We have focused on the stress evolution during initial growth stage of Ge nanodots on H-terminated Si(111) 1×1 and Si(111) 7×7corresponding to a StranskiKrastanow growth mode, when the wetting layer thickness approaches the critical value for three-dimen-sional nucleation. In case of the deposition on H-terminated Si(111) 1×1 surface, the rst Ge sub-bilayer shows tensile stress followedby compressive stress. The unique behavior demonstrates the important role of one atomic layer of H termination to control the intrinsicstress for nanodot fabrication.

The specific heat of a tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide (TBAB) aqueous solution, the latent heat of a TBAB hydrate, and the specific enthalpy of a TBAB hydrate slurry were measured to understand the thermal storage characteristics of TBAB hydrate slurry. A solution sample and the hydrate slurry were heated, the change in temperature was measured, and the specific heat of the TBAB aqueous solution and the specific enthalpy of the hydrate slurry were obtained from the change in temperature. Two types of TBAB hydrate form. Therefore, the hydrates were separated from the hydrate slurry formed from TBAB aqueous solution having several initial concentrations. The hydrate crystals were placed into solution, and the latent heats were obtained from the temperature change of the solution. The specific enthalpy of the hydrate slurry was estimated from the latent heats of the hydrate crystals and the specific heat of the solution under phase equilibrium conditions, and the measured and estimated values were compared.

Tidal flats and seagrass beds were decreased in Japan by landfilling and others. So in recent years, coast regeneration projects have been progressed in order to recover tidal flats and seagrass beds. A sand-alternative material for creation of land is needed which could have safety, environmental friendly and stable supply, then steel slag meets these requirements. However, steel slag normally doesn't have silt faction and solidification is happen by the elution of Ca and Fe from slag in sea water. In our previous butch experiment, dredged soils obtained from sea sediment has a possibility to supply silt fraction and reduce the solidification. In this paper, we reviled the solidification behavior of steel slag in seawater during 10 months, and the effect of the addition of dredged soil to steel slag and there mechanism. The slag were bonded to each other with iron oxide, and shear stress was 3 times increased in slag only. The addition of dredged soil decrease the shear stress, and also interfere the solidification of slag. ORP or/and embrittlement effect as impurities by the components in dredge soil were the reason of these inhibition of the formation of the bridge between slags by the dredge soil.

Formation characteristics of propane hydrate using fiber layer were investigated experimentally. Water and propane gas contact in the fiber layer, and the propane gas hydrate can be formed continuously. In the experiment, pressure, temperature, the quantity of water and porosity of the fiber layer were varied as the experimental parameters, and the formation ratio and the formation rate were measured. As a result, it was found that the high formation ratio can be obtained by using the fiber layer. Therefore, it can be said that this method is useful to reduce energy consumption and to simplify the apparatus, since it does not need circulation system. Moreover, it was found that the formation rate increases with the subcooling and the quantity of water, and it is slightly affected by the porosity of the fiber layer

The effect of metal oxide species in (Ni, Fe and/or Co) oxide-Bi2O3 over gamma-alumina support wasinvestigated for n-butane oxidative dehydrogenation. Partial substitution of Ni up to 50% by Fe improvedbutadiene selectivity while same substitution with Co increased n-butane conversion. The ternary Ni-Fe-Co system (10 wt% Ni–5 wt% Fe–5 wt% Co–30 wt% Bi-O/gamma-Al2O3) showed the highest butadieneselectivity of 46.3% at n-butane conversion of 30%. The acid-base sites preferably adjusted by ternarymain metal combination in hierarchical cohabitation of metal (Ni, Fe and Co) oxide, Bi2O3 and gamma-Al2O3 cooperate to accelerate butadiene selectivity at both 1st and 2nd step dehydrogenations due to anincreased H2 abstraction and 1-butene intermediate adsorption.
