<P>This letter discusses a receiver-side channel estimation algorithm well-suited to turbo equalizers for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. The proposed technique is a Kalman-based channel estimator that runs on parallel single-input single-output (SISO) channels. Soft-decision-feedback interference cancellation is utilized to reduce the MIMO channel estimation problem into multiple SISO channel estimation problems. Unlike existing methods, however, the inherent correlation that exists among the output samples of the successive interference canceller is suppressed via careful puncturing of observation samples. The quality of soft decisions and channel estimates are also continuously monitored and incorporated in the Kalman filter update process.</P>

<P>We consider channel estimation specific to turbo equalization for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication. We develop a soft-decision-driven sequential algorithm geared to the pipelined turbo equalizer architecture operating on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. One interesting feature of the pipelined turbo equalizer is that multiple soft-decisions become available at various processing stages. A tricky issue is that these multiple decisions from different pipeline stages have varying levels of reliability. This paper establishes an effective strategy for the channel estimator to track the target channel, while dealing with observation sets with different qualities. The resulting algorithm is basically a linear sequential estimation algorithm and, as such, is Kalman-based in nature. The main difference here, however, is that the proposed algorithm employs puncturing on observation samples to effectively deal with the inherent correlation among the multiple demapper/decoder module outputs that cannot easily be removed by the traditional innovations approach. The proposed algorithm continuously monitors the quality of the feedback decisions and incorporates it in the channel estimation process. The proposed channel estimation scheme shows clear performance advantages relative to existing channel estimation techniques.</P>

Purpose: This study were investigated the effect of robot-assisted arm therapy on the arm function, gait and lung capacity in stroke patients. Methods: The study participants were selected 20 stroke patients who met the selection criteria. 10 people in the robot-assisted arm therapy group and 10 people in the task-oriented arm therapy group were randomly assigned. The experimental group performed robot-assisted arm therapy and the control group performed task-oriented arm therapy for 6 weeks, 5 days a week, 30 minutes a day. The measurement tools included Fugl-Meyer assessment of upper extremity(FMA-UE) and gait analysis system and spirometry. Data were analyzed using independent sample t-test and the paired sample t-test. Results: The results of comparing Fugl-Meyer assessment of upper extremity (FMA-UE) before and after the intervention within the group, both the experimental group and the control group were a significant difference in upper extremity item score and Fugl-Meyer assessment total score (p<.01), as a result of comparing Fugl-Meyer assessment of upper extremity (FMA-UE) after intervention between the groups, the experimental group were a significant difference only in the upper extremity item score compared to the control group (p<.05). When comparing the gait before and after intervention within the group, both the experimental group and the control group were a significant differences in temporo-spatial variables and 10 m walking (p<.001). When comparing the gait after intervention between the groups, the experimental group were a significant differences in temporo-spatial variables and 10 m walking compared to the control group (p<.05). When comparing the lung capacity before and after the intervention between the groups, the experimental group were a significant difference only in peak expiratory flow (PEF) (p<.05). Conclusion: Through this study it were confirmed that robot-assisted arm therapy applied to stroke patients for 6 weeks significantly improved function of the arm, gait and lung capacity. Based on these results, it is thought that robot-assisted arm therapy can be used as a useful treatment in clinical practice to improve the kinematic variables in chronic stroke patients.

ICT 기술 및 산업발달의 가속화 흐름에 따라 세계적으로 ICT 표준화의 중요성과 수요가 점차 증가하고 있다. 특히 각 나라에서는 표준에 대한 경제성 분석이 활발히 이루어지고 있으며, 한국정보통신기술협회에서는 2015년부터 최근까지 4년간 ICT 표준에 대한 경제적 효과분석 연구가 수행되어 왔다. 본 논문에서는 TTA에서 수행된 ICT 표준화의 경제적 효과분석에 대한 연구들을 살펴보며, ICT 표준화에 대한 객관적 정량분석의 적절한 방법론과 정량분석의 필요성에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.
Matching Pursuit 방식을 이용한 OFDM 시스템의 채널 추정

본 논문에서는 직교 주파수 분할 다중 접속 (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, OFDM) 시스템에서 matching pursuit (MP) 알고리듬을 이용하는 이동 채널 추정법을 제안한다. 기존의 OFDM 시스템에서 채널추정 알고리듬으로 쓰이는 zero-forcing (ZF) 알고리듬은 잡음의 영향으로 채널 추정 오류의 가능성을 가지고 있다. 제안한 알고리듬에서는 MP 알고리듬을 이용하여 스파스(sparse)형태의 채널을 추정함으로써 다중경로가 없다고 가정되는 시간영역의 채널구간에서 발생될 수 있는 잡음에 의한 영향을 줄인다. 또한 연속적으로 전송되는 파일럿 정보를 이용하여 실시간으로 채널의 변화를 추정한다. 제안한 알고리듬으로 채널을 추정하고 등화를 했을 경우 ZF 알고리듬보다 우수한 성능을 보임을 실험에서 확인한다.

Schizandra chinensis Baillon is a traditional folk medicine plant that is used to treat and prevent several inflammatory diseases and cancer in Korea, but the underlying mechanisms involved in its anti-allergic activity are not fully understood. This study was designed to investigate mechanisms of anti-allergic activity of a Schizandra chinensis Baillon water extract (SCWE) in immunoglobulin E (IgE)-antigen complex-stimulated RBL2H3 cells and to assess whether gastric and intestinal digestion affects the anti-allergic properties of SCWE. Oxidative stress is an important consequence of the allergic inflammatory response. The antioxidant activities of SCWE increased in a concentration-dependent manner. RBL-2H3 cells were sensitized with monoclonal anti-dinitrophenol (DNP) specific IgE, treated with SCWE, and challenged with the antigen DNP-human serum albumin. SCWE inhibited β-hexosaminidase release and expression of interleukin (IL)-4, IL-13, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) mRNA and protein in IgE-antigen complex-stimulated RBL2H3 cells. We found that digested SCWE fully maintained its antioxidant activity and anti-allergic activity against the IgE-antigen complex-induced activation of RBL-2H3 cells. SCWE may be useful for preventing allergic diseases, such as asthma. Thus, SCWE could be used as a natural functional ingredient for allergic diseases in the food and/or pharmaceutical industries.
