        본 연구는 기존 포스트텐션(외부강선) 공법이 갖는 문제점(예: 정착구 힘의 집중, 외부 돌출된 보강재의 지속적인 관리 등)들을 극복하고 보다 발전된 구조형식을 적용하고자 하였다. 노후화된 콘크리트 구조물을 대상으로 긴장재의 프리텐션을 이용하여 보수·보강이 동시에 가능하며, 우수한 미관을 제공하는 신개념의 시공 기술을 개발하고 성능을 평가하고자 한다. 본 기술은 기존 유지관리 공법들이 갖는 한계와 문제점을 극복하고 보다 효율적인 구조물 성능향상 공법을 개발하고자 한다. 또한, 본 기술은 노후된 콘크리트 거더교를 주 보강 대상으로 하지만, 인장 또는 전단균열이 발생한 벽체와 곡선 표면을 가진 콘크리트 구조물 등 대부분의 노후 콘크리트 보강에 적용 가능하고, 보강성능도 우수할 것으로 예상된다.

        Specificational Pseudoclefts and a Negative Sensitive Item Connectivity Effect

        A negative sensitive item (NSI) connectivity effect shown in specificational pseudoclefts refers to a phenomenon where the NSI pivot can be licensed by the negation marker in the presupposition CP, even though the pivot is not in the scope of the negation marker in narrow syntax. English specificational pseudoclefts exhibit this connectivity effect, while Korean ones do not. In this squib, I argue that this contrast is attributable to the difference in characteristics of NSIs between the two languages, and that the breakdown of the NSI connectivity effect in Korean is induced by the semantic/pragmatic requirements imposed on specificational pseudoclefts.

        Not all CPs Are Phases!

        Since the inception of phase theory (Chomsky 2000), there has been considerable debate over the exact nature of phases. Chomsky (2000, et seq.) proposes that unaccusative and passive vPs are not phases. On the other hand, Legate (2003) argues that unaccusative and passive vPs are also (strong) phases (see also Sauerland 2003). However, Legate (2012) suggests that v is not a phase when it does not assign case. Although there is no consensus on the phasehood of v, researchers seem to agree that every (finite) CP is a phase. This is based on a variety of empirical data showing that elements moving across a clause boundary land in Spec,CP en route to their surface position. However, in this paper, I will argue that not all CPs are phases, using Korean Exceptional Case Marking (ECM) construction, and Fox and Pesetsky’s (2005) Cyclic Linearization.

      • Carbon Dioxide Capture and High Purity Calcium Carbonate Production by Target Metal Separation

        In this research, carbon dioxide is captured and chemically converted to high purity calcium carbonate salt which can be used for various industrial fields. Aqueous indirect inorganic carbonation methods were applied throughout the research and seawater-based industrial wastewater was utilized for metal ion supply. For CO2 capture, representative alkanolamine absorbent solutions in 30 wt% concentration were used, that is, monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), and methyldiethanolamine (MDEA). For high purity metal ion separation, calcium ion contained in the seawater-based industrial waster was separated in the form of gypsum followed by the carbonation reaction to form high purity calcium carbonate salt. Consiering the final products and their economic cost, the cycle using MEA will be proper. However, if MDEA can be used, the amount of carbon dioxide capture capacity per cycle would be great. Also, conceptual continuous cycle which produces calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate was suggested. This research may help the nations such as European nations or east asian countries like Korea and Japan where no adequate CO2 storages exist and crust activities are in progress, if commercialized.

        The Sluicing-Comp Generalization and the Economy Principle

        Merchant (2001) proposes an insightful generalization that non-operator elements cannot survive sluicing, which is referred to as the Sluicing-Comp Generalization. Researchers have tried account for how we can capture the generalization, by using several theories of ellipsis. Park (2017) proposes a derivational approach to ellipsis, whereby ellipsis is an overt syntactic operation that eliminates the phonological feature matrices of lexical items inside the ellipsis site, and elided elements can participate in further formal/syntactic operations that occur after ellipsis. In this paper, by using Park’s derivational approach, I argue that the Sluicing-Comp Generalization can be best captured by the Economy Principle. More specifically, when there is more than one possible derivation caused by a head, the Economy Principle rules out less economical derivations, which is distinct from Lasnik’s (1999) analysis using the Economy Principle.

      • Selection of Optimum Spatial Interpolation Method to Complement an Area Missing Precipitation Data of RCP Climate Change Scenario

        Spatial analysis method is one of the most common methods. This research selects an appropriate interpolation method to generate the precipitation data for the grid of mostly urban area missing South Korean detailed precipitation data according to RCP 8.5 scenario provided by Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) and considers the applicability of 1km*1km grid precipitation date to the administrative district of Korea. To generate the precipitation data of missing area, ESRI ArcGIS was used, and an optimum interpolation method will be selected to generate the precipitation data for the missing areas according to the future climate change scenario, the used interpolation method includes Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) method, Ordinary Kriging, Universal Kriging, and Spline methods. The most accurate value was found with the Ordinary Kriging in the calculation of suitable interpolation methods using the precipitation data of August, where the precipitation was the highest in the period of 2015 through 2019 with the RCP 8.5 scenario.

        An English VPE puzzle and a derivational approach to ellipsis

        Even though a lot of researchers have tried to illuminate the exact nature of English VP ellipsis (henceforth VPE), there is no consensus on how sentences with VPE are generated. It seems that the most widely accepted approaches involve the PF deletion approach (Merchant 2001, 2008, 2013; Lasnik 2001, inter alia) and the LF copying approach (Chung et al. 1995; Saito 2007, inter alia). However, in this paper, I point out that these two analyses cannot account for the VPE puzzle presented by Tancredi (1992), which shows that the ellipsis site of VPE cannot contain an in-situ wh-phrase. That is, a wh-element staying in VP cannot be elided alongside VPE. In order to explain this puzzle, I adopt the proposal by Park (2017a, 2017b) that ellipsis is a narrow syntactic operation that occurs during the derivation, rather than a post-syntactic operation occurring at PF, and that what is elided as a result of ellipsis is phonological feature matrices of lexical items inside the ellipsis site. On the basis of this derivational approach to ellipsis, I propose a prosodic requirement that all questions have to obey. This requirement is based on Richards’ (2016) Contiguity, which states that syntax can make reference to particular types of phonological information, and that syntax generates a prosodic representation during the derivation (i.e. as the derivation proceeds) alongside the syntactic representation. I argue that this prosodic constraint can also explain puzzling properties of Dutch Modal Complement Ellipsis, and British English do construction, where the complement of do located in v is elided.

        Standard Error of Empirical Bayes Estimate in NONMEM<SUP>Ⱂ</SUP> VI

        The pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics analysis software NONMEM<sup>Ⱂ</sup> output provides model parameter estimates and associated standard errors. However, the standard error of empirical Bayes estimates of inter-subject variability is not available. A simple and direct method for estimating standard error of the empirical Bayes estimates of inter-subject variability using the NONMEM<sup>Ⱂ</sup> VI internal matrix POSTV is developed and applied to several pharmacokinetic models using intensively or sparsely sampled data for demonstration and to evaluate performance. The computed standard error is in general similar to the results from other post-processing methods and the degree of difference, if any, depends on the employed estimation options.
