Genetic Algorithm for Shortest Driving Time in Intelligent Transportation Systems
Chu-Hsing Lin,Jung-Chun Liu,Chia-Han Ho,Jui-Ling Yu,Wei-Shen Lai 보안공학연구지원센터 2009 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.2 No.1
The route guidance system, which provides driving advice based on traffic information about an origin and a destination, has become very popular along with the advancement of handheld devices and the global position system. Since the accuracy and efficiency of route guidance depend on the accuracy of the traffic conditions, the route guidance system needs to include more variables in calculation, such as real time traffic flows and allowable vehicle speeds. As variables considered by the route guidance system increase, the cost to compute multiplies. Since handheld devices have limited resources, it is not feasible to use them to compute the exact optimal solutions in real time systems by some well-known algorithm, such as the Dijkstra’s algorithm, which is usually used to find the shortest path with a map of reasonable numbers of vertices. To solve this problem, we propose to use the genetic algorithm to alleviate the rising computational cost. We use the genetic algorithm to find the shortest time in driving with diverse scenarios of real traffic conditions and varying vehicle speeds. The effectiveness of the genetic algorithm is clearly demonstrated when applied on a real map of modern city with very large vertex numbers.
Mitigation the Impact and Survive from Extreme Drought of Climate Change and Global Warming

Tap Water is the lifeline of human existence. Due to the effect of the Climate Change, the world has experienced an uneven distribution of rainfall in recent years, cause of floods or droughts. A series drought broke out in Taipei city gave chance to protect our county and test our reliabilities to citizen. This developments but has also realize the agricultural water should cooperate effectively shift dial [2], active water conservation ordinance relaxed, provide valuable water resources. Water utilities in response to the challenges of extreme drought, should face the New thinking that the difference between the price of water upon request, considering distinguish the dry season and the rainy season in different water, and the water does not hike the basic livelihood of the people; to consider the idea of building “Our sponge cities sponge Taiwan”; avoid low tariff wasted water, or the use of reasonable price adjustments after yearly, water problems can be solved in Taipei area; contributed to the dry season to strengthen water conservation and carbon reduction to achieve the effect or open consumptive water use of large household[2] and strengthen told: the key to sustainable development of water resources, “NO WATER NO FUTURE”.
Dynamic Models and Design of Spindle-Bearing Systems of Machine Tools: A Review
Chi-Wei Lin,Chih-Hsing Chu,Yang-Kuei Lin 한국정밀공학회 2013 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.
Machine tools are vital to modern industries. The performance of a machine tool is assessed according to the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of the machined work-pieces, which are closely related to the dynamic characteristics of the spindle-bearing system. The main purpose of this study is to review relevant studies on dynamic models and the design of spindle-bearing systems of machine tools. These studies related to dynamic models are categorized into two types according to the physical components: spindle shafts and bearings. The dynamic models in each category are comprehensively discussed and coordinated. Guidelines condensed from the sampled papers are provided, followed by an exploration of design-related papers. Finally, a conclusion on the analyzed works is drawn and future lines of research are identified.

The Green Mark eco-label constitutes an essential program introduced by Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration to support environmental protection. In the manufacturing industry, the Green Mark eco-label is intended to enable differentiating between manufacturers that apply green processes and those that do not. This paper presents an assessment model for identifying manufacturers’ initial intention to apply the Green Mark eco-label. The model was derived from the certification process flow. A total of 200 structured questionnaires were distributed to manufacturers in Taiwan, and 172 responses were retrieved. The model was analyzed by applying structural equation modeling, and the correlation of review process and end certification process exhibited the strongest correlation. Improving the document verification stage is highly likely to increase the overall initial intention ofmanufacturers to participate in the Green Mark eco-label program. The overall certification process contributed 16% to the total initial intention of manufacturers to apply the Green Mark eco-label to their products.
Using Adaptive Bandwidth Allocation Approach to Defend DDoS Attacks
Wei-Shen Lai,Chu-Hsing Lin,Jung-Chun Liu,Hsun-Chi Huang,Tsung-Che Yang 보안공학연구지원센터 2008 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.2 No.4
Denial of service attacks occur when the attacks are from a single host, whereas distributed denial of service attacks occur when multiple affected systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system. Although it is not possible to exempt entirely from denial of service or distributed denial of service attacks, we can limit the malicious user by controlling the traffic flow. In the paper, we propose to monitor the traffic pattern in order to alleviate distributed denial of service attacks. A bandwidth allocation policy will be adopted to assign normal users to a high priority queue and suspected attackers to a low priority queue. Simulations conducted in network simulator of our proposed priority queue-based scheme shows its effectiveness in blocking attacking traffic while maintaining constant flows for legitimate traffic.
A Conference Key Distribution Scheme Using Interpolating Polynomials
Chin-Chen Chang,Chu-Hsing Lin,Chien-Yuan Chen 보안공학연구지원센터 2007 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.1 No.2
Conference keys are secret keys used by a group of users commonly and with which they can encipher (or decipher) messages such that communications are secure. Based on the Diffie and Hellman’s PKDS, a conference key distribution scheme is presented in this paper. A sealed lock is used to lock the conference key in such a way that only the private keys of the invited members are matched. Then the sealed lock is thus made public or distributed to all the users, only legitimate users can disclose it and obtain the conference key. In our scheme, the construction of a sealed lock is simple and the revelation of a conference key is efficient
