A large scale seeding system was stable in terms of techniques but a convenient seeding system of small size was unsettled. This study was performed to develop a semi-automatic seeder for small and medium sized scale farm. To investigate optimum needle diameter and vacuum pressure was used vacuum suction needle seeder. Although the needle diameter according to the kinds of seed was different, the needle diameter for salvia and lettuce seed was suitable for 0.34 mm needle nozzle and 0.4 mm taper nozzle. The prototype consisted a seeding frame attached with needle nozzle, seed hopper, vibrating device, seeding part, vacuum ejector, seed tube etc.. As the result with the experiments, the seeding rate of the seeder was 92% and more at 0.34 mm diameter needle nozzle and 0.4 mm taper nozzle. Eccentric weight for seed hopper vibration was suitable that weight is 11 g and eccentric distance is 0.5 mm. Vibration acceleration of upward direction was 0.363 m/s2. Working capacity of the seeder was possible 160 trays per hour. It was possible for sowing small seeds but it was required to make compact and simple model.
Influence of different cultivation systems on bioactivity of asparagus

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Evaluation of functional and bioactive compounds of <I>Asparagus officinalis</I> L. growing in conventional and organic greenhouse and conventional open – field farming was the aim of this research. Polyphenols in cladodes grown conventionally were higher than organic. Flavonoids and carotenoids were the highest in cladodes in open field. Organic spears were richer in total phenolics (+6.9% and +19.1%) and flavonoids (+4.7% and 16.8%) and showed higher <I>in vitro</I> averages of antioxidant activities by three radical scavenging assays (+12.5% and+ 22.2%) than conventional. Partial differentiation of organically and conventionally grown samples was proved by multivariate statistics. The binding properties of polyphenols to HSA were relatively high in comparison with other plants. A strong positive correlation of binding properties and bioactivity of asparagus was estimated. All new found aspects for the first time lead to recommendation of inclusion of all investigated asparagus plants into the human diet in a wider scale.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Three cultivation growing systems of <I>Asparagus officinalis</I> L. Purpose: To evaluate the clinicopathologic and oncological outcomes of advanced metastatic testicular cancer in Korean men who underwent retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND) following chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: Data of 26 patients with testicular cancer who underwent RPLND after chemotherapy at 2 hospitals in Korea between September 2004 and June 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical and histopathological variables such as stage of the testicular cancer, age of the patients during surgery, size of the retroperitoneal lymph nodes (RPLNs), histopathological results, duration and complications related to the surgery, cancer recurrence, and mortality were analyzed. Results: During testicular surgery, the T stage was pT1, pT2, and pT3 in 50% (n=13), 26.9% (n=7), and 15.3% (n=4) of the patients, respectively. Mixed germ cell tumor was the most common finding, seen in 73.1% (n=19) of patients. The indications for RPLND were residual lymph nodes after chemotherapy, 84.6% (n=22); and disease progression and remission, 7.7% (n=2). Pathological analysis revealed viable tumors in 19.2% of patients (n=5), necrotic/fibrotic tissue in 42.3% (n=11), and teratoma in 34.6% (n=9). Intraoperative and postoperative complications occurred in 23.1% (n=6) and 19.2% of patients (n=5). The median duration of follow-up was 27.5 months (interquartile range, 1.3–108.2 months); 11.5% (n=3) patients had recurrence, and 3.8% (n=1) died of progressive metastatic testicular cancer. Conclusions: Viable germ cell tumors were present in 19.2% of patients with testicular cancer who underwent RPLND after chemotherapy. This is the first study of its kind in the Korean population.

Most esophageal lipomas are discovered incidentally and are small and asymptomatic. However, large (>4 cm) lipomas may cause various symptoms, including dysphagia, regurgitation, or epigastric discomfort. We present a 45-year-old woman with intermittent sudden choking and globus pharyngeus. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound revealed an approximately 10.0×1.5 cm pedunculated subepithelial tumor in the upper esophagus, identified as the cause of her symptoms. A thoracic computed tomography scan revealed a fat attenuated longitudinal mass along the upper esophagus, suggestive of a lipoma. Endoscopic resection of the lesion was performed with a detachable snare to relieve her symptoms, and the pathologic findings were consistent with a lipoma. (Korean J Gastroenterol 2016;68:210-213)

Background/Aims: Presence of enhanced mural nodules, which can be visualized using computed tomography (CT), is one of high-risk stigmata in branch-duct intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (BD-IPMNs). Conversely, the absence of enhanced mural nodules on preoperative imaging does not exclude malignant risk. The present study aimed to investigate other morphological features as predictors of malignancy in “pure” BD-IPMNs without enhanced mural nodules on CT. Methods: This retrospective study included 180 patients with surgically confirmed “pure” BD-IPMNs of the pancreas and no enhanced mural nodules on preoperative CT. The study was conducted at 15 tertiary referral centers throughout South Korea. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify significant predictors of malignancy. Results: BD-IPMNs with low-grade (n=84) or moderate-grade (n=76) dysplasia were classified as benign; those with highgrade dysplasia (n=8) or invasive carcinoma (n=12) were classified as malignant. The multivariate analysis revealed that cyst size ≥30 mm (odds ratio, 8.6; p=0.001) and main pancreatic duct diameter ≥5 mm (odds ratio, 4.1; p=0.01) were independent risk factors for malignancy in “pure” BDIPMNs without enhanced mural nodules on CT. Endoscopic ultrasound detected enhanced mural nodules (6/82) that had been missed on CT, and two IPMNs with enhanced mural nodules were malignant. Conclusions: In patients with “pure” BD-IPMNs who have no enhanced mural nodules on CT, cyst size ≥30 mm and main pancreatic duct diameter ≥5 mm may be associated with malignancy.
