoperation, and increased mortality rates in patients, such as rectal cancer patients following a low anterior resection (LAR). Currently, vacuum-assisted closure, as featured by B-Braun (B-Braun Medical B.V.), is already being used for the treatment of gastrointestinal leakages and fistulas. The main aim of this study was to introduce a novel method for creating a vacuum-assisted drain for the treatment of anastomotic leakage after LAR. Methods: All 10 patients, who underwent LAR surgery from 2018 to 2019, were diagnosed with anastomotic leakage and had received neoadjuvant chemotherapy prior to surgery. Therefore, patients were treated with a handmade vacuum-assisted drain and were revisited every 5 to 7 days for further evaluations and drain replacement until leakage resolution. Physical features of cavity, time of diagnose, and duration of treatment were analyzed correspondingly. The handmade vacuum-assisted sponge drain was prepared for each patient in each session of follow-up. Results: Eight out of 10 patients experienced complete closure of the defect. The mean delay time from the day of operation to the diagnosis of anastomotic leakage was 61.0±80.4 days while the mean time for leakage closure was 117.6±68.3 days. Eventually, 7 cases underwent ileostomy reversal with no complications during a 3-month follow-up. Conclusion: In this study, we evaluated the healing process of anastomotic leakage after the usage of a handmade vacuum-assisted sponge drain in a case series method. In our trial, we provided an innovative cost-benefit method easily applicable in the operating room.
