In this paper, VHF(30~230[MHz]) electromagnetic waves radiated from partial discharge(PD) at two-type electrodes in air are measured and the peculiar patterns of their spectra are reported. Also, the polarization and distance characteristics of electromagnetic wave radiated by PD, were investigated. In case the epoxy insulator in inserted, the noise level of radiated electromagnetic waves is 0.6~6.2[dB] higher than the case in air at below 90[MHz]. The frequency spectrum distribution of radiated electromagnetic waves appears different in the whole frequency range according to the arrangement of antenna.
Equalization of 8-VSB Signals using Complex-Valued Decision Feedback Filter

In this paper, we present an equalization scheme for 8-VSB signals for the ATSC DTV system. We propose a complex feedback filter and complex feedback sample generator for DFE to equalize 8-VSB signals in order to efficiently remove multipath distortions causing leakages from the qudrature component. We show that the proposed structure outperforms the conventional DFE used for the digital VSB which uses a real-valued feedback filter with real-valued decisions.
Symbol Detection Methods for DFEs in Trellis Coded Modulation Systems

이 논문은 Trellis Coded Modulation 시스템에서 궤한 채널 등화기의 성능 향상을 위한 효율적인 심볼 판정 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 심벌 판정기는 Trellis 코드의 구조를 이용하여 심벌 에러율 을 향상시킨다. 예컨대 8-PAM시그널의 경우 20dB SNR에서 기존 강제 심볼 판정기의 에러율 $2.5{\times}10^{-2}$에서 $2{\times}10^{-5}$으로 향상되었다. 이런 판정기의 심벌 에러율 의 개선은 다중경로채널에서의 DFE의 심벌 에러율을 성능을 향상시키는데 본 논문의 시뮬레이션 결과 심벌 에러율 0.26에서 0.01 과 0.005 으로 개선되었음을 확인하였다. In this paper, we present symbol detection methods for decision feedback equalizers (DFE) in trellis coded modulation systems. The proposed symbol detectors improve symbol error rate (SER) by exploiting the coding structure of trellis coded modulation (TCM). For example, for 8-PAM signals the achieved SER with the proposed detection scheme is improved to $2{\times}10^{-5}$ from $2.5{\times}10^{-2}$ of the conventional symbol-by-symbol detector under AWGN channel at 20dB SNR. This SER improvements mitigate error propagation of DFE.and produces significant over-all SER improvement for under multipath channels (for example, from 0.26 to 0.01 and 0.005 under a severe multipath channel 20dB SNR as shown in the simulation result of this paper).
Run and Go Algorithm for Blind Equalization

이 논문은 high order statistics 에 기반을 둔 자력복구 알고리듬과 판정-LMS 를 조합하는 자력복구 적응 채널등화기를 제안한다. 저 신뢰도 신호에 대하여 적응을 멈추는 기존의 "Stop-and-Go" 알고리듬과는 달리 제안된 알고리듬은 저 신뢰도 신호에 대하여 자력복구 알고리듬 적응을 이용하기에 "Run-and-Go"라고 명명하였으며 판정-LMS의 최소 MSE 성능과 자력복구 알고리듬의 신호 획득능력의 시너지 효과를 가진다. 제안된 알고리듬은 신뢰도 구간을 신호의 질에 따라 자동설정 함으로 수렴 속도와 신호 획득 능력을 각각 개선한다. In this paper, we propose an adaptation strategy for blind equalizers, which combines a blind algorithm based on high order statistics and the decision directed LMS algorithm. In contrast to 'Stop-and-Go' algorithm, where adaptation is stopped for unreliable signals, the proposed algorithm applies high order statistics (HOS) blind algorithm to the unreliable signals and applies DD-LMS for the reliable signals. The proposed algorithm, named 'Run-and-Go' algorithm, inherits minimum MSE performance of DD-LMS and acquisition ability of blind algorithms. Furthermore, by updating the reliable signal region according to signal quality in each iteration, the convergence speed and acquisition ability is further improved.
Complex Infinite Impulse Response Filter Equalization for Digital Vestigial Side Band Signals

In this paper, we propose a complex-valued IIR filter for digital VSB signals based on CMA in order to efficiently mitigate multipath distortions, especially the leakage from the quadrature component. The proposed equalizer overcomes the drawback of the conventional real-valued IIR equalizers that it attempts to equalize Hilbert transform of quadrature component. We demonstrate via simulation that the proposed complex IIR filter successfully mitigates the leakages from the quadrature component, while the conventional real IIR filter requires a longer IIR filter to achieve the same performance. We present cost function analysis for a simple two-tap case showing that the proposed IIR equalizer with CMA for VSB signals has a global minimum at the desired location.

