Gas diffusion layer (GDL) of PEMFCs plays a role that it diffuses the reactant gases to the catalyst layer on the membrane and discharge water from the catalyst layer to the channel. Physical parameters related to the mass transport of GDL are mostly from the uncompressed GDLs while actual GDLs in the assembled stacks are compressed. In this study, the relation of compression and strain of GDLs with various Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) loading is measured experimentally and In-plane gas permeability is measured at the condition that the GDLs are in compressive strain. The gas permeability decreased with the loading of PTFE and the presentation of gas permeability under compressive stain is expected to improve the accuracy of modeling work of mass transport in the GDL.

BSR 테스트 장치에서 가진기 진동 제어시스템은 자동차에 임의의 진동을 만들어 도로에서 주행하는 상황을 모사하는 역할을 수행한다. 현재 국내에서 사용되고 있는 가진 제어기의 경우 대부분 해외에서 수입한 고가의 제품이며 사용자가 본인의 응용분야에 맞추어 자유롭게 변경이 어려운 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 스윕 사인 진동제어를 수행하는 가진기 제어시스템을 고성능 제어기인 CompactRIO를 이용하여 분산제어 방식으로 구현한다. 이를 통해서 기존의 제어기를 사용할 때 나타나는 문제점인 출력신호 불연속성을 해결하는 방법과 시스템 역모델을 이용한 보상기를 통해 기준 가진 프로파일의 추종성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제시한다. A vibration control system in BSR test equipments simulates the situation of what happens to a vehicle running on the road. Vibration controllers currently used by domestic users are not only expensive but also give no allowance in modifying their specifications according to the application purpose. In this study, we present a hardware architecture using the CompactRIO to distribute work burden to each controller for the vibration control of a shaker by sweeping sine signal. The proposed method can remove the discontinuity problem that occurs in signal output. The compensator based on the inverse model of the system is designed to improve the control performance in following the reference vibration profile.

Enhancement of mass transport of reactant gas from the channel to the catalyst layer is essential to improve the performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Gas diffusion layer (GDL) is used as diffusion media and thus it is important to determine its transport characteristics. In this study, In-plane gas permeability GDLs with various Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) loading is measured experimentally at the condition that the GDL is in compressive strain. Gas permeability of widely used GDLs was proposed and it increased with the loading of PTFE. The results is expected to improve accuracy of mass trasnport modeling work of GDL.
