염 및 변성제가 카탈라아제의 열응고에 미치는 효과를 실험한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 염의 첨가는 카탈라아제의 열응고를 촉진시킨다. 2. 염의 종류별 효과는 단백질의 이액순열을 따른다. 3. 구아니딘염산은 염과 유사한 효과를 보인다. 4. SDS 및 urea는 열응고를 억제시킨다. 5. 단백질의 열응고 과정은 소수성결합과 밀접한 연관이 있을 것으로 추정된다. Thermal coagulation of catalase was investigated with regard to the effects of salts and denaturants. The formation of thermal coagulum of catalase was enhanced by the addition of salts, and the effect of salts followed the lyotropic series. Guanidine hydrochloride enhanced the coagulum formation in a manner similar to that of salts. Sodium dodecyl sulfate and urea suppressed the thermal coagulation. The mechanism of thermal coagulation can be surmised from the standpoint of hydrophobic interaction between nonpolar amino acid residues.

In order to obtain 6-(ethoxymethyleneamino) purine, which is a useful intermediate for the synthesis of 6-substituted aminopurine, the reaction of adenine with diethoxymethyl acetate was attempted. The product was analyzed by thin layer chromatography and it was found that the product was apt to be converted to side products slowly. Separation of the product was carried out by silica gel column chromatography. By the reason of substitution with methanol which is used as chromatographic solvent, 6-(methoxymethyleneamino) purine was obtained. The product was identified by FT-NMR, UV, and IR Spectroscopic studies, and then it was found that the product was composed of syn-and anti-isomers as a mixture.

조기분만진통 환자의 산전 자궁내 감염 및 주산기 예후 예측에 관한 양수내 Monocyte Chemotactic Protein - 1 측정의 유용성

목적 : 양막파수가 없는 조기진통 산모에서 양수내 monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) 농도가 자궁내 감염과 임신 예후를 평가하는 데 유용한지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 방법 : 양막파수가 없는 조기진통으로 양수검사를 받은 65명을 연구 대상으로 하였다. 양수는 호기성, 혐기성 세균 및 마이코플라스마 배양을 시행하였다. MCP-1은 민감하고 특이적인 면역검사법으로 측정하였다. 통계적 분석에는 Fisher`s exact test, Mann-Whitney U test, receiver operating characteristic curve, 생존 분석법, logistic regression, Spearman correlation을 사용하였다. 결과 : (1) 양수 배양 양성인 환자에서 배양 음성인 환자에 비하여 양수내 MCP-1 농도의 중앙치가 유의하게 높았다 (median, 9.0 ng/mL; range, 0.45-40.5 ng/mL; vs median, 0.82 ng/mL; range, 0.06-30.1 ng/mL; P<.01). (2) 임신 주수를 보정한 후에도 양수내 MCP-1 농도가 1.9 ng/mL보다 큰 환자에서 1.9 ng/mL보다 작은 환자에 비하여 분만까지의 기간이 유의하게 짧았고 조직학적 융모양막염, 2일 및 5일 이내의 조산과 증명되거나 의심 되는 선천성 패혈증의 발생이 많았다 (P<.05). (3) 양수내 MCP-1 농도와 양수내 interleukin-6 농도 사이에는 강한 연관성을 보였다 (r=.881, P<.001). 결론 : 양막파수가 없는 조기진통 산모에서 양수내 MCP-1 농도 측정은 자궁내 감염과 조산, 신생아 감염성 합병증을 평가하는 데에 유용하다. Objective : To examine if amniotic fluid (AF) monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1) concentrations are useful in the identification of intrauterine infection and pregnancy outcomes in preterm labor with intact membranes. Methods : The study population consists of 65 patients who received amniocentesis for preterm labor with intact membranes. Amniotic fluid was cultured for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, as well as mycoplasmas. MCP-1 was determined by a sensitive and specific immunoassay. Fisher`s exact test, Mann- Whitney U test, receiver operating characteristic curve, survival techniques, logistic regression, and Spearman correlation were used for statistical analysis. Results : (1) Patients with a positive amniotic fluid culture had a significantly higher median AF MCP-1 concentration than those with negative results (median, 9.0 ng/mL; range, 0.45-40.5 ng/mL; vs median, 0.82 ng/mL; range, 0.06-30.1 ng/mL; P<.01). (2) Patients with AF MCP-1 concentration of >1.9 ng/mL had a significantly shorter median interval to delivery, the higher rate of histologic chorioamnionitis, preterm delivery within 2 and 5 days, and the occurrence of congenital proven or suspected sepsis than did those with AF MCP-1 concentration of <1.9 ng/mL after adjustment for gestational age (P<.05). (3) There was strong correlation between AF MCP-1 concentrations and AF interleukin-6 concentrations (r=.881, P<.001). Conclusion : AF MCP-1 determinations are useful in the identification of intrauterine infection, preterm delivery, and neonatal infectious complication in preterm labor with intact membranes.

