Objective : The purpose of this clinical research was to investigate the effects of herbal cosmetics containing Momordica charntia L. extracts on the anti-wrinkle and whitening effects. Methods : A total of 25 subjects who visited Daegu Hanny Oriental Medical Center from November 1st, 2010 to December 31th, 2010 were included in this study. In this study, we observed change of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 for using products, change of average melanin content and pigmental area, analysis results of subjective wrinkle improvement, Analysis results of subjective whitening improvement. Statistical analysis was performed by using paired t-test and wilcoxon signed ranks test. Statistical significance was achieved if the probability was less than 5%(p<0.05) Results : Statistically, herbal cosmetics containing Momordica charntia L. extracts showed siginificant effect on change of R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 for using products, change of average melanin content and pigmental area, analysis results of subjective wrinkle improvement, Analysis results of subjective whitening improvement(p<0.05). And satisfaction after using herbal cosmetics was near good. Conclusions : Considering the above results, we have concluded that herbal cosmetics containing Momordica charntia L. extracts have the remarkable effects on the anti-wrinkle and whitening effects.
아토피 피부염 환자에서 상황버섯 추출물을 함유한 한방화장품의 임상적 연구

Methods : A total of 35 patients who visited Daegu Hanny Oriental Medical Center from November 4th, 2008 to December 28th, 2008 were included in this study. In this study, we observed transepidermal water loss, skin moisture content, modified scorad index of atopic dermatitis and pruritic degree. Statistical analysis was performed by using paired t-test and wilcoxon signed ranks test. Statistical significance was achieved if the probability was less than 5%(p<0.05). Results : Statistically, herbal cosmetics containing Phellinus linteus extracts showed siginificant effect on transepidermal water loss, skin moisture content, modified scorad index of atopic dermatitis and pruritic degree(p<0.05). And satisfaction after using herbal cosmetics was near good. Conclusions : Considering the above results, we have concluded that herbal cosmetics containing Phellinus linteus extracts have the remarkable effects on atopic dermatitis.
무동력 디스크 해로우의 작업각도가 견인력에 미치는 영향

국내 농업에서 토양의 반전, 쇄토, 배토, 가능한 복합작업기인 무동력 디스크해로우 방식의 경운과 배토 고효율 복합작업기의 수요가 증가 하고 있다. 경운작업에서 일련의 과정은 작물의 생육과 관리차원에서 큰 의미를 지니며 작물재배의 첫 단계로 중요시 다루어져야 할 과정이다. 이러한 작업기의 성능 시험에서 포장시험을 통해 복합기의 신뢰도와 실제 필드에서 발생하는 문제들을 포괄적으로 해결 할 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 토양 경작을 위한 농업기기의 작업 저항은 식물 생산에서 유용성을 평가하는 가장 중요한 지표중 하나이다. 작업 저항(수평, 수직 방향의 힘)은 트랙터의 힘에 의해 생성된 동작을 방해하므로 토양 경운 시 에너지 소비를 결정하고 설계 매개 변수 측면에서 최적의 작업 조건을 결정하는 데 중요한 영향을 미친다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 경상대학교 내 위치한 실험동에서 Soil-bin에 이송장치를 설치한 후, 이송장치에 디스크 해로우 (Multidisc Vario, Tulip Agri., Netherlands)를 부착하여 실험을 진행하였다. 디스크 해로우의 원주 평면과 수직 평면 사이의 각 a(토양 표면에 수직)와 디스크의 해로우의 원주 평면과 작업 방향 사이의 각 b의 값을 독립 변수로 두고 a, b를 변화 시키면서 발생하는 이송장치의 견인력을 측정하여 농가 및 효율적인 경운작업 시 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다.

경운은 작물을 재배하기 전에 토양의 파쇄 또는 반전을 통하여 부드럽게 하고 흙덩이를 작게 부수며 지표면을 평평하게 하는 작업을 말하는데, 이는 지표면의 잡초와 작물 잔재의 처리, 양분의 유효화를 도울 뿐만 아니라 뿌리의 활착과 성장의 기본이 되는 묘상을 조성하여 작물 생육의 근간이 되는 토양조건을 조절하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 그러나 어느 정도의 토양의 특성, 함수율 등 토양의 물리적 특성들이 경운 작업에 어떠한 영향을 갖는지에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 작업기의 디스크 헤로우를 이송장치에 부착하여 실내실험을 통해 토양의 물리적 특성 (함수율, 단위중량), 작업기의 특성 (주행속도, 디스크 헤로우 간의 간격)에 따른 경운 토양의 반전율 등을 분석하고자 하며, 작업시기의 적정 토양의 물리적 상태를 확인하여 농가의 기초자료로 활용하고자 한다. 실험은 실제 농장을 대상으로 여러 변수를 설정하고 실험하기에는 어려움이 있다고 판단하여 실제 현장을 감안하여 시제품을 축소 한 후, 경상대학교 내 위치한 실험동에서 Soil-bin을 설치하여 4가지 변수를 두고 진행하였다. 함수율, 작업 속도는 3가지 조건으로, 단위 중량은 일반적인 밭 흙 단위 중량 2.3 kg/m3을 기준으로 높을 때와 낮을 때로 구분 지었으며, 디스크 헤로우의 간격은 30 cm, 40 cm로 구분하여 실험을 진행하였다. 이러한 4가지 변수를 두고 실험을 실시할 때 똑같은 조건으로 산포하기 위해 1 m * 1 m 면적의 프레임을 제작하여 일정하게 3회 석회가루를 산포하였다. 경운 작업 전· 후의 석회가루 분포를 영상처리를 이용하여 흙과 석회가루의 픽셀 수를 측정한 후 반전율을 계산하였다. 반전율은 함수율별 분석 시 25%, 15%, 30% 순으로 측정되었고, Disc harrow의 간격은 30cm 일 때가 더 높게 측정되었으며, 토양의 단위중량은 2.3 kg/m3 이상일 때 더 높게 측정되었다.