Objectives: This investigation is purposed to evaluate the airborne asbestos concentrations in the public buildings having asbestos containing materials(ACMs) in Seoul. Methods: The Seoul Metropolitan Government carried out an asbestos survey to the city-owned public buildings to identify the level of risk exposure, classified into low, moderate and high risk. To evaluate the airborne concentration of asbestos, 11 sampling sites in ten buildings based on the survey were selected. The air samples from the eleven sites were analyzed by Phase Contrast Microscopy(PCM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and compared the analytical results from the both. Results: 1. The airborne fiber concentrations by PCM were less than the detection limit(7 f/mm2) in 9(82%) out of 11 sampling sites. The highest concentration was 0.0043 f/cc, but it was below the guideline value for indoor air quality(0.01 f/cc), proposed by the Ministry of Environment, Korea. 2. In two sampling sites, having moderate risk level, the chrysotile was identified and showed it`s concentrations of 0.0102 s/cc and 0.0058 s/cc, less than 5 μm lengths. 3. The ACMs identified in the two sampling sites were a packing material(65% of chrysotile) in mechanical area and a thermal system insulation(5% of chrysotile) in a boiler room. Having more possibility of asbestos emission in the mechanical area, it would be required to set up and carry out the asbestos management plan. Conclusions: Based on the result of this study, the airborne asbestos concentrations in the public buildings with ACMs were generally lower than the guideline value for indoor air quality. There are widespread concerns about the possible health risk resulting from the presence of airborne asbestos fibers in the public buildings. Most of the previous studies about airborne asbestos analysis in Korea were performed based on PCM method that asbestos and non-asbestos fibers are counted together. In the public and commercial buildings, having ACMs, it is suggested that the asbestos be analyzed by TEM method to identify asbestos due to concerns about asbestos exposure to workers and unspecified people.

Podostroma cornu-damae is a rare species of fungus belonging to the Hyocreaceae family. Its fruit body is highly toxic, as it contains trichothecene mycotoxins. The morphology is similar to that of immature Ganoderma lucidum, making identification difficult for non-experts. We experienced such a case of a 56- year-old male who picked and consumed podostroma cornu-damae, and consumed. Later that day, he developed digestive system symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. He presented to the emergency room (ER), there were no abnormal physical findings, symptoms improved after gastric lavage, and the patient voluntarily discharged himself on the same day. The following day, as the symptoms gradually deteriorated, he was admitted via the ER. He was presented with severe pancytopenia, alopecia, desquamation of skin, and acute renal failure. He recovered without any complications after conservative care, antibiotics therapy, and granulocyte colony stimulating factor administration. The most commonly reported complications of podostroma cornu-damae intoxication were reported pancytopenia, infection, disseminated intravascular coagulation, acute renal failure, etc. since Prevention is especially important because its toxicity can be lethal and there is no particular treatment to date, prevention is especially important. Promotion and education for the public are needed.

장대레일 궤도 구조는 사용성 및 유지보수 측면에 장점이 있어 최근 일반적으로 사용되고 있다. 그러나 궤도와 교량의 상호작용에 의한 장대레일의 좌굴 및 파단 등의 안정성 문제가 발생되고, 따라서 국내외 설계 기준에서는 부가축력과 변위에 대한 제반 규정 및 해석절차를 제시하고 있다. 하지만 하중분리해석은 하중 재하 단계에 따른 종방향 저항력의 변화를 고려하지 못하며 또한 비선형 거동을 보이는 궤도에 중첩의 원리를 허용함에 따라 과다한 레일 응력이 산출되어 비경제적 설계를 하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Abaqus Model Change 기법을 통한 하중 단계별 종방향 저항력 변화 및 궤도의 비선형성을 고려하는 완전한 해석을 성공적으로 수행하였다. The Continuous Welded Rail (CWR) is being used commonly these days for it’s strength of usability and maintenance. But by the interaction of track-bridge some stability problem such as buckling or fracture occurs on CWR so that domestic and international design criteria shows the regulation and analysis procedure of the additional stress and displacement. However simplified separate analysis method didn’t consider the changes of longitudinal resistance of track according to the load case and allowed the principle of superposition on the track that shows nonlinearity. That produces excessive rail stress and make the design uneconomical. So in this paper, complete analysis that considered the changes of longitudinal resistance and nonlinearity of track using ABAQUS Model Change techniqeu had been successfully implemented.
양방향 결정 궤환 동화기를 이용한 MLSD 등화기의 간소화

이 논문은 양방향 결정 궤환 동화기에 바탕을 둔 단순화된 바이너리 MLSD 등화기를 제안한다. 시간의 순방향과 역방향의 다중성을 동시에 이용한 양방향 궤환 등화기는 한 입력 심벌당 두 개의 추정 심벌을 제시하는데 이 두 개의 추정심벌중 최적의 심벌을 추론하는 방법으로 우리는 MLSD 방법을 이용하였다. 여기서 MLSD 알고리즘은 두 개의 추정 심벌이 서로 다를 때만 적용이 되므로 제안된 알고리즘의 복잡성은 일반적인 바이너리 시그날에 대한 복잡성보다 현저히 줄어든다. 결과적으로 시그널 사이즈에 상관없이 제안된 알고리즘은 MLSD의 복잡성을 바이너리 시그널보다 낮추게 된다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 알고리즘은 기존의 양방향 DFE에 기반을 등화알고리즘보다 향상된 성능을 가짐을 보였다.