Electrical shock is most effective management in patients with hemodynamically unstable serious arrhythmias. But clinical course of survived patients resuscitated by large number and amount of electrical shock because of various situations was a little known. We report a case of myocardial infarction complicating ventricular fibrillation, successfully resuscitated by large number and amount of electrical shock, 35 times, cumulative amount of 7920J.

<P>Recently, there have been various attempts to demonstrate the feasibility of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) transistors for digital logic circuits. A complementary inverter circuit, which is a basic building block of a logic circuit, was implemented in earlier works by heterogeneously integrating n- and p-channel transistors fabricated on different TMD materials. Subsequently, to simplify the circuit design and fabrication process, complementary inverters were constructed on single-TMD materials using ambipolar transistors. However, continuous transition from the electron-conduction to the hole-conduction state in the ambipolar devices led to the problem of a high leakage current. Here, we report a polarity-controllable TMD transistor that can operate as both an n- and a p-channel transistor with a low leakage current of a few picoamperes. The device polarity can be switched simply by converting the sign of the drain voltage. This is because a metal-like tungsten ditelluride (WTe2) with a low carrier concentration is used as a drain contact, which subsequently allows selective carrier injection at the palladium/tungsten diselenide (WSe2) junction. In addition, by using the operating principle of the polarity-controllable transistor, we demonstrate a complementary inverter circuit on a single TMD channel material (WSe2), which exhibits a very low static power consumption of a few hundred picowatts. Finally, we confirm the expandability of this polarity-controllable transistor toward more complex logic circuits by presenting the proper operation of a three-stage ring oscillator.</P>
Proteomics Comparison of Longissimus Muscle between Hanwoo and Holstein Cattle

This study was conducted to compare proteins expressed in M. longissimus from Hanwoo and Holstein steers immediately after slaughter. Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2DE)/LC-MS/MS analysis revealed that the total number of detectable protein spots from longissimus muscle tissues was slightly higher in Hanwoo (575±65) than Holstein (534±13) steers, but that these numbers were not statistically significant due to large variation between replicates. A total of twelve protein spots did not match between sample groups, eight of which were expressed in the Hanwoo sample and four that were expressed in the Holstein sample. The protein spots detected in the Hanwoo sample included smooth muscle and non-muscle myosin alkali light chain 6B isomers, αB crystallin isomers, hemoglobin β-A chains, slow myosin heavy chains, and slow skeletal muscle troponin T chains. Collectively, these proteins are a class of slow-twitch muscle fiber and mirror that Hanwoo muscle tissue sampled for the current study contained more slow-twitch muscle fibers than Holstein one. Conversely, proteins detected from the Holstein sample included ankyrin repeat domain 2 and creatin kinase isomers. Given that creatin kinase isomers are related to the fast-twitch muscle, these results likely indicate that Holstein muscle tissue sampled for the current study contained more fast-twitch muscle fibers than Hanwoo beef.

Spinal hemangioma is the uncommon, slowly growing benign tumor that arises from the blood vessels and commonly located in thoracic spine. We have recently experienced a case of capillary Hemangioma in intradural extramedullary space of thoracic spine level. The patient presented with a slowly progressive weakness of both lower extremities and hypesthesia below T6 dermatome. The plain X-ray films, thoracic spine myelography and CT scan disclosed an intradural mass at T5 level. The mass was surgically removed and conformed by histological examination.
