Khora: The Re-exploration of the Feminine in Auden`s The Shield of Achilles and Homage to Clio

After the two apocalyptic world wars Auden`s contemplation of history results in the unequivocal recognition of the fundamental depravity and instability of human civilization, which, Auden diagnoses, is caused by the abuse of the masculine principle as no detached action unaware of spacing and contemplation. While seeking new alternative perspectives for the restoration of civilization, Auden keenly feels the necessity of the reexamination of the feminine principle. As he reinterprets the passivity of the feminine principle, he pays attention to the securing of dissociation, a trait that is analogous to the notion of Plato`s khora or Derrida`s reappropriationof khora. Khora as a receptacle receives all sorts of imprints, and thusis deeply affected by the intense impressions, but in another sense, itis safe to say that it evades the impact, because it is an amorphous matrix. That is to say, khora locates a paradoxical position in which itnot only embraces severe strikes, but also avoids the burden of the inscriptions. Similarly, Auden`s feminism highlights the new possibilities that the feminine principle affords including the productivity of passivity or inaction. Of course, Auden does not ignore the tormented history of the feminine, particularly lamenting over the deprivation of bucolics. But by unearthing the new traits from the feminine, he strains to sublimate the passivity into new possibilities including diffidence, reservation, contemplation, and intervention. With the detection of a layer of spacing between the impression and the receiving matrix, the receiving agents can take on immune resistance or distanced indifference against the inscriptions including aggression and violence. In addition, by securing more detachment from incidents, the feminine passivity exercises more influential power including the peculiar intervention in diverse occurrences. Thus, the feminine principle eventually demonstrates its maximum efficiency as the key initiative in the future. Auden links the paradoxical duplicity of dissociated creativity to Christian mysticism, which underlines the disconnection from secular life and reconstruction of it from the perspective that the disengagement provides, redolent of the notion of khora, and transposable with Christian feminism.

Post-structuralism presents new economic perspectives by deconstructing and reinterpreting existing economic systems. Bataille criticizes bourgeoisie capitalism as a restricted economy, which is based on utility and makes the most of any resources within limitation and distinguishes what he terms a general economy, which allows overabundant production and exhaustive expenditures. Derrida characterizes the economy of gift as transgressing the dominant capitalistic system and furthermore surpassing any restriction while occasionally fabricating contractual economy. The post-structuralist view of the economy can be applicable to the analysis of the characters of The Merchant of Venice. Shylock may be a representative of a restricted economy because economic rationality is usually constitutionalized in him. It is customary for him to calculate, measure, and estimate almost all things related to business ad precisely as possible. In contrast, Antonio, Bassanio and Portia tend to neglect numerical concepts and realize the logic of general economy or of gift economy while not curbing the dissipation of excessive resources and the acceptance of severe suffering. These economies have some similarities to aesthetics. Venice is a place in which the pleasure principle or th principle of homeostasis is operating; pleasure and pain derivative from profit and loss are clearly divided and circulatory within the motive to produce considerable excitement and reduce any displeasure. N/A Objective : The endometrial cancer can be divided into two large groups on the base of carcinogenesis according to the pathologic findings. The hormone induced cancer group(type 1) represents the cancers developed under the effects of unopposed estrogen. And the other group(type 2) can be developed by the mechanisms of divergent variable events such as mutations or gene deletions. These two different types show definite differences in clinical characteristics. Methods : Clinical features of the 43 patients who were diagnosed and were treated as endometrial cancer in Gynecologic department of Ajou University Hospital from June 1994 to November 2000 were evaluated according to the pathologic findings. 22 patients of type 1 and 17 patients of type 2 were classified and analysed statistically. Results : Age, cell types, grade, cancer stage, endometrial thickness, invasion depth of uterine walls were definitely different with statistic significance. The lymphovascular space invasion, the number of lymph node metastasis, pap smear of cervix, adnexal involvement, diabetes, hypertension, CA125, gravida, height were not different between two groups statistically in correlations. BMI shown marked difference but had no statistical significance. Conclusion : The classification of endometrial cancer into the two types is very significant because it can allow avoidance of preceding risk factors and can provide the alteration of treatment tendency and the expectation of benign or malignant prognosis, clinically.

Regarding the recent discussion on the subject, Derrida addresses the question of posthumanism more specifically in "The Ends of Man," "Eating Well," "To Unsense the Subjectile," and The Animal that therefore I am as an extension of his major themes such as differance, trace, supplement, etc. He even deconstructs Heidegger because the latter also posited human beings in his ontology or onto-theological structure although he tried to negate traditional humanism which ultimately partakes of transcendental metaphysics. Derrida claims that his posthumanism is geared with the difference, the trace of otherness not pursuing the origin of being. However, he denies advocating the idea of liquidating humans literally; rather he advances the exappropriation and reappropriation of the subject. Exappropriation is to create distance from the self-identity and to be besieged by the problematics of differences. Reappropriation is to reinstate the subject in opposed and multiple directions. Furthermore, quoting the subjectile from Antonin Artaud Derrida proposes it as his new concept and disseminates many other notions from it such as projection, introjection, abjection, etc. Largely he divides the subjectile into two categories: being thrown and throwing. The subjectile as thrown is focused on the inertia and passivity of the subject; thus it could be failure, a cadaver or soil, damaged, destroyed, and persecuted. On the other hand, it can be made into more progressive and energetic elements such as receptacle or womb. The subjectile as a projectile gains an excessive energy and can unveil into a missile that can be displaced into violent effects, such as ghosts. Thus, it can disjoint the insistence on essentialism or substantialism exploding substratum and representation. Derrida differentiates his subject not only to strangers but also onto the animal radicalizing the notion of the other. Defying traditional biology in which human subjects observe animals, he transfers human beings' attention to the fact that animals can gaze at humans too. At that point encountering the entire difference we come to cross the boundary between man and animal and produce heterogeneous multiplicity. In addition, Derrida asserts that the animal means to become an autobiographical animal which allows for writing at once about the self and another's history.

소실점을 이용한 스마트폰 카메라 자세보정

스마트 폰의 보급이 확산 되면서 모바일 센서를 이용한 연구와 관심이 증대되고 있다. 특히 스마트폰의 GPS와 방향센서를 이용한 위치정보서비스가 활발히 개발 및 서비스를 하고 있다. 하지만 주위의 자기 흐름을 방해하는 요소들에 의해 스마트폰의 센서는 오차가 발생하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 스마트폰의 카메라로부터 영상을 획득 한 뒤, 가속도계를 이용하여 빠르게 소실점을 계산한다. 그리고 계산된 소실점과 기준이 되는 지도의 건물 외곽선과의 오차를 구하여 카메라의 자세를 보정한다. 제안하는 소실점을 이용한 자세보정의 성능을 보이기 위해 3D 공간에 가시화를 하여 확인하였다.
