Great lateral forces arise commonly on retaining wall, piers and bulwark in harbours, bridge abutments and tower structure. Earth pressure dynamic forces(impact of ships), or wind pressure may be named as typical causes for these forces. This paper based on a series of model tests was performed to proposal the decision method of a allow lateral resistance of single pile under lateral load. Model tests were performed in changing of relative density. The model piles were made of copper tube, and the homogeneous model grounds were used air-dried fine sand enough to get through t.4 sieve. A summary test results were analyzed through the experiment as follows. The allow lateral resistance of the proposal method was larger than existing method as safety factor was applied two, that of the existing method was larger than proposal method as safety factor was applied three. But The allow lateral resistance was same to proposal method and existing method as safety factor was applied 2.5.

Human GH (hGH) has been available over 40 years for the treatment of children with GH deficiency. Human growth hormone (hGH) is mainly produced in the somatotrophic cells of the pituitary in brain and is the product of the GH-N gene. Among the edible mushrooms, the king oyster mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii ) is one of the most popular mushrooms in Asia, Europe and North America. The increasing popularity of P. eryngii among consumers is due to its flavor, texture and shelf life. We report a modified Agrobacteriummediated method for the efficient transformation of hGH2 in Pleurotus eryngii . The binary vector pCAMBIA1304 was used for the initial transformation and detected by GUS and GFP. Infiltrated samples transformed with pCAMBIA1304 showed a wider GUS response than the co-cultivated in the 50㎍/㎖ hygromycin selection medium. This transformation technique offers new prospects for the production of useful protein in the genetically improved mushroom.

This study was carried out to gain the basic informations about botanical characteristics of plant type and properties related to table quality for developing the new colored waxy corn hybrid. Materials used were produced by our laboratory in 2007 and their major traits were evaluated fro two years(2008 to 2009) at Corn Breeding Farm of Coll. of Agri. & Life in CNU. Items surveyed were major agricultural characteristics including ear length and traits related to edible. Botanical characteristics as a plant type and ear pattern of the developed waxy corn hybrids showed large ranges among them; stem height of CNU08H-h39 among used hybrids was the highest as 235.7cm, while CNUH08-15 was the lowest. Ear height of Daehackchal Gold 1 was the highest as 83.7cm and that of CNU08H-15 was the lowest among used hybrids. Ear length of CNU08H-h121 among used hybrids was the longest as 23.1cm, while that of CNU08H-71 was the smallest as 12.7cm. Kernel sugar content of the used hybrids appeared to be 16.1 to 13.0Brix(%). Especially, CNU08H-15, CNU08H-35 and CNU08H-h39 hybrids were highly appeared as 15 above. Pericarp thickness of check hybrid, Yeonongchal, was thicker as 46.0㎛, while that of CNU08H-39 compared to other hybrids showed the thinnest as 23.0㎛. From this study, we could obtain several superior colored hybrids with thinner pericarp and high sugar contents like CNU 08-39 and CNU 08-h121 hybrids. Accordingly, these hybrids will be apply as new developed variety through confirmed trials.
Discovery of a New Species of the Family Alucitidae (Lepidoptera) from China
Bong-Kyu Byun,Hui-Lin Han,Jong-Kyun Park 한국응용곤충학회 2009 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2009 No.05
The genus Alucita Linnaeus, 1758 belongs to the family Alucitidae, which is well known as the many- or multi-plumed moths. Up to date, 186 species have been recorded from the world (Gielis 2003). In East Asia, the genus Alucita L. has been investigated by various researchers to date: 5 species from Japan (Hashimoto 1984); 3 species from Russian Far East (Ustjuzhanin 1999). Recently Byun (2006) reviewed the Korean Alucitidae with a new species and two new records from Korea. However, it has been poorly known from China, including only one species, Alucita niveodactyla Pagenstechen from Guangdong, southern part of China (Hua 2005). In the present study, we found a new species of the genus Alucita L. from the Northern part of China. The purpose of this study is to describe the new species, Alucita baihuashanensis sp. nov.

The purpose of this study is to evacuate the route from the perspective of universal design to the multi-family housing complex of the elderly in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, with more than 600 households. The conclusions of the study are as follows. In terms of accessibility, the provision of pedestrian paths, continuity, and steps were relatively good in areas 1 and 2, but the evaluation results were low in terms of effective width, obstacles, slopes, drains and covers, ramps, and railings. Most of the pedestrian walkways near shelter show low evaluation results except for pedestrians and bollards. In terms of safety, even if a pedestrian route is planned, it is insufficient in terms of steps, drains and covers, bollards, stairs, railings, and parking lots, so it is necessary to secure safety through barrier-free of evacuation routes. In the case of sheltered pedestrian walkways, when used as an evacuation route, it is expected that a very crowded situation is mixed with displaced people and vehicles.
Abnormal Oculomotor Functions in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

<P><B>Background and Purpose</B></P><P>Although traditionally regarded as spared, a range of oculomotor dysfunction has been recognized in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. ALS is nowadays considered as a neurodegenerative disorder of a third compartment comprising widespread areas of extra-motor brain including cerebellum. Our objective was to perform an observational study to examine for ocular motor dysfunction in patients with ALS and for any differences between bulbar-onset and spinal-onset patients.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Thirty two ALS patients (bulbar onset: 10, spinal onset: 22) underwent the standardized systemic evaluations using video-oculography.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Oculomotor dysfunctions such as square wave jerks, saccadic dysmetria, abnormal cogwheeling smooth pursuits and head shaking and positional nystagmus of central origin have been observed in the ALS patients at a relatively early stage. Abnormal smooth pursuits and saccadic dysmetria were increased in the bulbar-onset compared to the spinal-onset (<I>p</I><0.05).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>These oculomotor abnormalities may be a marker of neuro-degeneration beyond motor neurons in ALS, especially in bulbar-onset disease. Future longitudinal studies of eye movement abnormalities have provided insights into the distribution and nature of the disease process.</P>
