Streptococcus mutans의 우식 활성에 미치는 Propolis의 효과

Propolis, a natural resinous product collected by honey bees, is known to exhibit various biological activities including anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor activities. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of ethanol extracted propolis(EEP) on the growth, glucosyltransferase(GTase) activity, and adherence to the saliva-coated hydroxyapatite(S-HA) beads of Streptococcus mutans JC-2(serotype c), S.mutans LMM-7(serotype e), and S. mutans OMZ-175(serotype f) in vitro. We found that the EEP had minimal inhibitory concentrations of 500-1000㎍/㎖ against S.mutans strains when these strains were cultured for 48 hours, and inhibited both water-insoluble and water-soluble glucan synthesizing GTase activities of S. mutans strains to the 93-100% at the concentration of 1600㎍/㎖, and also we found that the EEP inhibited the adherence of S. mutans strains to S-HA beads to the 76-96% at the concentrations of 200㎍/㎖. These results indicate that EEP has anti-cariogenic activity in vitro.
한국산 거북복과 (Ostraciidae) 어류 1미기록종, Lactoria diaphana

복어목, 거복복과에 속하는 Lactoria diaphana (표준체장 208.0 mm) 1개체가 2011년 11월 14일에 제주도 성산읍 연안에서 채집되었다. 이 종은 눈의 앞부분에 전방으로 1쌍의 가시가 돌출되었으며, 등의 융기부 중앙에는 약간 휘어진 가시가 있고, 꼬리지느러미 아래쪽의 배쪽 융기선으로부터 후방으로 1쌍의 가시를 가지며 몸통에는 검은 반점들이 분포하고 있다. 이 미기록종의 한국명을 “소뿔복”으로 명명하였다. This is the first report of Lactoria diaphana (Tetraodontiformes: Ostraciide) from Korea. A single specimen (208.0 mm standard length) was collected off the coast of Jejudo Island by gill net on 14 November, 2011. This species is characterized by having a pair of strong spines in front of the eyes, a slightly curved spine on the dorsal ridge, a pair of strong and short spines on the ventro-lateral ridge and various-sized spots on the body. We add L. diaphana to the Korean fish fauna and propose a new Korean name, “So-ppul-bok” for the species.
한국산 색가오리과 (Dasyatidae) 어류 1미기록종, Pteroplatytrygon violacea

매가오리목, 색가오리과에 속하는 Pteroplatytrygon violacea 1개체 (전장 1,058 mm)가 2017년 7월 6일 제주도 북서쪽 연안에서 처음으로 유자망에 의해 채집되었다. 이 종은 넓은 주둥이를 갖는 점, 5쌍의 아가미구멍이 있는 점, 꼬리에 1개의 가시가 있는 점, 꼬리의 배쪽에 있는 피습이 꼬리끝까지 이르지 않는 점, 꼬리의 등쪽에는 피습이 없는 점, 그리고 배의 표면은 전체적으로 어두운 자주색을 띠는 것이 특징이다. 이러한 형태적 특징에 따라서 이 종을 P. violacea로 동정하였으며, 표본의 COI 유전자 염기서열을 이용하여 종동정을 확인하였다. 이 미기록종은 배 표면의 체색으로 인해 기존에 붙여진 이름에 따라 종명과 속명을 각각 “보라색가오리”와 “보라색가오리속”으로 제안한다. A single specimen (1,058 mm TL) of Pteroplatytrygon violacea, belonging to the family Dasyatidae, was firstly collected by using drift gill net in the north-western coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Korea on 6 July, 2017. This species was characterized by having a broadly rounded snout, five pairs of gill openings, tail with a large spine, ventral tail fold not reaching to the tip of tail, no dorsal fold, and ventral surface of disc dark purple. Based on such morphological characters, the specimen was identified as P. violacea and confirmed with the nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene. We added P. violacea to the Korean fish fauna and propose the new Korean names, “Bo-ra-saek-ga-o-ri-sok” and “Bo-ra-saek-ga-o-ri” for the genus and species, respectively.

매가오리목, 긴꼬리흰가오리과 (신칭)에 속하는 Plesiobatis daviesi 1개체 (체반장 700 mm)가 2010년 10월 11일 제주도 동북쪽 연안 (해구번호 110)에서 저인망에 처음으로 채집되었다. 이 종은 5쌍의 아가미 구멍이 있는 점, 꼬리에 1~3개의 가시가 있는 점, 주둥이가 긴 점, 꼬리지느러미가 긴 점, 그리고 코 끝에 커튼 모양의 주름이 있는 점이 특징이다. 그리고 형태적으로 흰가오리와 유사하지만, 흰가오리보다 꼬리지느러미 길이와 주둥이 길이가 상대적으로 긴 특징을 갖는다. 이 미기록종의 과명과 속명 그리고 종명은 "긴꼬리흰가오리과", "긴꼬리흰가오리속" 그리고 "긴꼬리흰가오리"로 각각 제안한다. A single specimen (700 mm in disc length) of Plesiobatis daviesi, belonging to the family Plesiobatididae, was firstly collected in the north-eastern coastal waters of Jejudo Island, Korea by using a bottom trawl on 24 October 2010. This species was characterized by having five pairs of gill openings, tail with one to three large spines, long snout length, long caudal fin, and pleated margin of nasal curtain. It is morphologically similar to Urolophus aurantiacus, but the former is distinguished from the latter by having longer caudal fin and snout length. We add P. daviesi to the Korean fish fauna and suggest the new Korean names, "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri-gwa", "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri-sok" and "Gin-kko-ri-huin-ga-o-ri" for the family, genus and species, respectively.

