지식경제부와 한국디자인진흥원은 대한민국 디자인 산업을 이끌어갈 우수한 신예 디자이너 발굴의 장이자, 국내 산업 디자인의 미래를 조망하는 "대한민국디자인전람회" 수상작을 발표했다. 대한민국 디자인계를 이끄는 학계 산업계의 초대 추천 디자이너 542명을 배출한 이 전람회는 1995년부터 집계된 출품 수만 2만5천여 점에 달하는 국내 최대 최고 규모의 공모전이다. 이번 전람회에서는 롯데칠성 디자인팀의 김지혜 씨가 바쁜 현대인들에게 안전하고 건강한 생활 식습관을 제안한 "요리하는 즐거움, 건강한 라이프스타일을 위한 패키지디자인연구"로 국무총리상을 수상하게 됐다. 김지혜 디자이너에게 작품 소개 및 패키지디자인에 대한 견해를 들어보았다.
The Stress-Reducing Effects of Forest Healing Activities in Maladjusted Military Force Members

Background and objective: In the Republic of Korea, military service is mandatory. Some of new recruits have the stress from the special environment, which could cause psychological maladjustment. The military forces have operated education programs such as green camp and healing camp. The study was conducted to investigate changes in psychological and physiological stress by conducting forest healing activities along with plant scent treatment for soldiers participating in a green camp. Methods: A total of 52 soldiers were participated including maladjustment soldiers and those recommended by their military units to protect the unfit soldiers who participated in forest healing activities in the green camp. The programs that were certified by the Korea Forest Service between 2014 and 2019, and were applied for stress reduction and relaxation training were classified into stress-coping programs and forest experience programs. Post-hoc surveys and cortisol measurements were carried out. Results: Green camp soldiers experience and differences in the level of stress responses were found to be very statistically significant between the treatment and control groups. The techniques for coping with stress were not significantly different in the control group, and the treatment group showed statistically significant results. In addition, the results of analyzing changes in the concentration of cortisol and measuring physiological stress were very statistically significant in forest healing activities at 4 p.m. Conclusion: Once green camp soldiers face stressful situations, forest healing programs using forest plant scents for green camp soldiers can have positive responses and forest healing activities can reduce psychological and physiological stress responses, improving maladjustment behaviors caused by stress and positively affecting the reduction of cortisol.

Dental pulp is a highly vascularized tissue requiring ade-quate blood supply for successful regeneration. In this study, we investigated the functional role of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHEDs) as a perivascular source for in vivo formation of vessel-like structures. Primarily isolated SHEDs showed mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-like characteristics including the expression of surface antigens and in vitro osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation potentials. Moreover, SHEDs were positive for NG2, -smooth muscle actin (SMA), platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta (PDGFR), and CD146 as pericyte markers. To prove feasibility of SHEDs as perivascular source, SHEDs were transplanted into immunodeficient mouse using Matrigel with or without human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). Transplantation of SHEDs alone or HUVECs alone resulted in no formation of vessel-like structures with enough red blood cells. However, when SHEDs and HUVECs were transplanted together, extensive vessel-like structures were formed. The presence of murine erythrocytes within lumens sug-gested the formation of anastomoses between newly formed vessel-like structures in Matrigel plug and the host circulatory system. To understand underlying mechanisms of in vivo angiogenesis, the expression of angiogenic cytokine and chemokine, their receptors, and MMPs was compared between SHEDs and HUVECs. SHEDs showed higher expression of VEGF, SDF-1, and PDGFRthan HUVECs. On the contrary, HUVECs showed higher ex-pression of VEGF receptors, CXCR4, and PDGF-BB than SHEDs. This differential expression pattern suggested reciprocal interactions between SHEDs and HUVECs and their involvement during in vivo angiogenesis. In conclusion, SHEDs could be a feasible source of perivascular cells for in vivo angiogenesis.

