<P>International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) is developing the standard intersystem VTS exchange format (IVEF) protocol for exchange of navigation and vessel information between VTS systems and between VTS and vessels. VTS (vessel traffic system) is an important marine traffic monitoring system which is designed to improve the safety and efficiency of navigation and the protection of the marine environment. And the demand of Inter-VTS networking has been increased for realization of e-Navigation as shore side collaboration for maritime safety. And IVEF (inter-VTS data exchange format) for inter-VTS network has become a hot research topic of VTS system. Currently, the IVEF developed by the International Association of Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) does not include any highly trusted certification technology for the connectors. The output of standardization is distributed as the IALA recommendation V-145, and the protocol is implemented with an open source. The IVEF open source, however, is the code used to check the functions of standard protocols. It is too slow to be used in the field and requires a large memory. And the vessel traffic information requires high security since it is highly protected by the countries. Therefore, this paper suggests the authentication protocol to increase the security of the VTS systems using the main certification server and IVEF.</P>

One dimensional performance model has been used for the design of torque converter. The model is based on the concept of constant mean flow path and constant flow angle. These constant-assumed parameters make the design procedure to be simple. The constant mean flow path has two conditions that one of them is the path of assumed mean effective flow satisfied with a half of fluid flow area and the other things is the design path crossed each element line orthogonally. But these conditions cannot be satisfied in practice, so it makes a error between the prediction of one dimensional performance model and the result of test. In this study, the new approaching method of one dimensional performance model is presented to reduce the error. This method defines the concept of new line distinguished with element line and assumes the equivalent blade angle.

<P>A novel UHF band RFID tag antenna, which can be effectively mounted on metallic objects, is presented. Using the inductively coupled feeding technique, the proposed antenna consists of two symmetric shorted radiating elements and feeding loop. The feeding loop is excited so that the currents on the radiating elements are out of phase with the equal amplitude. The proposed tag antenna gives smaller variation of the antenna performance than that of conventional tag antennas when the tag is mounted on the various sizes of the metallic objects. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. During driving driver’s drowsiness can cause is one of reasons of vehicle accidents. Many researches have been done to prevent accidents due to drowsy driving. In this study, data collected from biological signal sensors mounted on the steering wheel, was performed and measured signal which is filtered and processed by the correlation analysis. Based on above analysis which sensor would be used is determined by reliability at the sensor. These results can be utilized to develop drowsiness prevention algorithm.

In order to maximize the safety and convenience of the occupants in the automobile field in recent research and development of intelligent systems are actively conducted. In addition, the importance of pedestrian safety is increasing more and more. In recent years, the issue of pedestrian safety is emerging worldwide for decreasing the pedestrian injury and the established safety standards have been made in order to reduce the damage of the pedestrian. In Korea, automotive industries are committed to technology development of the active hood system to satisfy safety standards, but the development effort of parts manufacturers is insufficient. Therefore, it is expected that the core technology of the active hood system by developing a pedestrian discrimination algorithm.