최근 코로나19로 세계 경제는 침체해 있으며, 우리나라 경제에 미치는 파급도 심각한 어려움에 직면해 있다. 코로나19 장기화에 따른 기업의 구조조정을 최소화하고 기술창업을 통한 양질의 일자리 창출로 지역경제를 살리는 것이 급선무가 되었다. 이에 한국의 대표적인 창업지원 전문기관인 창업보육센터의 현황 및 성과를 되돌아보며 새로운 변화와 도약을 위한 창업보육센터 활성화 방안을 제안하고자 한다. 창업보육센터는 중소기업 창업지원법 제6조에 명시되어 있으며, IMF 외환위기 극복을 위해 1988년부터 정부 주도에 의한 벤처기업 육성정책의 일환으로 시작되었다. 2019년말 기준으로 전국에 260개 창업보육센터가 중소벤처기업부의 지정을 받아 운영하고 있으며, 6,151개의 입주기업이 2.1조원의 매출과 2.1만명의 고용을 창출하고 있다. 이는 3년 이내의 창업기업이 창출한 성과로 정부의 타사업보다 탁월한 성과를 창출하였지만, 급변하는 글로벌 창업환경에 대한 대응이나 창업보육센터 자립을 위한 자구노력이 부족하여 대・내외적으로 질타를 받고 있다. 코로나19를 계기로 창업보육센터의 문제점을 보완하고, 혁신과 변화 그리고 실천을 거듭하여 옛 명성을 되찾기를 바란다. 이를 위해 ①창업보육센터 운영의 자율성 확대, ②창업기업 중심의 지원정책, ③일관되고 지속적인 지원정책, ④대·내외 창업지원 기관간 연계를 강화해야 한다. Recently the world economy has been depressed owing to the COVID 19, and this has also influenced the economy of Korea to be confronted with great difficulty. So it became the urgent priority to minimize the restrucuring of businesses which are resulted from the extended affect of COVID 19 and to activate local economy by creating decent jobs through technology startups. Here I would like to propose the way to vitalize business incubation centers for new changes and leaping by reviewing the status and outcomes of Business Incubation Center, an outstanding business startup supporting institute in Korea. Business Incubation Center, specified by the Article 6 of Support for Small and Medium Enterprise Establishment Act, was begun as one of venture business supporting policies lead by the Central Government in 1988 to overcome the IMF financial crisis. Of the end of December, 2019, they operate 260 business incubation centers around the nation which are appointed by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, where 6,151 businesses made 2.1 trillion KRW and created jobs for 21,000 employees. Though the results, made just within 3 years of startups, were superior to the other projects of the Government, the Business Incubation Center has been denounced from both inside and outside the organization for the shortage of coping with the rapidly changing global environments for startups or the shortage of effort to be independent. With COVID 19 as a momentum, I hope Business Incubation Center to regain its old reputation through the compensation of the defects, innovation, changes and action. To make it, there mus be ① the expansion of center’s operational independence, ② startup-centered supporting policies, ③ consistant and continuous supporting policies, and ④ the enhanced relationshipbetween internal and external startup supporting institutes.
L-carnitine supplementation improves the cryosurvival and subsequent development of bovine embryos

Cryopreservation of bovine embryos is used to efficiently implant surrogate mothers. It has been widely accepted that high lipid content in the oocyte interrupts its survival during freeze-thaw cycles. Serum component in the culture medium is thought to increase the embryo`s lipid contents. Conversely, L-carnitine stimulates lipid metabolism by transporting long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria. Objective of this study was to analyze the effect of L-carnitine supplementation in IVM medium and defined IVC medium on the development, lipid contents and the cryosurvival of bovine IVF embryos. 0.0, 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0 mM L-carnitine was supplemented in IVM medium, respectively (IVM-LC 0.0, LC 1.5, LC 3.0 and LC 6.0). Development rate from the 2cell to the morula stages was higher in IVM-LC 3.0 groups than those of IVM-LC 6.0 (p<0.05). But there were no significant differences among the other groups in the blastocyst rates and lipid content results. When 0.0, 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0 mM L-carnitine were supplemented in IVC medium (IVC-LC 0.0, LC 1.5, LC 3.0 and LC 6.0), development competence was not significantly different between those embryos. Lipid contents of embryos treated L-carnitine (IVC-LC 1.5, 3.0 and 6.0) were significantly lower than embryos of non-treated group. L-carnitine was supplemented 0.0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0 mM during IVM and 3.0 mM during IVC (LC 0.0 - 3.0, LC 1.5 – 3.0, LC 3.0 – 3.0, LC 6.0 – 3.0) and cryosurvival of blastocysts confirmed after freezing-thawing. There were no significant differences on development, but LC 3.0 – 3.0 was significantly lower lipid contents than other groups. And LC 3.0 – 3.0 had better survival rates and hatched rates of blastocysts than LC 0.0 – 0.0. In conclusion, supplementation of L-carnitine in defined IVC medium decreases lipid contents. And L-carnitine supplementation improves cryosurvival and developmental ability of bovine IVF embryos.