Background: The 2009 Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration creatinine-based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFRcr) equation contains a race component that is not based on biology and may cause a bias in results. Therefore, the 2021 eGFRcr and creatinine-cystatin C–based eGFR (eGFRcr-cysC) equations were developed with no consideration of race. This study compared the cardiovascular event (CVE) and all-cause mortality and CVE combined predictability among the three eGFR equations in Korean chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients. Methods: This study included 2,207 patients from the KoreaN Cohort Study for Outcome in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and net reclassification improvement (NRI) index were used to compare the predictability of the study outcomes according to the 2009 eGFRcr, 2021 eGFRcr, and 2021 eGFRcr-cysC equations. Results: The overall prevalence of CVE and all-cause mortality were 9% and 7%, respectively. There was no difference in area under the curve of ROC for CVE and mortality and CVE combined among all three equations. Compared to the 2009 eGFRcr, both the 2021 eGFRcr (NRI, 0.013; 95% confidence interval [CI], – 0.002 to 0.028) and the eGFRcr-cysC (NRI, –0.001; 95% CI, –0.031 to 0.029) equations did not show improved CVE predictability. Similar findings were observed for mortality and CVE combined predictability with both the 2021 eGFRcr (NRI, –0.019; 95% CI, –0.039–0.000) and the eGFRcr-cysC (NRI, –0.002; 95% CI, –0.023 to 0.018). Conclusion: The 2009 eGFRcr equation was not inferior to either the 2021 eGFRcr or eGFRcr-cysC equation in predicting CVE and the composite of mortality and CVE in Korean CKD patients.
공공부문의 연구보안 프로그램 운영에 대한 연구현장 인식 연구

정부의 지속적인 국가연구개발사업 투자 확대와 더불어, 최근 새로운 성장동력 정책이 전개되고 있음을 고려, 국가연구개발사업을 추진하고 있는 연구 주체(대학·기관 등)의 연구보안 활동은 더욱 중요시되고 있다. 그러나, 이와 같은 중요성에도 불구하고 대부분의 연구 주체들의 연구보안 활동은 아직까지 활성화되지 못하고 있는 것으로 판단되며, 이와 관련된 학술적 연구 또한매우 미흡한 실정이다. 이러한 배경하에 본 연구에서는 대학 및 출연연에 소속된 이공계 박사급연구책임자들을 대상으로 소속 기관에서 수행되고 있는 연구보안 활동에 대한 연구보안 프로그램별 중요도-실행도에 대한 인식을 확인해 봄은 물론 소속 집단별, 연구개발 단계별 인식 차이가 있는지를 추가로 확인해 보았다. 분석결과, 응답자들은 소속 기관에서 진행되고 있는 연구보안 프로그램에 있어 보다 신중한검토(3사분면) 및 일부 축소(4사분면)가 필요하다고 인식하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 소속집단별 그리고 연구개발 단계별로도 집단별 중요도-실행도에 대한 인식 차이가 발생하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 향후 대학 및 출연연 등과 같은 공공부문의 연구보안 활동 확대와 더불어 소속집단별 특성 및 연구개발 단계별 특성을 고려한 설계 및 반영이 필요할 수 있음을 시사하는 의미있는 결과라 판단된다.

This study aimed at examining how individuals’ social viewing of information about fine dust on social media would impact their perception about find dust as well as behavioral intentions of disease prevention. For this examination, this research investigated how subᐨdimensions of social viewing(‘passive acceptance of information’ and ‘active sharing of information’) would affect both main variables (perceived severity and susceptibility of disease caused by fine dust, perceived benefit and barrier of prevention behaviors) from health belief model and behavioral intention of disease prevention. According to research findings, while people’s positive acceptance of information significantly and positively affected perceived ‘severity’ and ‘susceptibility’ of disease caused by fine dust, their active sharing of information negatively and significantly influenced perceived ‘severity’ of potential disease and ‘barriers’ of prevention behaviors. Moreover, only perceived severity of disease caused by fine dust significantly increased people’s intention to conduct prevention behaviors.
마가목 수피 추출물의 아밀로이드 베타 단백질로 유도된 신경독성에 대한 학습 및 기억력 개선 효과

