Background and Objectives : Digital rectal examination (DRE) and uroflowmetry have been usually together in the BPH management. The aim of this study was to determine whether DRE would affect uroflowmetry measurement. Materials and methods : A total of 80 male patients were included in this study. First uroflowmetry was done after DRE, second uroflowmetry was done without DRE. Third uroflowmetry was done after DRE, and fourth was done without DRE. Results : The mean Qmax on uroflowmetry after DRE was 15.2±8.7㎖/sec and 14.9±9.8㎖/sec. The mean Qmax on only uroflowmetry was 15.3±8.9㎖/sec and 15.4±8.4㎖/sec. There was statistically no difference between the mean Qmax(P> 0.05). And effect of digital rectal examination on uroflowmetry measurement with age was statistically no difference between the mean Qmax(P)0.05). Conclusions : We could not find and effect of DRE on uroflowmetry parameters, In this study, uroflowmetry test would be appropiate for recommending DRE before or after.

폐렴구균 균혈증에 합병된 심내막염은 드문 경우로 페니실린이 사용된 1940년대 이후로 전체의 1% 이하로 감소하였고, 주로 알코올 중독자에게 잘 발생한다. 저자들은 부비동염과 폐렴구균에 의한 균혈증으로 내원하여 항생제 치료 중 폐렴 및 대동맥 판막에 세균성 심내막염이 발생하여 대동막 판막 치환술 및 승모판 성형술 시행을경험하였기에 문헌 고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Streptococcus pneumoniae has been a rare cause of endocarditis in the postantibiotic era. The incidence of pneumococcal endocarditis now accounts for less than 3% of all cases and most often occur in patients with risk factors, especially alcoholism. We report the case of a 68-year-old male with acute infective endocarditis due to Streptococcus pneumoniae. We stressed the low frequency of this agent as a cause of endocarditis and the atypical evolution of this case.

The orthognathic surgery for esthetic and functional improvement has developed for 150 years. Today, we can expect the better prognosis which is based on the early trial & error and advanced analysis technique. However, conservatism which advocates upholding of traditions and passive changes has been obstacle to scientific modernization as a contemporary co-worker. IVRI, ILRO, IVSRO, IVRO-SSRO, SSRO have been used to orthognathic surgery variously. In this article, we are going to compare IVRO, ILO with SSRO and advocate superiority of SSRO.
다구치법에 의한 고 규소 내산주철의 용해주조공정 최적화

In this study, Taguchi method, one of the design tools of experiments, was applied to optimize casting process parameters of the high silicon corrosion-resistant iron. Three casting process parameters such as melting temperature, rare earth metal (mischmetal) addition, and pouring temperature were chosen. Using SN (signal-to-noise) ratio calculated from ultimate tensile strength of each experimental casting run, the relationship between the casting parameters and mechanical properties was statistically evaluated. The casting condition of a melting temperature of 1,650℃, 0.2% rare earth metal addition, and a pouring temperature of 1,350℃ led to an excellent ultimate tensile strength above 11 kgf/mm², which is beyond the industrial criterion. The effects of the casting parameters on mechanical properties and corrosion resistance were further confirmed by combined analysis of fractography, hydrogen content determination, microscopic test, and acid resistance test. Helicobacter pylori 편모 유전자의 클로닝 및 염기서열 분석

A λgt11 expression libary of H. pylori DNA in E. coli Y1090 was screened with flagellin-specific rabbit antiserum for molecular cloning of the flagellin gene of H. pylori. A positive clone, λHPF4, was obtained and the recombinant antigen expressed from λHPF4 was a fusion protein with the molecular weight of 168kd. Sequence analysis of antigen-encoding DNA showed that an open reading frame composed of 1,536 nucleotides encodes a polypepride with a oredicted molecular size of 54kd. This open reading frame did not show the homology with flaA gene encoding 56kd protein of H. pylori and was confirmed as a unique sequence through homoligy searching. Therefore, the cloned antigen is supposed to be the carboxy-terminal region of the other flagellin protein of H. pylori, flaB, with the molecular weight of 58kd.

The purpose of this study was to develope both hardware and software of automatic 3-dimensional video motion analysis system. In this image capture system, the vedeo image was stored as a file in CD-Rom directly, the refore it was possible to analyze motion without VCR. Reflective markers were used to digitize automaticaly. C-language and MS-Visual Basic 5.0 ] anguage were utiliged in this software to analyze motion. The conclusions were as follows; 1. The vedeo information at sixty frames per second could be captured accurately as a image with a resolution photography of 640×480-24 bit. 2. It was possible to digitize both manually and automatically utilizing reflective marks attached the body. 3. The automatic 3-dimensional video motion analysis system, which was developed in this study not only increased accuracy but also reduced digitizing time so much.
Effects of Centerline Macrosegregation on Necking of P - Added Extra Low Carbon Steel Sheet

Effects of centerline macrosegregation on necking was examined by the stretching experiment for cold rolled P-added extra low carbon steel sheets. The centerline macrosegregated zone containing high concentration of Mn and P was elongated in the rolling process. The elongated macrosegregated zone induced instability in the strain state when the sheet was stretched, thus resulted in the waved sheet surface. The formability of cold rolled steel sheet was deteriorated due to the wave formed by the macrosegregation. The waved surface was thought io be: caused by the higher hardness in the macrosegregated zone compared to the segregation free zone. The experiments on the stretching of sheet including macrosegregation showed that the macrosegregation was the important source of instability in that of the cold rolled steel sheets. A 3D FEM analysis was carried out for the quantitative evaluation of waved surface. It was confirmed that the main source of the waved surface was the macrosegregation. Stretching in the transverse direction under the plane strain condition made the cold rolled steel sheet more inhomogeneous than stretching in any other strain condition. The thickness difference in the stretched sheet was linearly increased when the ratio of hardness in the macrosegregated zone to that of the segregation free zone was increased. The macrosegregation formed in the internal crack close to the surface was more harmful to the formability in the cold rolled steel sheet than the centerline macrosegregation.
Analysis of Heat Transfer in Hot Rolled Coils for Optimum Condition of Forced Cooling

A new equation was proposed to investigate the heat transfer in the hot rolled coils by taking account of the variation of contact between coiled layers. The proposed equation was represented by the equivalent radial thermal conductivity as a function of radial normal pressure. It was found that the analytical results were in good agreement with the experimental data. The cooling times of the hot rolled coils of various dimensions cooled by air or water have been calculated by using the proposed equation. It was shown by finite element analyses that the cooling time was decreased from 32~53 hours to 6~13 hours for spray water cooling.