Objective : The present study was examined to evaluate the effects of Ecliptae Herba on the production of inflammatory mediators in vivo and in vitro. Methods : In cell viability, all three doses of Ecliptae Herba extract (25, 50 and $100\;{\mu}g/ml$) had no significant cytotoxicity during the experimental period. The increases of NO production and iNOS expression were detected in LPS-activated cells compared to control, but these increases were dose-dependently attenuated by pre-treatment with Ecliptae Herba extract. Results : 1. LPS plays a pivotal roles in inducing to the massive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-$\alpha$, IL-$1{\beta}$ and IL-6 in macrophages. 2. Ecliptae Herba extract reduced the elevated production of cytokines by LPS. 3. Ecliptae Herba extract reduced $PGE_2$ levels in a dose-dependent manner as a consequence of inhibition of COX-2 activity. 4. Ecliptae Herba extract significantly reduced the nuclear translocation of $NF-{\kappa}B$ induced by LPS. 5. In histopathological study, Ecliptae Herba effectively inhibited the increases of hind paw edema, skin thicknesses and inflammatory cell infiltrations induced by carrageenan treatment. Conclusions : These results provide evidences that therapeutic effect of Ecliptae Herba on the acute inflammation is partly due to the reduction of some of inflammatory factors by inhibiting iNOS and COX-2 through the suppression of $NF-{\kappa}B$.

Objectives : The present study was examined to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix MeOH extracts (GMR) in vivo. Methods : The effects of GMR on anti-inflammation were measured by production of NO, TNF-$\alpha$ (Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha) and IL-$1{\beta}$ (Interleukin-$1{\beta}$), IL-6 in Raw 264.7 macrophage cells stimulated with LPS. Results : 1. All concentrations of GMR(0.10 mg/ml) had no significant cytotoxicity in Raw 264.7 cell during the entire experimental period. 2. The level of NO and iNOS in culture medium was dramatically increased by LPS application. However, these increases were dose-dependently(0.03 and 0.10 mg/ml) attenuated by treatment with GMR. 3. All concentrations of GMR significantly inhibited the production of IL-$1{\beta}$ in Raw 264.7 macrophage cells stimulated with LPS. Conclusions : These results provide evidences that therapeutic effect of GMR on heat syndrome, especially due to the acute inflammation, are partly due to the reduction of some of inflammatory factors by inhibiting iNOS and COX-2 through the suppression of $p-I{\kappa}B{\alpha}$. Moreover, it suggests that the mechanism of action of GMR comes from the suppression of inflammatory mediators, such as NO, PGE2 and pro-inflammatory cytokines.
율초(?草) 추출물이 Rat의 paw edema에 미치는 영향

Objectives : The present study was examined to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Humulus japonicus MeOH extracts (HJE) in the carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats. Methods : The effects of HJE on anti-inflammation were measured in the carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats and infiltrated Inflammatory Cells. Results : 1. HJE (1.0 g/kg) and dexamethasone effectively inhibited paw edema measured 1~4 h after carrageenan injection. HJE (0.3 g/kg) effectively inhibited paw edema measured 1, 3, 4 hr. 2. In histopathological study in rats, 1.0 g/kg HJE and dexamethasone effectively inhibited the increases of hind paw skin thicknesses and inflammatory cell infiltrations induced by carrageenan treatment. But quite similar histopathological changes were detected in 0.3 g/kg HJE treated group as compared with carrageenan control.

Objectives : The present study was conducted to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of the Gamroeum water extracts (GRE) in vivo and in vitro. Methods : The effects of GRE on anti-inflammation were measured by production of NO, $PGE_2$ (Prostaglandin $E_2$), iNOS (inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase), COX-2, $NF{\kappa}B$ (Nuclear Factor kappa B), TNF-$\alpha$ (Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha) and IL-$1{\beta}$ (Interleukin-$1{\beta}$), IL-6 in Raw 264.7 macrophage cells stimulated with LPS. Results : 1. In machrophage cells, LPS displayed significant stimulatory effects on the production of NO and $PGE_2$. However, GRE showed significant inhibitory effects on NO and $PGE_2$ release. The level of NO and $PGE_2$ was decreased by GRE in a concentration dependent manner as compared with LPS only group. 2. Immunoblot analysis verified that LPS stimulation significantly increased the iNOS and COX-2 protein level, but GRE suppressed the induction of iNOS and COX-2 protein at a concentration dependent manner. 3. GRE reduced the elevated production of TNF-$\alpha$, IL-$1{\beta}$ and IL-6 by LPS. Moreover, the inhibitory effects of GRE was occurred in a dose-dependent manner. 4. GRE significantly reduced the expression of NF-${\kappa}B$ protein in nuclear fraction. 5. GRE effectively inhibited the increases of hind paw skin thicknesses and inflammatory cell infiltrations induced by carrageenan treatment. It, therefore, considered that GRE will be favorably inhibited the acute edematous inflammations. Conclusions : These results indicated that GRE could have anti-inflammatory capacity by inhibiting the production of NO, $PGE_2$ and cytokines in vitro and by reducing the formation of carrageenan-induced paw edema in vivo. Moreover, inhibitory effects of GRE on the macrophage activation were attributable to the reduction of some of inflammatory factors by inhibiting iNOS and COX-2 through the suppression of NF-${\kappa}B$.
