A comparison of electrochromic properties of sol-gel derived amorphous and nanocrystalline tungsten oxide films

        M. Deepa,D.P. Singh,S.M. Shivaprasad,S.A. Agnihotry 한국물리학회 2007 Current Applied Physics Vol.7 No.2

A pristine acetylated peroxotungstate sol with and without 4 wt% of oxalic acid dihydrate (OAD) yielded nanocrystalline and amorphous tungsten oxide (WO3) films respectively by dip coating technique. Contrary to the expected trend, whereby, the nanostructured 4% OAD film with a triclinic modification should have shown superior electrochromic efficiency, its amorphous 0% OAD counterpart exhibits higher optical modulation and coloration efficiency at photopic wavelengths. This anomalous behavior of the amorphous 0% OAD film was correlated to a higher W5+ content in its colored state. The colored nanocrystalline 4% OAD film contained a lower proportion of the W5+ color centers. Under the same level of lithiation, while the 4% OAD film was also constituted by W4+ states, its 0% OAD counterpart did not contain any 4+ states of tungsten. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic (XPS) investigations also confirmed that the single peak at 1.4 eV in the absorption coefficient–wavelength spectrum of the colored 0% OAD film arises from the small polaronic transitions between the W6+ and W5+ states of tungsten whereas the W6+–W5+ and the W5+–W4+ charge transitions produce two distinct peaks at 1.2 and 1.6 eV in the a–k spectrum of the colored 4% OAD film. The microstructure of the 4% OAD film, characterized by an interconnected network of nanocrystallites and pores promotes rapid ion insertion and extraction. Therefore, the larger magnitudes of NIR reflectance modulation, diffusion coefficient for lithium, electrochemical activity and faster color–bleach kinetics observed for the 4% OAD film, are a direct consequence of its structure. Band gap widening upon lithium insertion observed for both films, is a repercussion of Burstein–Moss effect and structural changes that occur upon coloration.

      • Smart Deployment of Sensor Nodes Using SA & GFA

Shailendra Singh,Deepa verma 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.2

In wireless sensor networks, network connectivity problems and sensor coverage are mainly affected by the restricted communication and sensing range of the nodes. To solve all these problems, many studies have been undertaken till now but most of these works is limited to be applied to the real environments because these do not consider various environmental factors that affect wireless sensor network deployment. In this paper, we propose a node deployment strategy that considers environmental factors and the number of nodes for surveillance .Deployment of the sensor nodes, and relay nodes considering all features of the surveillance and reconnaissance sensor networks as well as environmental factors. Smarty deploying the sensor nodes is very important if we are considering the performance of wireless sensor nodes (wsn). This paper focuses on real time deployment of sensor nodes using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Smart deployment has importance in battlefield surveillance, disaster monitoring, environmental and habitat monitoring etc. It plays a very important role mainly in disasters affecting areas like flood affected or fire affected forests for sensing different conditions and physical data out there. The objective of this paper is to deploy sensor nodes smartly only in terrain of interest not in fire or water so that it can conserve environment and can reduce the loss of sensor nodes from being deploy in fire or water. Image segmentation of the images captured by camera situated on a board of UAV.. Comparison of these optimization tools SA and GFA are presented here for different images. Simulation results show that GFA performs better than SA when compared with no. of individuals and SA is faster than GFA.

      • Building Bridges: Eurocentric to Intercultural Information Ethics

Gautam, Ayesha,Singh, Deepa World Association for Triple Helix and Future Stra 2021 Journal of Contemporary Eastern Asia Vol.20 No.1

Misguided use, manipulation, misappropriation, disruption and mismanagement of Information deeply affects the infosphere as well as the social and moral fabric of a society. Information ethics is an attempt to bring the creation, organization, dissemination, and use of information within the ambit of ethical standards and moral codes. The diverse and inherently pluralistic nature of societies however puts forth an additional demand on us - to come up with an intercultural information ethics. An intercultural ethics which is other-centric, context sensitive and workable without being homogenizing, patronizing and colonizing. An endeavor in that direction has already been made by proponents of intercultural information ethics like: Charles M. Ess, Fay Sudweeks, Rafael Capurro, Pak-Hang Wong, Soraj Hongladarom et al. In our paper, we propose that the kind of ethical pluralism being sought in the domain of information ethics can be attained by having a reappraisal of the current methodological strategies, by casting a critical relook at the Eurocentric ethical model. This paper analyses the current framework of Intercultural Information Ethics. And in an endeavour to move towards an all-encompassing, other-centric, workable, intercultural, harmonious and compassionate model of 'Pluralistic Information Ethics', it proposes the Indian / Asian philosophical method of 'Samvāda' to the current inventory which includes methods like: 'parrhesia/free speech' and 'interpretive phronēsis.

      • Energy Efficient Clean and Green IT : Concepts and Approaches

Kartik kalia,Deepa Singh Sisodiya,Dinesh Sharma,Vishok Singh 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.9 No.6

Green IT practice is essential to minimize electricity bill. We have done our analysis on power consumption of computer. We have stated different management policies for reduction in energy consumption. Energy Star (ES) programme of the United States promotes energy efficiency in electronics products that provides an exceptional productivity as compared to the old or traditional systems. Energy Star program has been adopted by many countries to make a move towards Clean and Green environment. ES labels can be easily found on electronic appliances at homes, offices, buildings and many other places. Depending upon the devices, using these policies can result between 30%-90% of less power consumption. In our analysis, we got a reduction of 40% less power consumption in computers after implementing management policies. In this work, we are estimating power bill, and analyzing its economical feasibility along with that we are proposing a plan to reduce power consumption of academia and Institute. We have also discussed about management policies for disposal of e-waste.

