Decision Making Model for Ro-Ro Short Sea Shipping Operations in Archipelagic Southeast Asia
Aminuddin Md AROF 한국해운물류학회 2018 The Asian journal of shipping and Logistics Vol.34 No.1
This study aims to develop a decision-making model for determining the potential of interstate Ro-Ro Short Sea Shipping (SSS) operations in Archipelagic Southeast Asia (ASEA). It is expected to assist SSS authorities, private investors and financial institutions focus their limited resources on several key factors that could ensure the success of their undertakings. This study will begin with identifying the relevant factors that have contributed towards successful SSS operations through a process of literature review. Subsequently, a Delphi survey was conducted with sub-regional experts to identify any new determinants and assess their opinions on the relative importance of all the determinants involved. Finally the weightages of the determinants were ascertained through the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Twenty expert respondents from Brunei Darussalam. Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines were involved in the Delphi survey while 18 expert respondents continue to participate in the AHP survey. This study concludes with the development of a decision-making model that was tested on three interstate Ro-Ro SSS routes within the ASEA sub-region.
Decentralized Discrete-Time Quasi-Sliding Mode Control of Uncertain Linear Interconnected Systems
Aminuddin Qureshi,Mohamed Ali Abido 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2014 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.12 No.2
In this paper, a new global decentralized discrete-time quasi-sliding mode control of linear interconnected systems is presented. The proposed controller is free of chattering problem and can be applied to a broader class of large-scale systems. Additionally, it is capable to deal with both known and unknown interconnections among the subsystems. Stability of the reduced-order interconnected systems is analyzed using Lyapunov approach. The proposed decentralized controller guarantees the reachability of the connective sliding manifold. The resultant dynamics are proved to be globally as-ymptotically stable. Furthermore, the controller is made robust to external disturbances by employing a disturbance estimation scheme. The simulations are performed on model of a two-area power generation system and the results show the efficacy of the proposed scheme.
Neuro-based Canonical Transformation of Port Controlled Hamiltonian Systems
Aminuddin Qureshi,Sami El Ferik,Frank L. Lewis 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2020 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.18 No.12
In the literature of control theory, tracking control of port controlled Hamiltonian systems is generally achieved using canonical transformation. Closed form evaluation of state-feedback for the canonical transformation requires the solution of certain partial differential equations which becomes very difficult for nonlinear systems. This paper presents the application of neural networks for the canonical transformation of port controlled Hamiltonian systems. Instead of solving the partial differential equations, neural networks are used to approximate the closedform state-feedback required for canonical transformation. Ultimate boundedness of the tracking and neural network weight errors is guaranteed. The proposed approach is structure preserving. The application of neural networks is direct and off-line processing of neural networks is not needed. Efficacy of the proposed approach is demonstrated with the examples of a mass-spring system, a two-link robot arm and an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV).
Privacy preserving multi-party multiplication of polynomials based on(k,n) threshold secret sharing
Mohd Kamal Ahmad Akmal Aminuddin,Iwamura Keiichi 한국통신학회 2023 ICT Express Vol.9 No.5
In applications such as cloud analytics, multi-party computation enables a set of participants to compute an arbitrary function of their inputs jointly, without revealing these inputs to one another. In this study, we introduce secure multi-party multiplication using(k,n) threshold secret sharing without increasing the required number of computing servers. This is achieved using encrypted shares and a recombination vector, whereby two encrypted shares of the same secret are sent to each server. Moreover, our method supports multi-input (as opposed to only two-input) multiplication. This is important for operations such as exponential functions that are commonly used in domains including deep learning.

Objective This study aims to examine the effect of giving probiotic adjuvant therapy on improving clinical symptoms & IL-6 levels in patients with schizophrenia. Methods This research was a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted at Dadi Psychiatric Hospital, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia in November–December 2021. The sample of the research was patients with schizophrenia undergoing hospitalization who received therapeutic doses of risperidone with a total of 21 samples in each treatment and control group. Research subjects were measured with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) at baseline, 2nd, 4th, and 6th weeks. The treatment group received one capsule/12 hours/oral of probiotics for six weeks and the control group received 1 capsule/12 hours/oral placebo for 6 weeks. In addition, two measurements of IL-6 using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay were performed in both groups, namely at the beginning of week 0 and the end of the 6th week. Results We found the decrease in the PANSS value which described the improvement in clinical symptoms of the schizophrenic group after receiving therapeutic doses of antipsychotics and probiotic capsules or the treatment group as well as the schizophrenia group receiving therapeutic doses of antipsychotics and placebo capsules or the control group. Conclusion Improvements in clinical symptoms and decreased levels of IL-6 in the group of patients with schizophrenia who received risperidone with probiotic adjuvant therapy were better than in the group of patients with schizophrenia who received risperidone without probiotics as adjuvant therapy.

This study was designed to verify the optimal · basic culture media that promote chondrocytes proliferation in vitro in order to facilitate adequate amount of chondrocytes for cartilage reconstructionas well as maintaining cartilage specific phenotype. Human articular chondrocytes were cultured in three types of basic culture media Ham`s F12, DMEM and the equivalent mixture of F12:DMEM. Cultured chondrocytes were trypsinized as they reached confluency. The viability and total number of cell were recorded at every passage. Large-scale culture expansion was used to reconstruct tissue-engineered cartilage. Quantitative RT-PCR analysis was used to evaluate the expression of collagen Type II, collagen Type I, aggrecan and Sox 9 gene, both in monolayer culture and in the engineered cartilage. The mixture of F12:DMEM promotes significantly greater (p<0.05) chondrocytes proliferation at every passage compared to the individual medium. Monolayer cultured chondrocytes exhibited down-regulation expression pattern of collagen Type II gene, aggrecan and Sox 9, whilst the expression of collagen Type I is up-regulated. Tissue-engineered cartilage morphologically and histologically resembled normal hyaline cartilage. Moreover, tissue-engineered cartilage re-expressed the specific chondrogenesis markers; collagen Type II, aggrecan and Sox 9. In conclusion, the mixture of F12:DMEM enhanced human articular chondrocytes proliferation thus provided adequate amount of chondrocytes for cartilage reconstruction. The new cartilage formed phenotypically resembles native cartilage. This results hold promise for the use of tissue-engineered cartilage implant for future orthopaedic reconstructive surgery.

This paper reports in vitro cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory and adipocyte diffentiation with adipogenic effects of coumarins inophyllum D (1) and calanone (2), and a chromanone carboxylic acid namely isocordato-oblongic acid (3) isolated from Calophyllum symingtonianum as well as a biflavonoid morelloflavone (4) isolated from Garcinia prainiana on MCF-7 breast adenocarcinoma RAW 264.7 macrophages and 3T3-L1 preadipocytes cells, respectively. The cytotoxicity study on MCF-7 cell was conducted by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Meanwhile, the study of anti-inflammatory effects in RAW 264.7 macrophages and adipogenic effects on 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes were conducted through nitrite determination assay and induction of adipocyte differentiation, respectively. In the cytotoxicity study, inophyllum D (1) was the only compounds that exhibited significant cytotoxic effect against MCF-7 cell with IC50 of 84 ?g/mL. Further, all by inhibiting the compounds have shown anti-inflammatory effects in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages of nitrite concentration with production. In addition, the compounds also exhibited adipogenic effects on 3T3-L1 pre-adipocytes by stimulating lipid formation. Thus, this study may provide significant input in discovery of the potential effects cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory and adipogenic agents.
