      • S-상 심실중격의 임상적 고찰

이동민,장경식,양종태,장대용,김종오,서영욱,고영엽,홍순표 조선대학교 부설 의학연구소 2002 The Medical Journal of Chosun University Vol.27 No.1

Background: The sigmoid septum described an anatomical variation in the contour of the left ventricular outlet. It is related to degenerative change with aging. We observed clinical significance of sigmoid septum in Korean. Methods: Echocardiographic examination was performed in 434 patients. Sigmoid septum is defined as discrete bulging of the proximal interventricular septum with that thickness is greater than 1.3cm or the thickness is grater 1.5 times than adjacent mid interventricular septum in apical 3 chamber view. Result: The incidence of patient with sigmoid septum(septum patient) is 24.8% (male 8.4%, female 16.3%) . The incidence increases with age and is more common in women. The patients with sigmoid septum were compared with targeted groups, there was no significant difference in blood pressure between them, but in height and weight, the former were lower. (p<001, p<03). In the patients with sigmoid septum, weight and the surface area of a body have an opposite correlation with increase of age (p<03, r=-0.34) (p<04, r=-0.31) , but no decrease of height was found according to age increase (p=0.47, r=-0.11) The main reason patients with sigmoid septum ask echocardiolography and its clinical symptoms were abnormal results of previous electrocardiography and/or usual chest pain. Compared with control group, interventricular septal thickness is larger in septum patients (p<001). The thickness of interventricular septum located in subaortic left ventricular outflow tract is 1.6±0.3cm. There is another web like structure that continued from interventricualr septum to anterior free wall of left ventricle and the width is 1.6±0.4cm. A sign of insignificant obstruction due to left ventricular outflow was observed from three sigmoid septum patients. Conculusion: Septum patient is largely found in older age group and the body weight and body surface area are lower than control group. The body weight and body surface area are opposite correlation with age. So sigmoid septum is considered as structural change by weight reduction with aging. It is assumed that septum patients are related with asymptomatic ischemia because they have more abnormal ECG finding such as T wave inversion on precordial leads or standard leads, nonspecific ST-T change, LBBB etc. Sigmoid septum is not only proximal interventricular septal bludging but also another web like structure continuing to anterior wall of left ventricle.

Vol.17 No.-

This study was conducted to develop a simple selection method for herbicide-resistance weeds. Two methods, designated "seedling method" and "stem node method" were employed for screening of barnyardgrass against propanil and butachlor. In the seedling method, shoot and root growth of barnyardgrass were significantly inhibited at quarter of the recommended herbicide rate, while in the stem node method, the similar inhibition was obtained at half of the recommended rate. Thus, it was concluded that the seedling method is more simple and quick method to evaluate response of barnyardgrass to propanil and butachlor compared to stem node method.

      • 자동차 엔진용 플라스틱 실린더 헤드 커버의 설계평가에 관한 연구

        김정엽,이동명,최명진 경희대학교 산학협력기술연구원 1996 산학협력기술연구논문집 Vol.2 No.-

This study pertains to the feasibility of the conversion of an aluminum alloyed automotive engine cylinder head cover into a plastic cylinder head cover. Due to the complexity of the geometry, the finite element analysis is used to evaluate deformations and stresses, an adaptive method is also used to economize the computation. Without modification of the specification of the aluminum alloyed cylinder head cover, there will be no resonance but fracture is anticipated for the plastic cylinder head cover. To maintain the same dimensions, it is proposed to use a material with, at least, ?? Young's modulus.

Inhibitory Effect of Methanol Extract of Magnolia officinalis on Matrix Metalloproteinase-2

        Dong-Yup Lee,Cheorl-Ho Kim,Dong-Soo Kim 한국식품영양과학회 2006 Preventive Nutrition and Food Science Vol.11 No.3

Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) is a key enzyme involved in tumor invasiveness. The plant of Magnolia officinalis Rehd. et Wils. is often included as an ingredient in various herbal remedies recommended for cancer theraphies in Korea. Various extracts prepared from stems of M. officinalis were tested for cytotoxic activity on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line, SK-Hep cells using the XTT assay method. Then, the inhibitory effect was examined on MMP-2 activity using gelatin zymography. Methanol (MeOH) extract of M. officinalis caused the strongest inhibition of the MMP-2 activity, as measured by gelatin zymography method for enzyme activity. IC?? values of fractions on MMP-2 activity were in a range of 4.9~11.3 ㎍/mL. Among each fraction, butanol and ethylacetate (EtOAc) fractions showed the strong inhibitory activities (IC??=10.7 and 4.9 ㎍/mL, respectively). When the M. officinalis’s constituents such as magnolol, honokiol, (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) and ovovatol were examined for inhibitory effects on MMP-2 activity, EGCG showed strong inhibitory activity. However, MeOH extract of M. officinalis was dose-dependently inhibited to MMP-2 activity. The MeOH extract, hexane and EtOAc fractions (IC?? of >200 ㎍/mL) exhibited weak cytotoxicity activity, while butanol (IC??=80 ㎍/mL) and chloroform fractions (IC??=90 ㎍/mL) exhibited relatively strong cytotoxic activity. From these results, M. officinalis could be suitable for cancer treatment and chemopreventive drugs.

Systems-Level Analysis of Genome-Scale In Silico Metabolic Models Using MetaFluxNet

        Lee, Sang-Yup,Woo, Han-Min,Lee, Dong-Yup,Choi, Hyun-Seok,Kim, Tae-Yong,Yun, Hong-Seok The Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengine 2005 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.10 No.5

The systems-level analysis of microbes with myriad of heterologous data generated by omics technologies has been applied to improve our understanding of cellular function and physiology and consequently to enhance production of various bioproducts. At the heart of this revolution resides in silico genome-scale metabolic model, In order to fully exploit the power of genome-scale model, a systematic approach employing user-friendly software is required. Metabolic flux analysis of genome-scale metabolic network is becoming widely employed to quantify the flux distribution and validate model-driven hypotheses. Here we describe the development of an upgraded MetaFluxNet which allows (1) construction of metabolic models connected to metabolic databases, (2) calculation of fluxes by metabolic flux analysis, (3) comparative flux analysis with flux-profile visualization, (4) the use of metabolic flux analysis markup language to enable models to be exchanged efficiently, and (5) the exporting of data from constraints-based flux analysis into various formats. MetaFluxNet also allows cellular physiology to be predicted and strategies for strain improvement to be developed from genome-based information on flux distributions. This integrated software environment promises to enhance our understanding on metabolic network at a whole organism level and to establish novel strategies for improving the properties of organisms for various biotechnological applications.

Ethanolic Extract of Pancake Mixture Powder Supplemented with Helianthus tuberosus Enhances Antidiabetic Effects via Inhibiting Inflammatory Mediator NO Production

        Lee, Kyoung-Dong,Sun, Hyeon-Jin,Lee, Mina,Chun, Jiyeon,Shin, Tai-Sun,Choi, Kap Seong,Shim, Sun-Yup The Korean Society for Microbiology and Biotechnol 2022 한국미생물·생명공학회지 Vol.50 No.2

Helianthus tuberosus is perennial plant as Compositae family and is shown various physiological activities such as analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-spasmodic, aperient, cholagogue, diuretic, spermatogenic, stomachic, and tonic effects. In this study, we investigated the antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory effects of pancake mixture powder (PM) supplemented with H. tuberosus (PMH) in rat skeletal muscle L6 cells and murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells, respectively. PM and PMH inhibited in vitro α-glucosidase activity. Glucose consumption was increased by PM and PMH without cytotoxicity in rat myoblast L6 cells. Western blot analysis revealed that PM and PMH down-regulated glycogen synthase kinase (GSK)-3β activation in L6 cells. PM and PMH inhibited inflammatory mediator, nitric oxide (NO) production without cytotoxicity in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. The anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory effects of PMH was more stronger than those of PM. Anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory effects of PMH would be due to functional characteristics of the supplemented H. tuberosus and the presence of garlic and onion used as ingredients of PM. Taken together, our results that addition of functional materials such as H. tuberosus in product has synergic effects and PMH is potential candidate for treatment of diabetes through inhibiting inflammation.