Amyloid beta (Aβ) may be central to the pathogenesis of learning and memory dysfunction in alzheimer's disease. We here assessed the protective effect of 80% (v/v) ethanolic extract of Sorbus commixta bark (SCBE) on amyloid beta (Aβ)-induced cognitive damage in PC 12 cells and in Sprague Dawley rat. SCBE exerted a protective effect against Aβ-induced neuronal cytotoxicity in neuronal PC12 cells. In Aβ-induced rat, SCBE attenuated short-term learning and memory damage, assessed using passive avoidance test, and long-term memory and spatial learning deficit, assessed using Morris water maze test. In addition, SCBE inhibited the capacity for locomotion damaged by Aβ1-42, determined using vertical pole test and rotarod test. Further, SCBE ameliorated cerebral cholinergic impairment in Sprague Dawley rat by increasing the acetylcholine content and reducing the acetylcholinesterase activity, and reduced lipid peroxide levels in brain tissue. Finally, SCBE attenuated apoptotic cascade, as determined by reduced positive staining in brain tissue in terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling assay. This indicated that SCBE ameliorated apoptotic toxicity of brain damaged by Aβ1-42. These findings suggest that SCBE could be used as a potential functional food material to improve cognitive and memory dysfunction in alzheimer's disease.

이 연구는 교사나 학생이 아닌 20대 이상의 일반인을 대상으로 발명에 대한 인식 및 태도를 알아보고, 일반인의 일반적 배경(성별, 연령, 지역, 직업군, 최종학력)과 교육적 배경(발명교육 경험 유무)에 따른 발명에 대한 태도 수준 차이를 알아보고, 이를 통해 발명교육 대상의 확대 및 발명 활성화 방안을 알아보기 위해 수행하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 설문조사에 응답한 사람들의 일반적 배경에 따른 발명태도 수준을 살펴보면 인지적 태도, 정서적 태도, 관심적 태도, 실천적 태도 순으로 나타나 발명에 대한 인지적 태도 수준은 높은 편이나 실제로 발명 활동이 이루어지는 실천적 태도 수준은 상대적으로 낮은 편으로 조사되었다. 이에 대해 좀 더 구체적으로 살펴보면, 성별에 따른 일반인의 발명태도 수준에는 유의미한 차이가 없었으며, 연령에 따른 발명태도 수준은 실천적 태도 영역에서 30대가 높은 태도 수준을 갖고 있었다. 거주지역별로는 수도권과 비수도권 관계없이 발명태도 수준에는 유의미한 차이가 없었고, 직업(군)에 따른 일반인의 발명태도에는 유의미한 차이가 있었는데, 전문가 및 관련 종사자(연구, 의료, 교육, 예술적 창작활동 등)가 발명태도 수준이 높았다. 최종학력에 따른 일반인의 발명태도에는 유의미한 차이가 있었는데, 대학원 이상의 학력을 가진 사람들의 발명태도 수준이 높았다. 둘째, 설문조사에 응답한 사람들의 교육적 배경에 따른 발명태도 수준을 살펴보면, 발명교육 경험 유무에 따른 일반인의 발명태도에는 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 발명교육 경험자들의 발명태도 수준이 높게 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 일반인의 발명에 대한 인식과 태도 향상 및 발명 교육 대상 확대를 위한 발명교육 과정 설계와 교수학습자료 개발 시 참고자료로서의 활용할 수 있는 자료가 될 것이다 This study was conducted to find the level of invention attitude of the general public in their 20s and older, who were not teachers or students, and discover the differences in attitudes according to the general background (gender, age, region, occupational group, and educational level) and educational background (experience of invention education). The results of the study are as follows. First, the participants’ invention attitude according to their general background was measured in the order of cognitive, emotional, interest, and practical attitudes—with the level of cognitive attitude toward invention being high and that of practical attitude being relatively low. Detailed analysis of these results showed no significant differences in the level of invention attitude among the general public by gender, and in the field of practical attitude, the level of invention attitude by age was high. There were no significant differences in invention attitudes between metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas; however, a significant difference was observed with regard to occupation. Further, experts and related workers (in the fields of research, medical care, education, artistic creative activities, etc.) showed a high level of invention attitude. There were significant differences in the invention attitudes of the general public according to their educational level, with the level of invention attitude being high for people with graduate degrees or higher. Second, in terms of participants’ educational background, a significant difference was observed in the level of invention attitude by educational background; the general public’ according to their experience of invention education was high. The study’s findings provide data that can be used as references when designing invention curriculums to expand the subject of invention education for the general public and developing teaching and learning materials.
