Nineteen frozen embryos with high genetic-potency were imported from Holstein Registration Association of America and transferred to recipients of the National Livestock Breeding Station. The synchronization was induced by twice intramuscular injections of 25㎎ PGF₂α with 14 days interval. The frozen embryos thawed at 37℃ were rehydrated within 6 steps in order to remove glycerol of the medium. The embryos were transferred to 19 recipients with non-surgical method and the results were as follows. 1. On 1st and 2nd intramuscular injection of PGF₂α, twentyeight (68.3%) and thirty-six (87.8%) among 41 treated showed estrus within 4 days after treatment. 2. The rate of the standing heat on day 3 after injection of PGF₂α was 53.7 and 73.6% at 1st arid 2nd injection, respectively. 3. The rate of the heifers showing standing heat after 1st and 2nd injection was 79.2 and 91.7%, but that of the cows was 52.9 and 82.4%. The rate was higher in heifer than cow. The rate of heifer selected for embryo transfer among synchronized recipients was also higher (62.5%) than that of cow (23.5%). 4 The evaluation of 19 frozen embryos (12 Holsteins and 7 Limousins) exception of 4 eggs with broken zona pellucida was generally good quality blastocysts as pre-freezing embryos. The pregnancy was obtained only from blastocyst. 5. At the examination of pregnancy at 60 days after nonsurgical transfers, three (15.8%) of 19 recipients were concepted. As the results, 2 female Holsteins (16.7%) and 1 male Limousin (14.3%) were delivered in terms of normal pregnant period.

Twenty frozen embryos obtained from high genetically potential donors were introduced by cooperation with the American Holstein Association. The 47 recipients at the National Livestock Breeding Station were intramuscularly injected once or twice with 25㎎ PGF₂α for synchronization of estrus cycle with donors. The frozen embryos were rehydrated in 2-steps sucrose media after thawing at 37℃ and embryo transfer was performed by both of surgical and non-surgical methods. In addition, fresh embryos collected from 3 donors of the Station were transferred. The results were as follows: 1. Twenty-two of 23 fresh embryos obtained from 3 superovulated donors showed good morphology and average 7.3 embryos per donor were collected. 2. Among 47 heads treated, rate of estrus induced by twice of PGF₂α was higher (87.5%) than by once (78.7%), and the rate of heifers was higher than cows. 3. The quality of corpus luteum of 45 recipients synchronized in estrus was composed of 15 cows (33.3%) in excellent or good, 23cows (51.1%) in fair or little poor and 7 cows (15.6%) in no corpus luteum or cystic follicle, respectively. Most of recipients showed fair or little poor corpus luteum. 4. All frozen embryos except seven showed geneally good qualities in results of examination before transfer. 5. Twelve (40%) among 30 embryos were impregnated and all of them were Holstein breeds. 6. Two of 12 frozen and 10 of 18 fresh embryos were concepted, respectively. The conception rate of fresh embryo was higher than that of frozen embryo. 7. Forty-five percentage (rune of 20 recipients) of conception rate by non-surgical were higher than 30% (three of 10 recipients) by surgical method. 8. The surgical conception rates (66.7%) of fresh embryos were higher than non-surgical method (53.3%). However, surgical method (14.3%) of the frowns were lower than non-surgical (20.0%).

N/A We investigated the clinical manifestations of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in civilian. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical manifestations and laboratory findings of the thirty-nine patients who had visited our hospital. The characteristic clinical findings observed in these patients were lower incidence of hemorrhagic tendency such as conjunctival hemorrhage(13%) and petechial hemorrhage (18%) and higher incidence of gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea(69%). And only 5Yo of the patients had the hypotensive period. Laboratory findings showed comparatively mild degree of thrombocytopenia and decreased renal func- tion. However ALT and AST were revealed abnormally increased at 82.1% and 66.7% of the patients respectivelly. The above results represented that the recent infections of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome in civilian showed atypical manifestations of lower incidence of the hypotensive period and lesser hemorrhagic tendency, so we should consider hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome as a diagnosis when a patient has these clinical features in epidemic seasons.

Over the years, engineered heart tissue (EHT), composed of cardiac cells and a hydrogel, has been considered as a promising in-vitro cardiac model in that it can reproduce the physiological contractions of an actual animal heart. In particular, the contractile force of EHT is one of the representative factors to evaluate drug-induced cardiotoxicity that is a major cause of the withdrawal of drug development. Although there have been a lot of methods to monitor the contractile force of the EHT, most of them are based on optical readout systems that have to process a huge amount of image data. Recently, a strain gauge-based microphysiological system was developed to monitor the contractile force of a laminar cardiac tissue, which can acquire real-time data with a relatively small amount of data. However, the system can monitor only few layers of cardiomyocytes, which are physiologically less relevant environment compared to EHT. Here, we developed a hybrid bioprinted tissue platform, consisting of six bipillar-grafted strain gauges (BPSGs) and one wireless device, that enables online monitoring of the contractile forces from 6 different EHTs in real time during culturing. Furthermore, we confirmed that our system can detect the effects of commercially available drugs on EHTs.

Objective: To evaluate the global practice pattern of wound dressing use after lumbar fusion for degenerative conditions. Methods: A survey issued by AO Spine Knowledge Forums Deformity and Degenerative was sent out to AO Spine members. The type of postoperative dressing employed, timing of initial dressing removal, and type of subsequent dressing applied were investigated. Differences in the type of surgery and regional distribution of surgeons’ preferences were analyzed. Results: Right following surgery, 60.6% utilized a dry dressing, 23.2% a plastic occlusive dressing, 5.7% glue, 6% a combination of glue and polyester mesh, 2.6% a wound vacuum, and 1.2% other dressings. The initial dressing was removed on postoperative day 1 (11.6%), 2 (39.2%), 3 (20.3%), 4 (1.7%), 5 (4.3%), 6 (0.4%), 7 or later (12.5%), or depending on drain removal (9.9%). Following initial dressing removal, 75.9% applied a dry dressing, 17.7% a plastic occlusive dressing, and 1.3% glue, while 12.1% used no dressing. The use of no additional coverage after initial dressing removal was significantly associated with a later dressing change (p < 0.001). Significant differences emerged after comparing dressing management among different AO Spine regions (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Most spine surgeons utilized a dry or plastic occlusive dressing initially applied after surgery. The first dressing was more frequently changed during the first 3 postoperative days and replaced with the same type of dressing. While dressing policies tended not to vary according to the type of surgery, regional differences suggest that actual practice may be based on personal experience rather than available evidence.