Anticonvulsant and neuroprotective effects of methanolic extract of Cinnamomum camphora leaves in rat brain

        Talha Jawaid,Mehnaz Kamal,Richa Singh,Deepa Shukla,Vidya Devanathadesikan,Mukty Sinha 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2018 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.18 No.3

The aim of this study was to investigate the anticonvulsant and neuroprotective eff ects of methanolic extract of Cinnamomum camphora leaves (MECC) in albino wistar rats against maximal electroshock seizure (MES) and seizures induced by pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) models. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and oxidative stress parameters like malondialdehyde (MDA) and reduced glutathione (GSH) were estimated in the brains after completion of the anticonvulsant studies. MECC (50 and 100 mg/kg b.w., p.o. ) exhibited anticonvulsant activity as indicated by signifi cant ( P < 0.05, P < 0.01) reduction in the duration of hind limb tonic extensor phase in MES induced seizure model and signifi cantly ( P < 0.05, P < 0.01) increased the time of onset of clonic convulsion, decreased the duration of seizures, increased the % protection and decreased the percent mortality in a dose dependent manner. MECC (50 and 100 mg/kg b.w., p.o. ) exhibited neuroprotective activity as indicated by signifi cant reduction in MDA levels, AChE activity and increased GSH level also in a dose dependent manner. These results indicate that MECC may exert anticonvulsant and neuroprotective eff ects which may be attributed to the increase in the level of GABA, inhibition of AChE and infl ammation and antioxidant activity in the brain.

However, the full medicinal potential of many seed oil plants is yet to be properly reviewed, particularly for their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. North-East India has rich resources of seed oil plants. The availability of detailed information on these plants is quite limited. This review aims to explore and evaluate these seed oil plants of the North-East India with particular emphasis on their antimicrobial and antioxidant activities as well as chemical compositions. A comprehensive literature search on seed oil plants of this region has been performed. Seed oil yielding plants of this region can be categorized into two categories: plants that are used traditionally as sources of edible or medicinal oils and plants that are used for purposes other than as sources of oils. Many seed oil plants of this region have been reported to possess antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, and to produce various types of compounds. This review also highlights the importance of these plants in contributing to the local as well as the national economy of India.

      • Efficient IP Traffic over Optical Network Based on Wavelength Translation Switching

        Vikas Jha,Kartik Kalia,Bhawani Shankar Chowdhary,D M Akbar Hussain,Deepa Singh 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.7

With the advent of TCP/IP protocol suite the overall era of communication technologies had been redefined. Now, we can’t ignore the presence of huge amount of IP traffic; data, voice or video increasing day by day creating more pressure on existing communicating media and supporting back bone. With the humongous popularity of Internet the overall traffic on Internet has the same story. Focusing on transmission of IP traffic in an optical network with signals remaining in their optical nature generated at particular wavelength, proposed is the switching of optically generated IP packets through optical cross connects based on translation of wavelength when an IP packet is crossing the optical cross connect. Adding the concepts of layer 3 routing protocols along with the wavelength translation scheme, will help in spanning the overall optical network for a larger area.

Comparative analysis of VMT genes/proteins in selected plant species with emphasis on bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

        Sharma Hemant,Shayaba,Kumar Rahul,Kumar Jitendra,Bhadana Deepa,Batra Ritu,Singh Rakhi,Kumar Sachin,Roy Joy K,Balyan Harindra S.,Gupta Pushpendra K. 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.11

Background In recent years, the study of molecular basis of uptake, transport and utilization of grain Fe/Zn (GFe/GZn) in wheat has been an active area of research. As a result, it has been shown that a number of transporters are involved in uptake and transport of Fe. In a recent study, knockout of a transporter gene OsVMT (VACUOLAR MUGINEIC ACID TRANSPORTER) in rice was shown to be involved in Fe homoeostasis. Objective In this study, we analysed VMT genes among six monocots and three dicots with major emphasis on wheat VMT genes (TaVMTs), taking OsVMT gene as a reference. Methods and results Using OsVMT gene as a reference, VMT genes were identified and sequence similarities were examined among six monocots and three dicots. Each VMT protein carried one functional domain and 7 to 10 distinct motifs (including 9 novel motifs). The qRT-PCR analysis showed differential expression by all the six TaVMT genes in pairs of contrasting wheat genotypes with high (FAR4 and WB02) and low (K8027 and HD3226) GFe/GZn at two different grain filling stages (14 DAA and 28 DAA). TaVMT1 genes showed up-regulation in high GFe/Zn genotypes relative to low GFe/Zn genotypes, whereas the TaVMT2 genes showed down-regulation or nonsignificant up-regulation in a few cases. Conclusions At 14 DAA, each of the six TaVMT genes exhibited higher expression in wheat genotypes with high GFe and GZn relative to those with low GFe and GZn, suggesting major role of VMT genes in improvement of grain Fe/Zn homoeostasis, thus making TaVMT genes useful for improvement in Fe/Zn in wheat grains.
