      • 간경변증 환자에서 Vibrio cholera non-01, non-0139에 의한 균혈증

        We report a case of Vibrio cholerae septicemia in a 64-year-old male patient with liver cirrhosis who complained of fever, diarrhea, and abdominal pain upon admission. The day before the onset of symptoms, he had had seafood. His blood culture was positive for a non-cholera toxin-producing non-O1, non-O139 V. cholerae. The organism was not cultured in the patient's stool specimen, probably because of the empiric antibiotics treatment before blood collection. He recovered by antibiotics, cefotaxime and ciprofloxacin.

        (-)-(IR, 2R)-trans-menthyl-2-phenylcyclopropanecarboxylate has been synthesized with aid of chiral Cu(Ⅱ) complex catalyst by the addition reaction of menthyldiazoacetate to the styrene. The yield was 80%, the purity of trans-compound over 90% and optical purity 75%. These results show the possibility of synthesis of (-)-(IR, 2R)-trans-2-phenylcyclopropane-carboxylic acid with high purities of optical activity and geometric specificity.

        Castor oil is dehydrated by heating at 240℃ under a pressure of 20mmHg with NaHSO₄ and NaHS0₃ as catalysts, and the dehydrated castor oil is combined with maleic anhydride as much as 9% while avoiding gel formation. By this result, oil's drying properties are somewhat lowered in proportion to the amount of combined maleic anhydride. However, after neutralizing the free acid radicals introduced to fatty acid. it readily emulsifies in water and it's dried coating shows better resistance against water. acid and alkalie.

        동물의 장에서 분리한 Enterococcus sp.의 특성 및 분말화

        의약품 및 동물약품으로 사용되고 있는 분말유산균을 개발하고자 동물의 장에서 산성 pH 및 담즙산에 대한 내성이 강하고 대장균 생육억제력이 좋은 Enterococcus faecium L20을 분리 동정하고 이를 이용하여 고농도의 생균이 함유된 분말 유산균을 제조하였다. 분리된 균주는 pH 3.0에서 90% 이상의 내성과 0.3% 담즙산이 함유된 배지에서 100%의 내성을 나타냈으며 MRS 배지에서 대장균과 혼합배양시 24시간 이내에 대장균을 사멸시켰다. 분리된 균주를 산업용배지에서 배양한 후 동결건조시켜 분말을 만들었을 때 생균수는 5.0×0^11/g 이상이었다. 이것은 18℃에 보관하였을 경우 11개월 동안 80%의 생존율을 나타내었다. In order to develop a lactic acid bacterial powder which can be used as a probiotic for human and animal, a lactic acid bacteria which has high resistance against low pH and ox-gall, and shows a good growth inhibition against low pH and ox-gall, and shows a good growth inhibition against E. coli, was isolated from an animal intestine and characterized. The isolated strain was identified as Enterococcus faecium. It had more than 90% of survival at low pH for 2 hours and almost 100% of survival in the presence of 0.3% ox-gall. When co-cultured with E. coli in MRS broth, all of the E. coli cells were killed within 24 hours. The final powdered product of the isolated strain was manufactured after a freeze drying process suing an industrial media, and then checked its stability. Its storage stability was 80% for 11 months at 18℃.

      • Propylthiouracil에 의한 중증 급성간염 1예

        PTU에 의한 간염의 발생은 매우 드물게 발생하는 것으로 알려져 있으나 저자들은 Graves씨 병으로 진단 받고 propylthiouracil 투여를 받고있던 환자에서 중증의 급성 간염이 발생한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. Propylthiouracil is widely used to treat patients with hyperthyroidism. This drug has been associated with severe hepatotoxicity rarely. We presented the case of jaundice and profound liver dysfunction from a 23-year old woman treated with propylthiouracil for hyperthyroidism. Viral, metabolic, and autoimmune liver disease could be excluded and liver biopsy revealed a pattern of acute hepatitis. After discontinuing the drug, there was a progressive resolution of hepatic symptoms and decrease in biochemical data of the liver. Despite propylthiouracil induced hepatitis in rare case, patients receiving propylthiouracil are exposed to develope severe hepatotoxicity. Therefore it might be advisable to monitor level of the transaminase on regular base from patients receiving propylthiouracil.

      • 꾸지뽕나무의 揷木時期, 床土 및 發根劑가 揷木繁殖에 미치는 影響

        This study was carried out to develop mass propagation techniques by cutting seedling of Cudrania tricuspidata which is a promising species as a medicinal herbs and a health food trees. Rooting and, mortality rates (percentage of dead cutting) and the number of roots were measured by cutting times, using various growth media and the digesting times of growth hormone. 1. Rooting rates by cutting times were higher in March cutting (64.5%) than in July cutting (55.3%). The highest rooting rates were observed in March cutting (68.5%) with the growth media of peatmoss + perlite. The rooting rates by the digesting times of growth hormone were the highest (87.5%) in 30 hours at IBA 100ppm among the treatments. 2. Callus formation from cutting roots was not related to cutting times and digesting time of growth hormone, but related to growth media. 3. Mortality rates was related to cutting time and digesting time at IBA 100ppm. 4. Number of roots were about 16 and not related to cutting times, growth media and the digesting time of growth hormone. In conclusion, the best techniques for cutting propagations of Cudrania tricuspidata were observed in March cutting (rooting rates : 87.5%) in the growth media of peatmoss + perlite with 30 hours digesting times at IBA 100ppm.

      • SS41村 熔接部의 疲勞龜裂傳播에 미치는 殘留應力의 影響

        In this study submerged arc welded the welding structural steel(SS41) was selected as an application model. On condition that stress ratios were 0.5, 0.3, 0.05, the relaxation of the residual stress was measured according to the number of repeated cycles, and the experimental values were compared with the values expected by the superposition of residual stress relaxation. The result are summarized as follows : 1. Welding residual stress is conspicuously reduced depend on the increase of repeated cycles, that is, the effect of welding residual stress on the crack propagation is gradually reduced with the increase of repeated cycles. 2. The error bet ween the experimental values and expected values which are considered only initial residual stress can be reduced by consideration of residual stress relaxation according to repeated cycles. The expected values depend on this method agree to experimental results of fatigue fracture behavior. 3. In case of welded metal, unlike base metal, rate of initial crack ropagation don't show up large difference because the difference of effective stress ratio(Reff) is decreased very much by addition to tensile residual stress.
